Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!  I hope your day is filled with lots of pumpkins, laughter, good friends, great food, kids at your door wearing cute costumes and a bunch of candy.
But before we get to Halloween things…

Oh my gosh!  To say that I’m excited would be a HUGE understatement!  I am thrilled beyond words!   I have watched over 180 games this season…but last night’s was my favorite :).  Now, I’m not sure why we’re surprised they won?  How many times on this blog have I mentioned that my favorite number is 13 and good things always happen to me on the 13th?  Well, it only makes sense that the Red Sox would win the World Series in 2013…seriously, I should have realized this way back in April :).
So, Shay is really happy today for two reasons…first, the Sox won the World Series and second, it’s Halloween :).
We had a great Monday getting in the mood for Halloween…
First, Kensington wore her unicorn costume to gymnastics.  Nothing says tumbler like a unicorn.

On Monday afternoon, the kiddos and I walked to the park.  I love this kid :).

And then Monday night, we carved some jack-o-lanterns!  They were so excited!!  (I believe Kensington is protecting her pumpkin for crazy Smith!)

She did a great job drawing her own jack-o-lantern face!

Daddy helped Smith draw his.

And then we carved them up, put some candles inside and enjoyed the fruits of our labor.  This might have been the kids’ favorite fall activity!  They were so proud!

Happy Halloween from our spooky house to yours!
Are you flipping out over needing a quick Halloween goody for today?  No worries!  I’ve got you covered…
Come check out my foodie blog today!
And don’t forget tomorrow is Pin-spired!!  I can’t wait to see your recreations!
And finally…
…I’ll try and keep my Christmas cheer to a minimum until after Thanksgiving…but this is what I’ll be thinking at 12:01 tonight.  Just sayin’…
Happy Halloween!

I went into a store last night and I couldn't believe that there was one aisle of Halloween stuff and about 10 aisles of Christmas stuff. And last year on November 1 the city I work in had all of their street decorations up on November 1. Part of me loves it and part of me is like, already? (But mostly I love it)

  • Lori R. October 31, 2013 at 10:43 am

DON'T keep your Christmas cheer in, bring it on!!!

  • Ashhog October 31, 2013 at 10:47 am

Happy for you and your Red Sox…sad for me and my Cardinals. ;(

  • Kelly Jo October 31, 2013 at 11:15 am

Love the pumpkins! Can't believe it will be November tomorrow!

  • Tab & Erika October 31, 2013 at 11:24 am

We carved pumpkins last night and my kiddos loved it too!!! Cute cute pics of your sweet kiddos!!

I think it's great to start celebrating Jesus' birthday early. Why not start the party music and put up the decorations?! Even though I know it gets commercialized, I tell my kiddos when we walk through stores that we can be reminded that all these pretty decorations and many Christmas songs are truly for the best birthday party ever!! 🙂

  • Danielle October 31, 2013 at 11:55 am

Go Sox!!! 13 is my lucky number too. Glad to hear I'm not the only one 🙂 Happy Halloween Shay!

  • Anonymous October 31, 2013 at 12:16 pm

Too funny…I was thinking the same thing about Christmas songs. 🙂

  • Kelly October 31, 2013 at 12:42 pm

Congratulations on the Rangers winning the world series!!!! Oh wait…they didn't win? So confused because aren't you from Texas and nowhere near Boston???

Kidding, kidding, but from a bitter O's fan who actually cheers for her hometown team, we are excited to open our season next year vs the WS champs….and sure are hoping they look a little more presentable! 🙂

Hope you have a fun Halloween with your adorable children!

  • Ashley October 31, 2013 at 12:46 pm

Girlfriend, I have been listening to Christmas music all week. I already put away all my pumpkins and have pulled out the Christmas stuff. It all goes up this weekend 🙂 ha!

  • Laura October 31, 2013 at 12:52 pm

The Christmas season always starts the day after Halloween for me. If your cable provider comes with all the music stations the "Sounds of the Season" one starts nonstop Christmas music every November 1. It's pretty much the best thing ever!

  • Angela Ellingson October 31, 2013 at 12:56 pm

Hey, don't keep the Christmas cheer to minimum for my sake. Love it!!! We are going to our church's Trunk or Treat/Harvest Festival tonight with our little Cinderella and Gus Gus!

  • Leigh October 31, 2013 at 1:08 pm

Go Sox!!!!! My husband is crazy excited the Red Sox winning! Hope you have a wonderful Halloween. We have a crazy storm moving through my town today so we were asked to postpone trick or treating until tomorrow. Oh well! Happy Halloween!

I thought of you when I heard that Boston won the World Series this morning while watching the Today Show. I just knew you were so excited!!!:)

The kids pumpkins turned out great! I love the classic jack-o-lanterns with scary faces. That's how we did ours this year.

And, I am SO with you on the Christmas countdown. I mean, tomorrow is November 1st!!! ONE month until Christmas! We will def be getting the Christmas cds asap (and have already watched a few Christmas movies!)

  • klmoore23 October 31, 2013 at 1:16 pm

Don't forget the most important rule of all today…for every 1 piece of candy given out, you must eat 2 pieces yourself! Enjoy tonight with your kiddos!

  • Miranda October 31, 2013 at 1:33 pm

Please do not hesitate to post all things Christmas! I went to Dollar Tree yesterday and dropped $19 on Christmas decorations, with tax that equaled out to about 18 different Christmas items…<3 it

  • Amy October 31, 2013 at 11:10 am

Ditto on the Christmas carols!!! I can't wait! Getting my kids' Christmas books out too.

  • Candice Kelley October 31, 2013 at 4:44 pm

You and Smith have the same smile! Very sweet pictures!

P.S. I think you, your dad, and I may be some of the only Red Sox fans in Mckinney! GO SOX!! 🙂

  • Nicole October 31, 2013 at 6:55 pm

I'm with you Shay. My kids actually said to me last night "mom are you getting your Christmas cds out for Friday" You betcha I am!! I love November 1st

  • Sarah Smith November 1, 2013 at 1:41 am

RED SOX NATION!! My husband and I just moved to Boston from Georgia.. What a great year to fall in love with Boston and the Sox! Happy Halloween!

  • Jaren November 1, 2013 at 1:42 pm

The morning after the Red Sox won I heard it on my alarm radio, and I immediately thought of you and how excited you must have been!
I love their unique pumpkin faces!!! Too cute!

My favorite thing about your Halloween is Kensington's jack-o-lantern. That is AWESOME.

Time to bust out the Christmas carols indeed!

Just found your blog a few weeks ago and am LOVING IT!!! Here's a pic of my kids, so super proud of their job assisting me in baking your Candy Corn Bundt Cake this past weekend: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10202289051087465&set=a.2095568988606.2129477.1226763231&type=1.

We're looking forward to making your ghoul-ash tonight–and tried your apple chicken meatballs, mashed sweet potatoes and apple pull-apart bread last week! Oh, and my husband loved your chicken and noodles in the slow cooker!!!

I used to love being creative with my cooking and baking and got out of my groove a bit with starting a business last year…but with your recipes, I can make delicious meals QUICKLY!!! Love that! Thanks for reigniting my domestic prowess!!! 🙂
