NYC 2015: Part Two

Yesterday, Part One of our trip to NYC and today, Part Two :).

Our room was pitch black and we were all asleep on Saturday morning until this little nightlight came on.  It was Smith reading his little book.  That boy likes school :).

We decided to have Saturday morning brunch at Isabella’s on the Upper West Side.  It was cold (in the 40s), but they had heaters on the patio, so we sat outside and people watched while enjoying our food.

My view ahead as we strolled the Upper West Side after brunch…

…and my view down below.  One of my very favorite parts about this trip is that Smith held my hand the entire time.  He’s still at that sweet age where he’ll hold his mama’s hand…and I know it’s probably just about over.  Andrew pushed Ashby in the stroller the whole time and for the most part, Kensington held on to the side of the stroller…and Smith walked with me and held my hand.  I love this boy so much.

Lookin’ at the view.
This kid needs to get a personality. #yeahright

A pic with my big girl…

…a pic with my main man…

…a pic with my little girl.
And my boy was…climbing on that big rock.

It was such a beautiful day, so we let the kids play one more time before heading south.

If you can sleep while inside the Midtown Disney Store…you can sleep anywhere. #itssoloudinthere #andcrowded

We left Midtown and headed to the Brooklyn Bridge.  We had the best time walking across the bridge!

Just a bunch of crazies on a Saturday afternoon walking over the Brooklyn Bridge!

Hey there Brooklyn!

 We heart you!

For dinner, we waited in line at Juliana’s for their delicious pizza.  Andrew and I took turns in line (we waited about 45 minutes), while the kids played.  Love that view of my little family.

After we came out of the restaurant (full of pizza and apple pie!), we looked at the city in lights.

And then the next morning, we grabbed a quick bite at the airport before flying home.
It was a great trip.
There’s nothing better than traveling with the four people I love the most.
For dinner tonight…
Your family will love it!

What memories you are making for these kids. I am laughing at Ashby rolling her tongue! I can't do it for love or money!!! It's a gene thing?

You have me all kinds of excited by your pictures so I told my mom I wanted to get her a trip to NYC for her birthday ('cause I win in that situation too hehe) but she says "it'll be too cold". Ugh, embrace the scarf and boots weather, mom! Also – that picture of Andrew pushing the stroller reminds me of the streets of Boston when I was there back in May 🙂 Love me some East Coast.

This makes NYC look do-able with kids…I used to live there but a toddler and an infant make visiting seem a bit daunting.

  • Christy October 14, 2015 at 2:13 pm

Hi Shay! Where do you get Kensington's adorable knit dresses? I just love the floral cranberry dress with polka dot leggings in your last post! She's so cute! 🙂

Such a sweet family trip! We're headed to NY next year so I'm taking note of some of these restaurants!

  • Christina October 14, 2015 at 4:35 pm

I love Ashby's plaid leggings and Kennsington's blue dress (with the magenta pattern print)! Would you please share where those are from? Actually, you should consider linking your kid items because I love the way you dress your kids and often wonder where their clothes are from! =) Thank you!

I'm loving your NYC posts, James and I are planning a trip there in 2016 and I'm taking notes on restaurants!! We just can't decide if we want to go next October in the Fall or wait until Christmas!??? I've always wanted to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree but I've heard going in the Fall is so pretty and fun too. Decisions!

When I saw your picture under the BB in my head I hoped you headed right over to Juliana's. So glad you did! I was there last week and went twice. Twice! The first time we were seated on the bar stools that overlook the pizza making. It was mesmerizing. Their food is so stinkin' worth the wait.

  • Mary Dollar October 14, 2015 at 10:49 pm

    Love all your fun pics!!!

  • Jeanie October 14, 2015 at 10:58 pm

What a lovely memory! You may forget where you ate and what you saw, but you will never forget walking along the streets of Manhattan holding your sweet boy's hand. ?

  • JenB October 15, 2015 at 7:40 pm

We got to NYC on Sat and tried to eat at Juliana's Sat night! Line was so long we ended up at the Shake Shack down the street. Fun times!

  • Jaren October 18, 2015 at 1:45 pm

I love that y'all went to NYC with the kiddos for a quick little trip! Y'all squeezed so much into those few days! I've never been, but that trip looks so doable and so awesome!!! My kids talk about New York City all the time. I know they'd be thrilled!

Hi Shay! Would you mind telling me which Chicco umbrella stroller you are using? I'm trying to find a nice light weight one to travel with. Thank you!

  • Nicole November 7, 2015 at 8:05 pm

Love, love your fun blog!! We are thinking of a trip to NYC… Have 5 kids ages 9-17. How was transportation? Would it be impossible for a fam of 7 to get around?? Any suggestions?

  • Hannah Scroggins January 5, 2016 at 4:16 am

Shay!! Hope you've had a happy Monday! We are taking our small kiddos to NYC over Spring Break and plan to do all the fun stuff… And I need you to keep it real, were your kids able to walk all these places or did y'all get a taxi? 🙂

    • Mix and Match Mama January 5, 2016 at 10:29 am

If I'm remembering correctly, we only took a taxi twice over those two days (besides to and from the airport) and then rode the subway twice. My kids really walked it all! The subway system was really easy for us to use with kiddos!
