So much love.

It was the weekend of love around here.
Valentine’s parties, Valentine’s dance, Valentine’s breakfast, Valentine’s treats, Valentine’s dinner.  Valentine’s, Valentine’s, Valentine’s.
Lots of love crammed into one little weekend.
We kicked off things on Thursday morning when Miss Ashby had her Valentine’s party at preschool.  She was so excited!  After the party, she couldn’t wait to show Andrew and me her Valentine’s bag full of cards, treats and candy.  She totally loved her day!

On Friday morning, these two celebrated Valentine’s Day at their school.  Before we walked to school, we took a few pictures.

These two make my heart so happy :).

At 2:00 on Friday, we headed to the kids’ school for their Valentine’s parties.  Andrew and I split up and did half with one kid and then half with the other.  Here I am at Smith’s party.  This kid had so much fun!

Bye bye my little love bug!  Next stop, K’s class!

Ashby came over with me…you would have thought they hadn’t seen each other in years.  #ithadonlybeensixhours #sisters.

Shull girls.

That night, we attended our school’s annual family Valentine’s dance.  Remember last year?  Ashby had been home less than a month and yet, went crazy on the dance floor?  This girl LOVES to dance!  Well, as soon as we walked in…she was off…

Hahaha!  We laugh because she like feels it in her soul!

Ashby, Kensington and Ebby Lee dancing!

Smith and Nixon.  Bless their hearts.  They tried so hard to look like they knew what they were doing.  These two were my FAVORITE to watch!  They were just so cute!

Tab, Erika, Andrew and me…we know how to par-ty on a Friday night!

 Three Shull girls dancin’!

Y’all…you see our friend Sarah there in the middle?  She left the hospital THAT DAY with her brand new baby!  Yes!  Around 2:00 PM that day, she left with baby girl #3 and was at the school’s dance that night…lookin’ really good if I do say so myself!  We love you Sarah (and baby Millie too!).

Friday night at the dance!  We had so much fun!

On Saturday after Smith’s basketball game, I took both girls for a pedicure.  Sitting there between my two girls, gettin’ all of our toes polished…well, I felt extremely blessed.
Love being a girl mom :).

We left with pretty feet, picked up the boys and headed to Dallas for their Chinese New Year Celebration in the Dallas Arts District.  We met up with my parents, Sean and Catherine and had the BEST time!  The weather was gorgeous (like 65), so we were really able to soak it all in.

The three guys with the three kids watching the performers on stage.

C and Me

My sweetheart holding hands with my two oldest babies.

This guy and me.

Love these people.

Papa Jay and Lovie let them pick out a little something to commemorate the day.

They were stoked!

The year of the monkey.  Please note, Ashby even wore her monkey shoes for the occasion :).

We ended our night with burgers, hot dogs and milkshakes at a really cute little joint in Dallas.  Love my family.

It’s blurry and crazy…but this was the best pic I got on Valentine’s morning.  The kiddos came down to a festive breakfast, a mini box of chocolates and one little treat.  They were super pumped it was Valentine’s Day!  They also had made both myself and Andrew a Valentine’s Day card…and placed a dollar in each one.  Since they couldn’t drive to the store and get us gifts, they said they wanted us to have money.  I mean, I feel like one blessed mama to have these kids :).

Headed to lunch after church :).

Annnnnd…Ashby kept saying that her ear hurt, so I took her to the local urgent care center and they said she had a bad case of…swimmer’s ear.  Huh?  Kensington gets it a lot during the summer, but a February swimmer’s ear is a first for us.  Thankfully, that was all it was (I was afraid it was strep), so Ashby and I hopped on over to the pharmacy (pictured here), waited for her prescription and then headed home.
The kids asked if we could have Japanese Hibachi for dinner (because…let’s face it, they want to eat it on every occasion), so we headed there for our Valentine’s Day dinner.

Valentine’s with my babies :).
That wraps up our weekend!
Don’t forget…
Five simple suppers, one happy mama.
xoxo

I love how you're all wearing red and pink for Valentine's, I don't think we'd be able to find one item of red clothing between us…shall attempt to rectify that before next year!!

  • Paige February 15, 2016 at 11:40 am

What a great weekend!!!!! Love the pics of y'all at the Chinese New Year celebration! Our weekend was WAY more low key, but it included tacos…twice, so I was okay. Remind me to tell you about the sock hop at Carter's school. It ended with us going home abruptly because we thought Carter might have a concussion. Seriously.

    • JJaz February 17, 2016 at 3:27 pm

Went to Barnes and Noble to get your books…SOLD OUT in Cookeville, TN, sister! Way to go! They thought they had ONE of the Cakes books left, but the cashier and I searched and searched and couldn't find it. Anyway, easy to order it ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Lynn {A Taste of Country} February 15, 2016 at 1:46 pm

What a great weekend! Your family is precious. Also, I'm not sure I've ever seen pictures of Andrew with facial hair

  • Angela Pino February 15, 2016 at 1:47 pm

The picture of Ashby and Kensington hugging after being apart for 6 whole hours is so sweet! And the fact that they gave you a dollar for Valentine's Day since they couldn't get to the store, oh my goodness, be still my heart! That is the cutest thing. Feel better, sweet Ashby!

  • Andrea Terrell February 15, 2016 at 2:02 pm

We went to Benihana's. Hands down my daughters favorite place to go. Y'all are lucky siblings can go to class parties. Our school does not allow that. Looks like a good weekend.

  • Farryn February 15, 2016 at 2:08 pm

Sweet pictures of your valentines! We had your red velvet pancakes for Valentine Day Breakfast for Dinner! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Our nephews, sister and brother-in-law came over for dinner. It was so much fun! Everyone came in their Jammies and had pancakes ! ! Thanks for the yummy recipe!

I used to think Valentine's Day was lame-o and totally refused to participate. But with kids EVERYTHING is so much more fun! Even completely made up Hallmark holidays. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Rachel S February 15, 2016 at 2:34 pm

I'm really curious what it is like for you being out with Sean and Catherine in public. Do they get recognized a lot or do people pretty much ignore them? I would imagine in a crowd like that, there would be a lot of people coming up for autographs and whatnot. Still, they don't seem reluctant to be out and about so maybe there aren't a lot of interruptions?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 15, 2016 at 9:23 pm

People sometimes come up and say hi (they're always really sweet!). It's not really an issue. Sometimes, people say hi and get a picture but it's nothing Sean and Catherine seem to mind. People are always so sweet and sincere when they meet them.

  • Michelle K February 15, 2016 at 2:46 pm

Such cute pictures. Andrew looks so different with a beard. Is Catherine feeling well? Love baby news. ..I can't believe Sarah was at the dance. I think I could hardly walk after my kids were born! Let alone wearing real clothes ๐Ÿ˜‰

    • Mix and Match Mama February 15, 2016 at 9:21 pm

Catherine is doing fantastic!! And Sarah…she's a rock star, right?!

What a sweet idea to have a family Valentine's dance! And your friend, Sarah, is a rockstar! No way could I have made it to a dance a couple days after giving birth!

  • Leigh (Balancing By Faith) February 15, 2016 at 8:03 pm

Your family picture from the Chinese festival is so good!! My daughter asks for Hibachi on a daily basis….but really she just wants a recipe for Yum Yum sauce to put on everything at home – you have one of those??

    • Ms Moore February 15, 2016 at 9:10 pm

They sell this at grocery stores and Asian markets

  • Trent and Richelle February 16, 2016 at 1:37 am

I made your red velvet cake bars and my whole family LOVED them! Thanks! Also, what kind of countertops do you have? I'm kind of in love with them.

  • Allison O February 16, 2016 at 6:15 am

I'm sure your doc knows way more, but I gof swimmer's ear all the time from floating in the bath tub during the winter! Who know how sweet Ashby got it but glad she could still dance through it!

  • Lisa February 16, 2016 at 3:53 pm

Shay, My kids both swam competitively for years. Have you tried any over the counter swimmer's ear drops? Both of my kids kept them in their swim bags to use after practice and they worked GREAT!!! Once you use what comes in the bottle, some bottles are made so you can refill them with a mixture of half rubbing alcohol and half vinegar. So cheap and easy and I'm 99% sure you have those ๐Ÿ˜‰ So as I'm looking at your pics it caught my eye that your pedi place has a fountain soda machine (Yes, that's they crazy thing I noticed) That's so AWESOME! #callmeweird
