Black Friday Faves

It’s my post about my favorite things to buy for Christmas…whether you buy them today or any old day.  I tried to cover gift ideas for my whole family, but PLEASE COMMENT AND SHARE YOUR IDEAS TOO!  We can’t have enough ideas, right?!  Next week, I’m going to be sharing so many other Christmas gift ideas…so this is most definitely not all of them…just some of my faves.  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and many blessings to you this weekend too!

My kiddos were hard at work last week writing their letters to Santa.  Basically, Ashby just wanted to copy Kensington’s letter verbatim. #littlesisterlife

So, last year, Santa brought my three kids these amazing sleeping bags from Pottery Barn Kids.  Every Friday night (and many special days in-between), they have slept in them all cozy and warm.  This year, Santa is bringing Miss Madeley one too.

And the year before, Santa brought these cozy bean bag chairs from Pottery Barn Teen.  Both the sleeping bags and the bean bag chairs have been major wow gifts from Santa.  My kiddos LOVE them!  We have the larger bean bag chairs from PB Teen and also two of the smaller ones from PB Kids.  Our favorites are the larger ones (because even Andrew and I can sit comfortably in them), but if you don’t have the space, the smaller ones are fun too!

On Kensington’s list this year, it’s basically everything in the American Girl Doll catalog.  Both Ashby and Kensington are getting Wellie Wishers for Christmas.  I’ve already ordered their things and you should too because many of the items are on back order.

This guy wants anything and everything outdoors.  I know this might seem lame…but it’s really easy…I just went online to Cabela’s and ordered a ton of outdoor stuff: binoculars, cross bow, tent…you know, all of that kind of stuff.

Give her all of the babies and Barbies this year.  Miss Ashby is getting some puzzles (Amazon had so many!), a Barbie camper, a new barbie and some baby stuff too.  Easy peasy!

Speaking of Amazon…I shopped for Madeley on there too!  She is getting anything that can be pushed around (like the car above) or lights up.  Thank you Fisher Price.  It’s going to be a bumpy, loud Christmas morning around here! 🙂

So for my hubby…he bought himself a Christmas present already…

…some Sorel boots for this winter.  He has some snow boarding trips lined up (plus, we’re going to travel to a few cold places this winter!), so he bought some Sorel boots for himself.

And if you’re looking for shirts for your guy, Andrew almost exclusively gets his button-ups at J Crew.  I know my mom has given him (and my brother) many a shirt from J Crew and they always make excellent gifts!

Now…lady gifts.  I could go on forever here.

Kate Spade Glitter Studs.  Buy them for your kid’s teacher, your neighbor, your BFF, your mom, your cousin, your sister…any and every girl you know!

A good scarf!  I bought this cream one Here and I also bought this red one HERE that I’m wearing today to officially kick off Christmas.  It comes in four other colors (I may have bought navy too…)  A good scarf is always a great gift!  Speaking of which…

Loft has these light weight little sweaters on sale right now (let’s face it, everything at Loft is on sale right now!) and they’re cute by themselves or when you…

…top it with a fun scarf!  Now, this scarf is from last year but these are very similar to it!

And my flat little booties (which I’m realizing a busy mom of four needs!) also come in 9 other colors. NINE!

If you’re looking for a cozy fleece sweater to gift this year, I keep telling you about this one.  It comes in 7 colors and could not be comfier.  It washes and lays flat to dry…I wear it multiple times a week.  I’m obsessed friends.  This would make such a cozy little gift!

Years ago, my grandmother bought C and me robes for Christmas and I’m literally wearing it right this second as I write this post for you.  It’s the gift that keeps on giving :).  If you have several girls in your family, robes in a variety of colors is such a fun gift to give!  And you can also go crazy and gift a robe with a pair of…

my favorite slippers :).  Now, the colors are coming and going in and out of stock, so you better grab a pair quickly before they’re all gone!

I mean…an ugly Christmas sweater on Black Friday just makes sense.  I’m going to leave this right here and walk away 😉 .

Last year, I gifted two girls in my family Uggs.  This year, I might do the same.  Everyone gets excited over Uggs!  My mom gave me these for my birthday this year and I seriously got giddy!  I bought this pair last year for those two family members and I bought a pair for myself too because…I ADORE THEM…

…they’re water resistant and have just the tiniest little wedge heel.

Christmas pajama pants, check.

These J Crew puffer vests would make cute Christmas gifts too (if you have a bunch of girls in your family, you could buy each one a different color!).  And if you can’t tell, I love me a J Crew plaid shirt too…both above and below

…love me some plaid.

My mom asked me for some suggestions this year and I told her to get my kiddos some cold weather gear from Gap.  Their scarves, mittens, gloves and hats are my FAVORITE for kids!  Plus, I really like their coats too (Ashby is wearing one here!).  Such easy gift ideas for kids of all ages!

What great gift ideas!!! I love the sleeping bags and bean bags–they look so cozy! Happy Friday! Xoxo

  • Megan November 25, 2016 at 4:55 am

Those Sorels would make a great gift for the hubby. Why are men so hard to buy for?!?! In my want/need/wear/read post earlier this week I said we weren’t doing gifts between the two of us. After he read it he told me he already bought me something! So now I have more shopping to do. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Sheaffer November 25, 2016 at 5:16 am

Those studded UGGs are an AMAZING Deal right now! And I wish they would just restock those UGG slippers already. I’m obsessed with mine, and everybody needs them! Can’t wait to see a pic of all 4 cuddled up in their sleeping bags!

  • Mary November 25, 2016 at 5:51 am

I love your Black Friday favorites! What lipstick are you wearing in the picture with the loft sweater and pink plaid scarf? Happy day!!!

That picture of your kiddos all comfy cozy in sleeping bags makes me want to ask a Santa for one myself!! ????????????????

  • Sarah November 25, 2016 at 6:41 am

Thanks for sharing!! My husband is in the market for button-ups for work and I just told him about J Crew haha and am showing him the site! He works in construction, but is actually up for a big promotion which would require semi-formal clothing. Probably getting ahead of ourselves, but figured I’d start shopping for him now 🙂

Hope you enjoy your day!! Happy Black Friday!

  • Shae mortimer November 25, 2016 at 6:52 am

When you’re Amazon shopping, be sure to start at! At no additional cost to you, Amazon donates .5% of the price of your eligible purchases to the nonprofit of your choice when you start your shopping with that URL. Same prices, same products, you can use Prime, etc. it sounds like a small amount, but it really does add up! 🙂

  • Beth Miller November 25, 2016 at 6:54 am

If your hubby is a hunter or you do many cold weather things, you might like the Zippo hand warmer, found on Amazon! My hunting hubby is getting one for Christmas so he can use it again and again! I’m getting my Dad one too for when he’s working on his farm in the winter.

  • Vanda November 25, 2016 at 7:06 am

Thank you for sharing your gift ideas! What lipstick are you wearing in that first picture of you & Andrew in his J.Crew shirt? It looks like it’s a deep shade of cranberry..very pretty on you! Thank you and have a great day!

    • Mix and Match Mama November 25, 2016 at 7:15 am

Thank you so much! Would you also mind sharing what eye shadows you are wearing in the picture of you & Andrew where you are wearing your cream scarf? It looks like a beautiful amethyst color! I also have blue eyes and it makes your blue eyes really stand out! Thank you!

        • Mix and Match Mama November 26, 2016 at 5:04 am

It’s one of those Bobbi Brown ones I love so much (check out my makeup post from a few weeks ago) in a plum color :).

  • Francie November 25, 2016 at 7:14 am

Awesome gift ideas! Happy Black Friday, Shay! Now off to do alot of online shopping. Thanks!

  • Nicole November 25, 2016 at 7:15 am

Bootie questions 😉 With booties, do you not cuff your jeans now? Also, with no socks…if you go to someone’s house and take your shoes off, do you bring slippers? Sounds so silly, just curious what you do! Haha. Help a girl out! 😉

    • Mix and Match Mama November 25, 2016 at 7:16 am

Hahahaha! I haven’t been cuffing them lately. No, I do not wear socks (I don’t know why??? I think I’m weird.) I typically don’t take my shoes off inside people’s homes (and they don’t in mind) unless asked and then I would just go barefoot. Is that weird??? Ha!

    • Sanna November 25, 2016 at 4:58 pm

I love this question, so funny but so true, the dilemma of taking shoes off when you’re barefoot in your booties. Haha! I am probably really weird, but I carry fuzzy socks in my purse almost all of the time. Especially when I go to someone’s home and stay a while. I always put a pair of clean comfy fuzzy socks on. It makes me feel more comfortable. I have a pair in the glove compartment of my car too, just in case. This sounds weird, but on many occasions I have been really happy I have them with me. I also do this when flying. I take my shoes off immediately once seated and the fuzzy soft socks go on.

  • Melissa November 25, 2016 at 7:22 am

Great gift ideas. Love the bootie. Would you mine sharing info on the wine/burgundy dress in the background. It would be nice for upcoming holiday parties and church. Thanks & have a great weekend!

  • Kami November 25, 2016 at 8:46 am

Love this post so much! What size do you wear in the J Crew shirts & being 5’6″ I shouldn’t need tall? I’m dying for more plaid! Happy holidays to your amazing family!

    • Mix and Match Mama November 25, 2016 at 9:14 am

I always buy a zero…and you might want to get the tall, yes!

  • Lauren Bullock November 25, 2016 at 10:23 am

Hi Shay!! GREAT gift ideas for men.. question for you, what size does Andrew get in his shirts? My guy is tall and buff just like that so it is ALWAYS tricky to order anything online for him!!

      XLarge 🙂

  • Karen November 25, 2016 at 10:32 am

  • anita November 25, 2016 at 11:04 am

Shay, will you please do a blog on what, when, and how much you eat in a day! I promise it would be a big hit with everyone! You have the cutest, tiniest figure but seem to enjoy food so much! Do you ever gain weight? Please give us your secrets! Thanks sweetie!!!!

    • Mix and Match Mama November 26, 2016 at 5:07 am

Hahaha! I just shoved a handful of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios in my mouth right before I read this and I LOL! I can do a post on that sometime, but in the meantime, I would say it’s: genetics, enjoying real food in small portions and being active.

  • Angela Ellingson November 25, 2016 at 11:10 am

Those sleeping bags and bean bags for the kids are dreamy! And I love all of your clothes! Excited to hear about your other ideas.

Can anyone please give ideas for what to buy the man in your life. I am fresh out of ideas. In years past, I have given him a Keurig machine, a Sonicare electric toothbrush, countless shirts, a nice robe, Uggs for walking the dog, a chef’s kitchen knife set, a phone holder for in the car that you clip onto the vents. He likes stuff he can use (like most men). Help!!

  • Hope November 25, 2016 at 7:10 pm

Where is the black leather jacket from in one of your pictures in this post?

    • Mix and Match Mama November 26, 2016 at 5:02 am

I bought it at Nordstrom last year.

  • Tracie November 25, 2016 at 9:11 pm

Thank you for all these great ideas! I just bought 3 of the infinity scarves – 2 for gifts and 1 for me!

  • Melody Knapp November 25, 2016 at 9:33 pm

My girl is getting a Welly Wisher American Girl doll too. And a matching outfit and the accessory pack that has a mermaid tail you can slip on your doll. She is going to freak out. I’m so excited for her to open it and it’s not even December yet. Lol ????

  • Melody Knapp November 25, 2016 at 9:35 pm

P.S. I ordered your cookbook as a gift for some of the ladies in my family! I’m excited to give that too.

  • Amy November 26, 2016 at 1:01 am

The bootie link took me to another pair of booties, am I clicking on the wrong link?

    • Mix and Match Mama November 26, 2016 at 5:01 am

I just tried and it’s working! It pulls up the brown pair, you just need to click on the black option to see mine :).

  • Lynn November 26, 2016 at 8:58 am

      Twice a week, I go to a weight/cardio combo class :).

  • Tiffany November 26, 2016 at 4:04 pm

Hi Shay! Is Smith’s bean bag in the picture the large size as well? I would like to get one for my daughter with special needs–she’s 4 and doesn’t sit unassisted and I’m trying to decide on the size. Do they form to your body? Just trying to decide if she could sit up in one and if the smaller one might be better as far as forming to the shape of her body. Side note–she goes to TSRHC too and we love it!;)

    • Mix and Match Mama November 27, 2016 at 4:32 am

Yes, they both have the large ones. I would probably say she needs a smaller one. I think it might be harder in the large one. xo

  • Brooke November 26, 2016 at 6:18 pm

Hi Shay! Thanks for the post and great gift ideas! I love them all! I spy a little Louis Vuitton on your hip in one pic, what style is that, if you don’t mind me asking? It looks like the perfect cross body. Thank you!

    • Mix and Match Mama November 27, 2016 at 4:31 am

I can never remember the names! I’ll try and find it for you!

  • Claire Burke November 27, 2016 at 7:57 am

I ordered the leopard clutch about 3-4 weeks ago that you had on one of your posts from Heart and Home. I haven’t received it yet and haven’t seen a response to my inquiry to the site owner. Did your take a while to receive?

    • Mix and Match Mama November 27, 2016 at 2:17 pm

It did take a while because they flew off the shelves and she had to restock.

  • Bernadine November 27, 2016 at 12:27 pm

Please can you do a video tutorial on how you do your makeup and hair one day? Perhaps a day in the life post in a video as well….

  • Erin November 27, 2016 at 1:46 pm

Shay! Great gift ideas! These hats from Love Your Melon are EVERYTHING! The story behind them is amazing and they’re for such a great cause! A MUST for gift giving! Happy Holidays 🙂

  • Meredith November 27, 2016 at 3:19 pm

  • Maurie November 28, 2016 at 7:23 am

Love the t-shirt quilt in the pic of Kensington!!! Who made it for you?? I have lots of old sorority shirts and my husband has lots of shirt from his college football playing days. I’ve always wanted to turn them into quilts.

  • Natalie Juns November 28, 2016 at 9:43 am

I’ve been trying to find where you got the big leopard clutch? I can’t find the first post where you were talking about it. What website is it from? I loved it! Thanks so much!

  • Maurie November 28, 2016 at 10:03 am

Love the t-shirt quilt in pic of Kensington!!! Where did you have it made?? I have lots of old sorority t-shirts and my husband has tons of t-shirts from his college football playing days.
