Life Lately

Happy happy happy Thursday!

Here’s a little look at life lately…

At dance last week, Kensington brought these little characters and all of the girls swarmed to play with them before class.  No matter how big these girls think they are, they immediately drop what they’re doing to play with a tiny Belle doll 🙂 .

Speaking of that girl…I love her so much.  We played with the frisbee out front after school and just chatted about life as we threw it back and forth.  This one’s a keeper.

When you’re just so tired.  She slept like this until 10:30 AM.

I’ve been making Fridays our “stay at home and do nothing” days.  We play outside, we bake, we color, we craft…we do nothing…and it’s glorious.

She’s a big fan of Fridays too!

On Saturday morning, the four of us went for a walk.  Two of the girls were pumped…the other was still a little sleepy 🙂 .

Saturday mornin’ with my girls!

We parked the bike and stroller and headed out to walk and see the fish.  These two have such a special bond.

Later that day, I took this one to get a mani and pedi while the little girls napped.

And then on Sunday afternoon, I took Smith to a friend’s birthday party.  The theme was “backwards” and everyone was supposed to come with their clothes all backwards…he LOVED this theme!

Ashby Shull is just one of the boys 🙂 .  They’re all so good to her!

Speaking of these two and their bond…aren’t they just so sweet?!  I’m so happy that they love each other so much!  Kensington takes such good care of Madeley.

And thanks to this beautiful weather, I’ve been spending time outside with this stinker while the big three are at school.  Here she is so excited to have Ashby’s bike all to herself.

That’s life lately.

So sweet! I am loving this warm weather! The weather has been great here in GA, as well! We have already grilled twice! It feels so weird hanging on the back deck and grilling in February!! 😉

It makes me smile to see all your kids so friendly with each other. As an only child, I could only wish for a sibling! Hehe.

Do you have a secret way of keeping your kids healthy? Vitamins, certain foods, I don’t know, magic?! 😉 It just doesn’t seem like they are sick much with common viruses, flu, etc. Happy Friday Eve!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 5:02 am

I always laugh and say it’s because I’m not too cautious (three second rule, anyone!). I have no clue why…but they have been a healthy little bunch of people :).

What a great life lately! That picture of Ashby with the boys is so sweet! And, what an awesome picture of all four! Precious!

  • Erika Slaughter February 23, 2017 at 5:00 am

Smith looks stoked to have his clothes on backwards but that had to be so uncomfortable. Right? Jeans on backwards?!

  • Sheaffer Sims February 23, 2017 at 5:17 am

I mean, I’ve worn my underwear backwards, but never my jeans. 🙂 Hasn’t this weather been amazing? We’ve been spending so much time outside!

That picture of Madeley sleeping in the highchair …. cracks me up!

  • Stacy February 23, 2017 at 5:38 am

Silly question — but I’m always looking for a new water glass with a straw — where is that cute glitter one from ??

    • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 5:48 am

      My friend Amanda makes them!

      • Meg February 23, 2017 at 10:42 am

        Does she sell them?

        • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 11:36 am

Yes! You can find her on IG at @thatinspiredchick 🙂

    • Amanda February 23, 2017 at 8:48 am

Hey Stacy! I just saw your comment when I was leaving mine! They are in my Etsy shop if you want one! http://www.thatinspiredchick.etsy.com 🙂 (Shay, if this is bad blog etiquette for me to jump in here, just delete it! Eek! Sorry, friend!)

I’m just curious, how do you (and your friends with kids) handle all the birthday parties? Do you feel like you are always buying gifts? I love gifting others but just with family and close friends, it can get expensive!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 5:48 am

I really try and give gifts that my kids pick out for their friends but are relatively inexpensive. I use Amazon Prime a lot for this!

  • Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams February 23, 2017 at 5:47 am

Your walks look so sweet, I hope they continue to go for them with you into adulthood. It’s one of my favorite things to do with my mom and aunts 🙂 Smith is just too funny with his clothes backwards!

We’ve been spending so much time outside lately too and I love it! We’re in NC and spring has definitely come early – no complaints!!

I have a question not related to this post, haha. Do your kiddos go to private, public or charter school? Thoughts? How did you decide?? My oldest is starting kindergarten and I am SO TORN on where to send her!!

    Thanks!!

My kiddos go to public school. I’m really happy with our school system here and the neighborhood school is fantastic!

  • WHitney Kallenbach February 23, 2017 at 6:26 am

I love your family! Your posts just always make me feel really good, thank you!

  • Erica @ Whimsical September February 23, 2017 at 6:32 am

Smith is so handsome! He’s going to be such a little heartbreaker! Fridays are usually our day to camp out at home too. Everybody needs it after a busy week!

  • Lizzie @ This Happy Life February 23, 2017 at 6:49 am

I always have one day of the week where we stay home and do nothing as well, it is needed!! Seriously, your kids are too cute!!

  • Angela Ellingson February 23, 2017 at 7:27 am

Such sweet kiddos! Kensington is such a little mama!

  • Lisa February 23, 2017 at 8:12 am

  • emily @ a little bit of emily February 23, 2017 at 8:21 am

So many great pictures. Love the one with Ashby and the boys – too cute!

  • Jennifer February 23, 2017 at 8:22 am

Love your Life Lately posts! What kind of stroller is it that you use on your walks? I have several strollers but none of them work for all situations or are convenient for my two. Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 11:39 am

      That’s a double Bob :).

  • Lauren M February 23, 2017 at 8:23 am

Your family is literally GOALS. So perfect and so sweet. Its so special how close all your kids are and how much they love each other!

  • Mackensey February 23, 2017 at 8:36 am

Your kiddos are so sweet-I love how they each have their special little relationships within the mix 🙂 It gives me hope that one day my boys won’t spend all of their time trying to kill each other 😉

  • cassie {hi sugarplum} February 23, 2017 at 8:40 am

That darling Madeley is just blossoming in your family!!! Such precious pics…happy almost Friday, friend!

  • Kara February 23, 2017 at 8:43 am

Great pictures…favorite one is of Madeley in the high chair….and so fourth child-DON’T DARE MOVE! My second favorite is of Ashby so tired-what a trooper. Also, kudos to you for not forcing her to eat breakfast. I have finally let that one go for mine-piece of toast…works for me. Last thought, what a special time throwing the Frisbee with Kensington, something she will not forget.

  • Amanda February 23, 2017 at 8:46 am

Oh my goodness! That picture of Ashby with the boys is the best!! I can see it being framed forever and her sitting it on her nightstand in her dorm room when she goes off to college. Sweet girl and those protective boys!

  • Amanda February 23, 2017 at 9:02 am

These kinds of posts are oddly calming to me. The simplicity and the joy. I miss my kids being little. Thank you for sharing!

  • Kelly February 23, 2017 at 9:12 am

Beautiful pic of you and your sweet Kensington! I love seeing your life lately. Thank you 🙂

      Madeley* 🙂 oh auto correct

  • Megan February 23, 2017 at 11:27 am

I love the idea of do nothing days. I need to make a better effort at slowing down with my kids.

Do you ever use nap time to fit in your work out? Or do you moreso aim to be active during the day and if working out, get that in always in the morning?

    • Mix and Match Mama February 23, 2017 at 1:55 pm

I always get it in first thing. I just can’t seem to get motivated any other time of the day.

  • LindyB February 23, 2017 at 2:17 pm

What high chair is that and do you love it? We are trying to decide on one and it looks similar to one our top picks!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 24, 2017 at 5:05 am

I think it’s just a basic Graco one???

  • Megan February 23, 2017 at 8:28 pm

Your kids are so beautiful. I literally smile everyday when I see the smiles on Ashby and Madely and think how lucky they are that God brought them to you. Adoption really is amazing! What a perfect little family. ?

  • Lindsay Blake February 24, 2017 at 1:17 pm

Where is your sweater from in the first photo with Kensington? Sorry if you’ve linked to it before – I tried to look back at past posts to see if you mentioned it, but couldn’t find anything. Thank you!

    • Mix and Match Mama February 24, 2017 at 2:00 pm

It was from Nordstrom. I bought it during the fall!

  • bethany February 26, 2017 at 7:00 pm
