Life Lately.

Hey there Thursday.

Here’s a little life lately for you…

Driveway shenanigans with these three.

These two were just sitting at the bar talking to me about this and that and I had to get a picture.  Where did those babies go that used to live at my house??? Someone replaced them with BIG kids!

I just can’t get enough Madeley in my life.

In the living history museum at school, Kensington was Betsy Ross.  She worked and worked on her research of Mrs. Ross and did an amazing job on her speech.  We were so proud of her!

The little girls thought she did a great job too!  Side note, Smith says he’s going to be Derek Jeter next year in the living history museum. Ha!

My sweet grandparents are in their 90s but always remember to send cards for each and every holiday.  Here my kids are tearing into their Easter cards.  I just love my grandparents!

After tee ball practice the other night, Ashby went to dance, so I walked back to my house with just Madeley and Bowen.  The three of us always have a good time together!

On Friday morning, I walked into the living room and saw this.  Sisters.

And then on Friday afternoon, we went to the airport to see some of our dear friends come home from China with their little girl!  What a special day that was!!!

Two less orphans in the world.

Adoption is AMAZING!  Families are made, love is shared and lives are changed.

Here they are!  Welcome home Willow!!!!

Ashby was SO excited about meeting Willow!!!

They’re going to be great friends :).

Miss Madeley reminding everyone to buy Eats!  This cookbook is going to make your spring and summer supper situation super simple!

For Christmas, we got Smith one of those Crayola Air Marker Sprayers and he loves it.  He doesn’t want to sit down and color as much as he wants to sit down and spray marker everywhere. 😉

Happy little colorers!  And side note, Ashby woke up with a bruise on her cheek…and we have no idea how it got there?!

Four happy kids coloring while mom makes dinner…or the calm before the storm.  Hmmm…

Weeeeeeeeeeeee!  They zip around the house all day long!

Every morning, we check our veggies in the garden.  On this particular morning, we found some strawberries to enjoy!

After the three big kids went to school, Madeley and I set off for a morning walk.  She started pointing towards Starbucks (a few blocks from our house) saying “Peez Mommy!  Drink!” and because I’m apparently a sucker, we ended up there :).

That’s a little life lately for you!

See you tomorrow.

xo

I’ve never heard of that marker sprayer before but it looks like Smith is enjoying himself. It reminds me of the spray tan machine. Think it’d work? 😉

Your kids are ALL adorable … but your Ashby looks so beautiful and delicate and sweet … she melts my heart.

    • Mix and Match Mama April 20, 2017 at 5:57 am

      She is exactly that :).

  • Caroline April 20, 2017 at 6:04 am

Your grandparents are in their nineties!?! Haha that just totally shocked me because they all look SO much younger than that… great genes!!!

  • Sarah April 20, 2017 at 6:06 am

Awww your kiddos are so sweet!!! Do you have a post on how you handle sibling conflict? My two older girls (4 and 3 — they are 16 months apart) get along relatively well I’d say 50% of the time (on a good day, ha). The rest of the time they seem to be at each other’s throats all day long. I’ve tried ignoring it and letting them work it out (which doesn’t happen), sending them to time-outs, taking away fun stuff, etc., and really nothing works. Not sure if it’s the ages, the personalities or me just not knowing how to handle them!!! Anywho, thanks!! Love your blog! 🙂

    • Mix and Match Mama April 20, 2017 at 8:10 am

Pottery Barn! I bought it for entertaining but then thought…why not use it all the time? It’s really encouraged all of my kids to drink more water! This morning, I added orange slices to it :).

  • Natalie April 20, 2017 at 8:18 am

    Thanks so much Shay…?

  • Danielle Rigg April 20, 2017 at 8:32 am

Ashby welcoming Willow home, just brought sweet teats to my eyes! Love the braiding picturing of the girls – they are so full of love and joy. Enjoy every blessed moment with them all.

  • Amanda @ That Inspired Chick April 20, 2017 at 8:37 am

That crayola spray thing looks like something Mason and Matthew would LOVE! Is it messy though? I can totally see Mason spraying the couch “accidentally”. hahaha

      Surprisingly, not!

  • Deb Weber April 20, 2017 at 8:41 am

I remember you had a post about your daughter presenting a school report on China. My son is doing the same at his school. We are looking for ideas on the food to share with his class. Do you mind sharing what you and your daughter made for her class? Thank you!

    • Mix and Match Mama April 20, 2017 at 1:26 pm

We brought in the basics…fried rice and fortune cookies. Those two things are easy to stretch for a crowd of parents and little ones.

  • Kelly Nagy April 20, 2017 at 9:00 am

Love this post! Can you share with M&A’s shorts are from in the airport pics? So cute!

  • Denise April 20, 2017 at 9:35 am

Love following your adorable family. I have read your posts on facial care and makeup products. I am closer in age to your mother and would be curious to know what products she uses to stay looking so young 🙂 Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama April 20, 2017 at 1:24 pm

After reading my post, she switched to the Estee Lauder night cream and Rodan + Fields. And she ALWAYS uses Retin A!

  • Anne April 20, 2017 at 11:03 am

That picture of Ashby and Madeley in their One t-shirts is wonderful. I have to say that while Madeley is cute and adorable, I can tell from the picture Ashby is going to be a beauty.

  • Abie April 20, 2017 at 11:27 am

Your hair color always looks amazing! Can you recommend a good hair person in McKinney?

    • Mix and Match Mama April 20, 2017 at 1:18 pm

My hair person is not in McKinney (she’s about 45 minutes away). Email me and I’d be happy to share her info!

  • Amanda April 20, 2017 at 11:32 am

Madeley is the most adorable little nugget. I would not be able to say no to her either!!!!

  • Carly April 20, 2017 at 11:49 am

Ashby looks like she went into big sister mode to welcome sweet Willow home. The picture of her and Madeley driving the car is my favorite. What a great week!

  • Francie April 20, 2017 at 12:13 pm

    Such sweet pics! http://www.supersimpleways.com

  • Gwen H. April 20, 2017 at 1:25 pm

I love all your posts, but this one was just extra special…. You have the most precious family. I totally agree with you about Miss Madeley! I love every ounce of her little marshmallow squishy adorable self!! I just want to scoop her up and hug her every time I see her picture in a post. She is scrumptious!!

  • Gwen H. April 20, 2017 at 1:34 pm

Shay, would you ask your friends if you could mention their Instagram adoption journey name? I love to read about the stories of these precious children being found by their forever family.

    • Mix and Match Mama April 21, 2017 at 6:01 am

      She’s @embraceandgrace 🙂

      • Gwen H. April 21, 2017 at 10:38 pm

  • Sarah @ Foxy's Domestic Side April 20, 2017 at 4:46 pm

Your little family is just the cutest. Love seeing all of the pictures each week. Although I may not comment, I”m reading. Thanks for sharing.

  • Megan Butler April 20, 2017 at 5:16 pm

Okay Kensington has grown up so much!! She looks like a little lady instead of a kid. When did that happen??

  • Jeanie April 20, 2017 at 5:54 pm

I love these “Lately” posts. Ashby is getting so big. Her complexion is gorgeous; she reminds me of a porcelain China doll. Little Willow looks like a very happy little girl.

  • Erin Port April 20, 2017 at 10:25 pm

Love those shirts your girls are wearing! Where did you find them? Love your darling kids ❤

  • Megan April 20, 2017 at 11:59 pm

I noticed you have a water dispenser (I think ) on your counter in a few pics, do you fill that up every day or? And is at how to track your water intake?? Or Is it for decoration? (I couldn’t tell from the picture)

    • Mix and Match Mama April 21, 2017 at 5:59 am

I fill it up every day. My kids think it’s fun to drink water from there :).

  • JoAnn April 21, 2017 at 5:20 am

Beautiful family! I would love to know where you find your coordinated/matching outfits for the girls. Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama April 21, 2017 at 5:58 am

      Matilda Jane 🙂

  • Sandra Hunter April 21, 2017 at 12:35 pm

It was so heartwarming to see Ashby welcoming the newly adopted girl from China. Every child adopted from China means one less child lying unloved and unattended in a crib. And that’s a good thing!

  • Amy Rae DeVito April 24, 2017 at 12:54 am

Kensington looks so adorable as Betsy Ross!

The photo of your girls doing their hair together reminds me of when my sister (who is 13 years) older than me used to do my hair and it also reminds me of the time my cousins and I used to do each others’ hair sitting in front of each other like your girls are doing! Too sweet and precious for words!

It is so wonderful to see a beautiful child being adopted into a loving family! Ashby welcoming her new friend home is so very precious and special! It made me tear up!

    Lots of Llama Love! <3

  • Detroit Duchess April 24, 2017 at 12:06 pm

Good choice on Derek Jeter Smith! I love my Yankees 😉
