Welcome y’all! It’s fall!

For as long as I’ve been blogging, I’ve been posting pics of my house decorated for fall and then again for Christmas…because it just makes me HAPPY!  These are my favorite posts to read on other blogs, so I always include them here too.  I mean…let’s be honest, the decorations don’t change much from year to year, so it is a wee bit repetitive, but it still makes me HAPPY every single time, so today, I’m doing it again.  I’ve been collecting fall decorations for 14 years now, so many of these pieces are old, but if it’s something new or something I know is still in stock, I’ll mention.  If not, sit back, relax and welcome to the Shull’s house…

I am obsessed with pumpkins that have big stems.  And Andrew came home with these babies the other day and I was FLOORED!  How pretty are those stems?  My stone pumpkins are from a place in Joplin, MO called Sandstone Gardens.

We light candles inside them at night when guests are over and they’re so pretty all lit up!

These cuties welcome you as you come inside the door.  They make me happy.

Hi, my name is Shay and I buy too many pillows.  All of the fall pillows are from Pottery Barn.  (And PS: the lighting is never good at this window.)

I use a strand of Christmas lights to make my mercury pumpkin glow.

The pumpkin on the hearth is from Hobby Lobby.  I bought him years ago, but they still sell them there today.

I love using battery operated candles in places like this!  You get the glow without the fire hazard.

I bought this pumpkin this year off of Pottery Barn Kids’ site.  There’s one of those battery operated candles in him too.

This pillow is from this year.  He makes me smile.

This is one of those signs my friend Amanda makes!  You can see her Etsy store HERE.

We love collecting the little spook houses (and Christmas houses too).

My friend Lori makes these plates here locally (she does not ship).  You go to her house and pick your plate and design and then she stamps your kids’ feet and/or hands.  After that, she works her magic and creates a beautiful plate.  This was one of my very first ones.  They are probably my FAVORITE things in my house!

Every year, Pottery Barn Kids introduces four new Halloween plates for kids…as you can see, we have quite the collection!

My four little turkeys.

These candles are so good!  And this is our newest little spook house 🙂 .

Ha!  As I was walking around taking pics of the house, this sweet guy showed up unexpectedly with a Pumpkin Spice Latte…because after 13 years of marriage he knows EXACTLY how to get to my heart.

I mean…we’re cheesy sometimes, but that’s okay 🙂 .

We’re all drinking tea over here these days (my kids picked up the habit this past winter when I did too), so we have tea cups (they could be coffee mugs, but we use them for tea) with our initials on them.

And Amanda did this sign too 🙂 .

Andrew’s mom had this skeleton hanging in their house growing up, and when we got married, she passed him down to us.  He comes out every Halloween.

A pumpkin in my office too!

I bought these polka dot pumpkins at Hobby Lobby this year for the little girls’ closet.

Smith thinks this pillow is hysterical.

And one last pumpkin for our post.

Wishing you a warm and cozy fall from my home to yours!

And don’t forget, if you didn’t enter to win my $500 Norsdtrom Giveaway yesterday, you can do so HERE.

I love reading and seeing all this fall inspiration!! This is my first fall in Texas (I’m in McKinney, too!), and this heat is doing its best to kill my fall vibe. All I want to do is wear a comfy sweater and boots!! But I’m pullin out my pumpkins and fall garland anyway!

  • Claudia September 21, 2017 at 8:12 am

It looks so warm and cozy. I’m curious about how and and where you store everything. That’s always a problem for me, where to put all the stuff. How about a post on storage and organization of house stuff?

  • Judy September 21, 2017 at 8:21 am

What is that quilted champagne colored fabric that is on your sofa (with the pumpkin pillow and fur pillows? It looks similar to something that I put on my couch to protect it from my dog — but yours is much prettier. Thanks.

  • Dawn Scheurich September 21, 2017 at 8:21 am

I live in Joplin, and I LOVE Sandstone Gardens!! I bought the cutest metal pumpkin there years ago and it is one of my favorite things to come out every Fall!!

  • Desiree | Beautifully Seaside September 21, 2017 at 8:22 am

Love your fall home Shay! I’m getting ready to start decorating for fall over here too, now that Hurricane Irma is gone and we have electricity. I’m happy that I got to light my first pumpkin candle of the season yesterday. Now my home smells liek coffee and pumpkin! Hooray! XO

  • MelanieL September 21, 2017 at 8:27 am

I always love your fall décor!

  • Crystal Deweese September 21, 2017 at 8:28 am

It all looks beautiful! Do you go through and take down the Halloween stuff after Oct. 31, but leave the other Fall items up through Thanksgiving? I always struggle to buy Halloween specific items because it looks bare when I remove them.

  • Paige E September 21, 2017 at 8:30 am

Weird question – do you go around the house and turn on all the little lights each day, or only when you have company? Or maybe get the kids to help? That’s always my dilemma. I love all the lights, but I get lazy about turning all of them on every day…

  • Julie Anderson September 21, 2017 at 8:34 am

Looks so warm and inviting!! I am a neighbor (in Frisco) and just wish the weather would cool off a teeny tiny bit so it would feel like fall! 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
I make fun kitchen towels and have new Halloween and Fall designs. I would love to send you a couple to add to your decor!

  • heidi September 21, 2017 at 8:35 am

    I love fall so much.
Give me a pumpkin and a candle and add in a spiced pumpkin steamed milk ( deelish) and I’m about the happiest person alive lol

  • Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams September 21, 2017 at 8:37 am

Your house looks so fun as always Shay! I always like how you collect the pottery barn plates for Halloween & Christmas. I also really like the homemade hand/feet print plates too. Such sweet traditions 🙂

House goals! I decorated Wednesday and thanks to your post I realized I never took out our fall/Halloween mugs! 🙂 We have Disney ones! Also, not part of your fall decor tour, but I’m obsessed with the two paintings over your mantles! Happy Fall!!!

  • kellie carrara September 21, 2017 at 8:38 am

I love all the festiveness fall brings! I just started to decorate my porch…have the mums in my urns, red wagon with hay bales and pumpkins on my porch and the pumpkins going up my steps. This weekend I’ll get things going inside! Thanks for the inspiration! It’s a cool fall-like morning here in the Boston burbs, but it’s warming back up this weekend.

  • Maryann Keller September 21, 2017 at 8:39 am

So much to love about fall! High school football games are just one of our family’s favorites 🙂

  • Angela Shields September 21, 2017 at 8:44 am

I love all of your fall decorations. Your blog is my favorite 😊 Where did you get your bedding from? It’s beautiful!

  • Crystal September 21, 2017 at 8:48 am

Silly question. Do you take down the Halloween decor after Halloween such as the trick or treat pumpkins or leave it up through Thanksgiving with the rest of the fall decor? I’ve always wondered if I should take those things down or leave them up..lol

  • Jocie September 21, 2017 at 8:59 am

Shay! You would appreciate Chobani’s pumpkin spice greek yogurt so much! Your kiddos might too!! Also I tried a pumpkin spice oatmeal! Mine was just store bought and maybe you are creative enough to make your own but man it is good!!! I think Smith and I have a similar taste in humor! Love that pillow

Awe … Andrew just inspired me to drop off lunch for my husband at work today. It’s the little things, right? I love your three-tiered pumpkin with the black cat. Always gorgeous! Can you show us how you organize all your decor through the seasons? Do you have bins for every occasion? Sorted by rooms? Our family and home is pretty new and I would love to start collecting some special items for each holiday but right now we struggle with the space! I’m also not that organized lol Love from Canada!

  • Jess September 21, 2017 at 9:44 am

  • Rebecca September 21, 2017 at 10:20 am

Love it, I may just have to grab the mugs and the “Every Year I Fall For…” sign:) Any chance you would share where you found the girls small dresser? We just moved in to our new home and it would be perfect for my daughter’s room. Hope your fall is a wonderful one!!

  • Danielle September 21, 2017 at 10:27 am

LOVE Fall decorations! They make me happy, too!
What do you do in the weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving, when the jack-o-lanters and spooky houses aren’t applicable anymore, but it’s not quite time for Christmas decor? I never know what to do and usually just end up skipping over Halloween decor altogether so I can leave it all up longer. (Because I’m all about maximum decoration enjoyment with the least amount of work haha!)

  • Astleigh H. September 21, 2017 at 10:43 am

I love fall home tours (and Christmas for that matter!) too! They’re so cozy and fun! I shared my fall home tour today too, with couple of other blogging gals! You’ll have to check them all out! Happy Fall!

Gorgeous, I love the candles in particular, would love to learn where you get them. I recognize the bath and bodyworks one and I can make out the other which says Trapp but I can’t the white one. Shay, I love everything! And I love how you incorporate both Halloween decor and Fall, I always seem to struggle with that so I started waiting until Oct to do Halloween and then November for fall but I really dislike waiting and having no decor up in Sept!! I need to do what you do!

  • Christie Asmussen September 25, 2017 at 3:12 pm

    Shay,
Looking through your great blog, and I just love the plates with the hand and feet prints. I was wondering if you could share the contact information for your friend that makes them. I think this is such a fabulous idea, and would love to do one as a gift.
I have just recently found your blog, but you have wonderful ideas and recipes.

I love your decorations! I need to see a post on how you store all your holiday decorations. That is my big barrier to entry – everything is in tubs in the basement taking up a lot of space and the next holiday is packed behind everything else. Do you have a system to keep this organized? #Itsstillfourthofjulyinmyhouse #decorfail

    • Mix and Match Mama October 11, 2017 at 1:22 pm

I just put everything in bins in my attic. It’s not a fancy system ;).

    1. What are your top 2 fav candles from B&BW?
    2. Do your lamps match if they are in the same room for example the living room ?
    3. This might be a silly question, do you store your monogram mugs or holiday platters in the attic as well or do you keep those stored in your kitchen cabinets throughout the year ?

You’re fine!! I love Leaves and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin the most. No, they do not match. I keep those things in cabinets that are way up high (you know, the ones you don’t use because they’re hard to reach). 🙂
