A November #OOTD !

I’m going to be honest, I was not going to blog today because, hello?  I’m still coming off of Halloween.  BUT I found these jeans and have been loving them and thought, I’d do an old-fashioned Outfit of the Day post instead 😉 .  One outfit with some fun pieces that we can wear all fall and winter long.

Let’s work backwards now, shall we?

So, this is my final outfit.  My new jeans (more on those in just a bit), my over the knee boots, a sweater (yes, the same one I showed you last week but in cream because IT IS SO AMAZING!), and my little jacket from the Anniversary Sale 2016 (similar one HERE).  All things I love.

Here it is without the jacket.  Remember the sweater from Friday…

I just loved it so much, I went back and grabbed cream too.

These boots are Steve Madden which means THEY’RE COMFY!  Amen.

Look how cute the back of the boots are!

So, it all started with my new jeans.

I was getting my hair highlighted last week and lamenting to my stylist/friend that I’m so sad that Gap has been disappointing me these days.  Remember how much I used to love Gap?  Remember???  I was a Gap addict!  But they have realllllly been letting me down.  Anyway, we were chatting about Gap when she told me that Old Navy was the new Gap.  I was like, really?  And she was like, YES!  Then she pointed to the super cute jeans she had on and told me they were from Old Navy.  I. Loved. Them.

I thought the distressing was fun and the price was PERFECT!  She told me to size down, so I did, and they fit like a glove!  I have worn them now three times and am so pleased!

So, that’s it.  I love my new jeans and wanted you to know about it 🙂 .  I bought “dark worn” wash but they in many other colors (black, gray, red, white, etc).  Then just yesterday, I looked over at Gap and saw that they had some of their holiday stuff out…and it made me happy because the stuff was pretty cute.  I ordered a few things, so we’ll see.  Gap always shines this time of year…maybe they’ll be shining again this holiday season?!  I’ll keep you posted 🙂 .

Happy November, friends!

Happy November! I really like your first outfit – it’s so simple, but the clean and neutral colours make it great for fall. The sweater looks really cosy as well!

I love this outfit! Perfect for fall and winter! I am not sure what size to get in the sweater. It says to size down but I don’t want it to be tight(: Did you order your regular size? I hope you had a great time with your kids last night!

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 1, 2017 at 5:32 am

I ordered xs which would be my regular size. I don’t think I would recommend sizing down.

I have two pairs of ON jeans that I like!! I bought them after having my third baby, so they’re a bit big now, but I do like the style/fit. I’ll need to grab a few more pairs that actually fit, haha.
Also, have you tried Express jeans? I bought a pair over the weekend and they are great!! My only complaint is they’re mid-rise, which I didn’t realize (I prefer mid/low).
I always forget about Gap!! A friend of mine just got some cute things from there, I’ll have to check it out!!
    Happy November!!!

Speaking of jeans, after all the candy I ate last night I probably need to order some new ones. 🙂

You’re right about GAP shining during the holidays! There is a sherpa hoodie cardigan thing that I’ve been hearing about. I need to just order it already. And those jeans are darling on you!

Hi Shay. I loved your Halloween costume. I didn’t recognize you until you posted your family photo. So clever. Anyway I’ve been wanting to order some Ugg slippers. I love the new ones you are wearing. Are those the chestnut or the tamarind suede? Have a lovely day.

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 1, 2017 at 5:55 am

      Those are chestnut 🙂 .

My mom and I were just talking about how GAP wasn’t what it used to be! We used to shop there all the time and now it’s really hit or miss. I’ve never worn Old Navy jeans but they look so good on you!

Love this post…love Nordstom too, but I’ve really missed seeing your finds from Old Navy, Target and Gap.
And this is a crazy question…but do you ever just go barefoot around your house? I do and deal with dry/cracked heals and I usually get asked when I have pedicures if I go barefoot a lot. Just wondering if there is a connection.

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 1, 2017 at 6:43 am

My feet get so cold, so no, I hardly ever walk barefoot!!

    Hi Shay!

American Eagle jeans have changed my life! I don’t normally shop there but buy all of my jeans there now. They often have buy one get the other pair 50% off. Their free shipping and returns is super convenient too! The thing I like best about their jeans is the different sizing options. The high rise jeans are amazing. I’d never bought them before but don’t think I could go back now! I also love that they have different length options…short, regular, long, x-long. This is my current favourite pair:

    Have a great day!

    Hi Shay,
Did you order the regular or short inseam in the jeans? Or petite? (not sure of the difference) I’m 5’4″ so right in the middle. Thanks!

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 1, 2017 at 7:11 am

      I ordered regular!

I got the boyfriend distressed Old Navy jeans this summer and I loved them, I was so shocked because in the past ON jeans did not work for me. Yay Old Navy and their kids clothes this fall are on point too! xoxo ERIN

  • Reply Lauren D November 1, 2017 at 7:27 am

Little bit of info about Old Navy jeans – no matter how many times you wash, the ink comes off on any surface. My work desk chair is covered and I would keep my cell phone in my pocket and the case would turn a navy color. Just be careful! Another place to try is NY&Co. They have great jeans and always have coupons.

I love ON jeans! I am 5’3″ so I have trouble finding the right length that don’t need to be cuffed, and their short length is perfect.

As I was reading this post, I was thinking, “I have to tell Shay about the Old Navy Rockstar Jean.” But it seems that you have discovered it already haha. I have the regular midrise Rockstar jean in black that I am in LOVE with. So comfy and awesome price! Old Navy has been rocking it the past year. I have bought affordable dresses, athletic wear, pants, etc. Excited to see if you’ll feature any Old Navy clothing in the future 😉 Happy Wednesday!

These Rockstar Jeans from Old Navy are literally the only ones ill wear! they are so comfortable and look super cute!

  • Reply Jill Foster November 1, 2017 at 7:52 am

Old Navy is definitely the new Gap. I go into the store to try the clothes on, then come home and see how cheap I can order them on line. My goal is to never pay over twenty dollars! You can find the items on sale and then get another 30-40% off depending on the discount of the day. It’s turned into a fun game for me and has led to a closet full of Old Navy!

  • Reply Julie November 1, 2017 at 7:53 am

    I agree about Gap!

But!, I did just get their “print flannel sleep pants” (http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=38126&pcid=29504&vid=1&pid=920550022) and they are some of my favorite PJs EVER. They are just so soft and comfortable, I’ve been living in them. (Plus, cute sleep sweatshirts with sayings about coffee). I also got my kids the same plaid PJ pants and they also love.

Also, I made your witch’s brew last night for Halloween-the kids and parents LOVED. Thanks for sharing that recipe. Happy Fall-can’t wait to see your holiday decorations.

Oh I’m a Gap lifer and have been so, so let down by then lately. BUT I did try their new 360 stretch jeans and I’m in LOVE! Unlike ALL of their denim forever, these keep their shape and do not stretch out as you wear them. I’ve worn them 5 times before needing to wash. Maybe they’re making a comeback. Excited for holiday!

This will sound very 1994 😜, but I have been shopping a little bit at Abercrombie and Fitch! I went in because of my 11 year old daughter. They have cute jeans and I got a great military jacket and vest from there as well.
As for the Gap, their GapFit line is awesome right now…the leggings, this super cute jacquard funnel neck sweater/sweatshirt…you seriously need to order some things! They were all 40% off and will be again, I’m sure.

  • Reply Angela Ellingson November 1, 2017 at 8:30 am

I usually never shop at Old Navy. Something about the store is not my favorite. But just a few weeks ago 2 people referred me there for boots/booties for my daughters and sure enough they were the cutest ones I could find.

I’ve been hearing such good things about Old Navy Jeans lately too! Going to have to check them out!

  • Reply Kayla B November 1, 2017 at 9:07 am

So jealous you can wear suede shoes! Here in the midwest, by the time it’s cold enough to wear boots suede is out of the question cause of the salt and moisture on the roads. Cute outfit!

  • Reply Christi November 1, 2017 at 9:13 am

How high does the waist sit on you? I felt like the mid rise sat as high on me as high rise, where do these hit you?

    • Reply Mix and Match Mama November 1, 2017 at 12:35 pm

Right at the belly button. Not too high or too low.

  • Reply Jana November 1, 2017 at 9:14 am
