Friday Favorites

It’s Friday!!

Today, we’re wrapping up a little trip we took with the Slaughter family and heading back home.  We’re tired, we have a car full of wet swimsuits and hearts full of so many good memories!  We wanted to end Summer 2017 on a high, and we did!!  Oh summer, we do not want to see you go!

Just like every Friday, today, I’m linking up with three of my besties, AndreaErika and Narci and sharing my favorite things from the week.

As soon as I get back home, I have to hit reset because tomorrow, I’m heading back out of town for…

I’m going to be on QVC this Sunday at noon!

Back in July, I headed to Philadelphia to attend QVC School and it was an intense and fascinating day where I learned all about the #2 retailer in the United States.  It was all really quite mind blowing to see how QVC operates.  I learned sooooooo much about their brand, their audience and how they have a special way of doing things.  This Sunday, I will be in the kitchen cooking some recipes out of Eats and my newest book, Simmers!  You will be able to purchase both books together in a bundle this Sunday while I’m on air.  So, tune in and check us out!  I’m super pumped to be heading back to Philly and QVC land!  It’s seriously home to the nicest people on Earth 🙂 .

‘Tis that time of year!

Okay, I’m not very good at most things…but I do believe I’m an extraordinary Pinner on Pinterest 🙂 . I keep some great boards and always make sure to change them out seasonally (so it’s easy to find things!).  If you don’t follow me on Pinterest, YOU SHOULD!!  It’s my favorite form of social media and I reallllly love it this time of year because of boards like this…

…see?!  The BEST time to Pin is in the fall 🙂 .

Speaking of fall boards…did you see this post last week…

…where I shared our Back to School Traditions?  If you missed, see it HERE.  I shared our traditions, but then so many of you chimed in and shared yours as well!  I got so many good ideas off of this post!  When you read it, make sure you check the comment section.

Look at my new bracelet, friends…

…isn’t is perfect?!  I saw it online at Stella & Dot and loved it because it was possible to get so much script on there (typically you’re limited when engraving).  It was really easy to order and then arrived about five days later.  I’m obsessed!!  If you have questions, my Stella & Dot rep can answer them for you.  I know many of you have worked with her before!  These would make excellent Christmas gifts too!  I’ve been wearing mine every day.

I saw my friend Jo the other day and she told me I needed to buy the pumpkin face mask by Peter Thomas Roth.  Kensington was with me and she was all “oh, she’ll buy anything pumpkin” and you know what?  She was right!  K and I went to Sephora to check it out and they had me at the smell…

…it smells like pumpkin pie.  I really do like it!  It’s kind of grainy when you apply it and the directions say only to leave it on 3 to 7 minutes, so it’s a quick mask.  The next morning, Kensington told me my skin looked good (she’s such a sweet girl!  Ha!).  I’ve been using it twice a week and it’s putting me in the fall mood while exfoliating me at the same time.  Also, I took this pic and then thought “they’re going to want to see my pajamas” so…

…they are so soft!!!  I bought the ones with owls on them, but they come in several different patterns/colors.  And you know that my slippers are my favorite thing EVER.

I’m working through a new Bible study…and it’s fantastic!  In my opinion, Beth Moore is the master writer of all Bible studies because they never disappoint me…so I was not surprised when I opened this one and immediately fell in love.  I went ahead and rented the videos that go along with it (there are directions inside on how to rent them), and I really do think you need to watch the videos and go through the workbook (instead of just doing one or the other).  I will say this…I think the videos are perfect for everyone (believers, unbelievers, new believers…everyone), but the workbook is intense.  I don’t want to scare you off by saying that…but I want to be honest.  I’ve been studying the Bible for 20 years…and am having to stop and really focus/look up words/ re-read sections/etc because it’s heavy in theology.   When Andrew got home from NYC, I had a lot to share already about how this study has truly impacted me and is changing me.  I can’t imagine anyone doing it and not being changed.

Before we wrap up summer, a few of my favorite dresses are still in stock.  An easy to throw on dress is always a favorite around here…

You can’t go wrong with a LBD.  This one also comes in red too.  And if you’re in to subtle earrings like mine, you can find them here 😉 .

I love me some stripes!  This dress and that clutch are one of my faves this week!

And rounding out my favorites this week…

18 Back To School Breakfast Bites

…my 18 Back to School Breakfast Bites!!  Easy recipes that will start your mornings off right!  See all of my yummy bites HERE.

I am so excited about QVC!!! And about Simmers!! That book is going to make me feel like a totally with-it mama this fall, I just know it. 😉 Can’t wait! And by the way, your Pinterest really is so so good. I was just on it yesterday thinking how organized it all is and how all over the place mine has gotten! I really need to tidy mine up! Happy Friday!

I assume you will be in West Chester then for QVC! If you have time walk through downtown West Chester (market street and Gay streets). Green street consignments is awesome. The Social, roots cafe ( pricy but great), Teca lemoncello (pricy) and Kildare’s are great eating spots. Gemellis gelato is also supposed to be great. We have a lot of Starbucks however if you have never had Wawa coffee, try it. Starbucks is not my thing, will go for a Wawa coffee any time. We love our town, it is worth some time to walk around.

    • Mindy Tierney August 18, 2017 at 11:03 am

Yes, Wawa also! My husband prefers WaWa coffee over Stabucks! I suggested below to go to Milky Way Farms – best ice cream ever. I am in Exton…..

  • Crissy talley August 18, 2017 at 5:20 am

I am wrapping up Entrusted in a couple of week and it is wonderful! You will be deeply moved! Video four knocked me to my knees! Blessings

  • Sarah Shaneyfelt August 18, 2017 at 5:40 am

I love those pjs!!! And I cannot wait for fall either–bring on those fall temps, too!

  • Elspeth Mizner August 18, 2017 at 5:44 am

Love the bracelet!! What does the script say? Enjoy the last few days of summer and good luck on QVC!!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:26 am

All four of my kids’ names!

  • Kristen Thompson August 18, 2017 at 5:47 am

Oh my gosh I am totally fanning out! I live five minutes from the qvc studio in west Chester! 😊Good luck!!

  • Diana Austin August 18, 2017 at 5:53 am

Love that mask! I have a pack of them and that one is my favourite 🙂 Just a cautionary note, because I remember it not being easily visible. It had a warning about sun exposure and I think you guys still have nice weather –> Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.

  • The Nelson Nook August 18, 2017 at 6:24 am

I love all thinks pumpkin too and that mask would be perfect. I can’t wait to see you on QVC, wow this is so exciting. I have yet to purchase your cookbooks but if they come in a bundle this might be my chance to get some for Christmas Gifts to give family and friends.

  • Megan August 18, 2017 at 6:30 am

Congrats on the QVC gig! I agree, if Beth Moore wrote it, it’s sure to be a good study.

  • Cori August 18, 2017 at 6:43 am

Cute Jammies! Did you do an XS or a S? Not sure how they ran or if they would shrink if you wash/dry! Thanks!!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:25 am

xsmall and I washed and dried them several times and they’re still great!

  • Sarah August 18, 2017 at 6:51 am

Ooo that mask looks fun!! I’ve already been burning pumpkin candles and making pumpkin treats LOL. Never too early for pumpkin!!

That bible study looks great. I’ve been wanting to start one once the kids start up school. On a semi-separate note, I love that you truly find time to do things you want to do and love (bible studies, read tons of books, blog, etc). Do you really limit “goof off” time? I definitely know I could be more productive during the day and am thinking of blocking out specific times to do certain tasks. Let me know your thoughts on time scheduling!! You may even have a post on it haha which I’ll search 🙂 Thanks!!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:24 am

Ha! I probably consider reading my goof off time 🙂 .

  • Stephanie August 18, 2017 at 7:03 am

If you’re staying in the West Chester area near QVC there are tons of excellent restaurants close by! Pietro’s Prime is an amazing steakhouse (ask for Michael) and Limoncello has killer Italian food. Welcome to my home, happy to have you!

  • Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams August 18, 2017 at 7:34 am

I like PTR products so I have to try that mask! Happy Friday!

Hi Shay! I live in West Chester, PA. About 10 minutes away from QVC, is our version of a town square. We call it just “town” or the “borough”, and it’s my favorite place to be. Tons of cute shops and great restaurants that I think you would love! If you have time, you should definitely check it out!! Enjoy your trip 🙂

  • Sam August 18, 2017 at 7:43 am

Ah! You’ll be in my neck of the woods! Enjoy our town of West Chester & your QVC experience! 🙂 You will be AMAZING!

  • Laurel August 18, 2017 at 7:49 am

Just used my PTR pumpkin mask last night. 🙂

  • Angelique August 18, 2017 at 7:59 am

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:22 am

      I think so!!

  • sydnee August 18, 2017 at 8:16 am

Oooh, that pumpkin face mask sounds good! I’m so ready for pumpkin season. I’m sure I’ll regret saying that when winter hits! 😉

  • Jennie August 18, 2017 at 8:18 am

Wait – Simmers is still pre-order, right? So if we order off QVC on Sunday, will we receive it sooner than we would from Amazon!?!?!?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:22 am

      Yes! That’s correct!!

  • Krysta August 18, 2017 at 8:19 am

Peter Thomas Roth cloud cream moisturizer is wonderful too! Lightest moisturizer ever!

  • Rebecca Brittain August 18, 2017 at 8:19 am

I just finished Entrusted a few weeks ago when they offered an online bible study with the videos. It is SUPER intense, but I craved every moment and more. The videos were an exceptional treat in my opinion and the work book was very enlightening. I hope to do another one soon.

I love your Pinterest boards and I too believe that among anything I can do well, Pinning is my specialty. 😉

Your children are utmost darling and I love seeing the back to school traditions and first day of school pics.

  • Linda August 18, 2017 at 8:20 am

morning – I hate the revamped pinterest. what am I doing wrong? where is the like/love button?

  • Narci Dreffs August 18, 2017 at 8:26 am

What a fun list of favorites! That Bible Study is hard work, but it is so good! Enjoy! Can’t wait to watch you on QVC!

  • cassie {hi sugarplum} August 18, 2017 at 8:27 am

That’s so exciting about QVC!!! So happy for you friend, and can’t wait for the new cookbook!

  • Melanie S August 18, 2017 at 8:28 am

So so excited to see you on the Q. I love watching or keeping it on for background noise when I’m at home working on some stuff.

  • Amie August 18, 2017 at 8:28 am

I am in the middle of the Entrusted study and the only problem I have is finding the time to watch the videos since they are so long but I LOVE them!!! I wish there were more hours in the day because Beth Moore studies are the best!

  • Kate Hynson August 18, 2017 at 8:30 am

You should do a meet + greet sometime! I’m near Philly + would love that!!

  • KFed August 18, 2017 at 8:40 am

Hi Shay, strange question but what kind of bra can you wear with the LBD? I love the dress but hesitate ordering it because the back looks tricky with a strapless bra. Maybe this is a question for Sheaffer?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2017 at 8:45 am

      Just my basic strapless one!

  • Shawnna Griffin August 18, 2017 at 9:05 am

hey girl- great post! Y’all have an amazing weekend!

  • Amanda August 18, 2017 at 9:07 am

Looking forward to seeing you in QVC!
I love the brand of that pumpkin exfoliator. They have this cloud cream – ah-mazing! You should give it a shot.
I too am a sucker for anything pumpkin!

  • Stephie Chipp August 18, 2017 at 9:08 am

I alway love when you post skin care products. I’ve basically learned all things skin care from you! 😊 Before I started reading your blog I only put on moisturizer and that’s it. You’ve opened my eyes to better skin. I had no clue before! Ha! Congratulations on QVC! Happy Friday!

  • Heather August 18, 2017 at 9:10 am

Hi, random question. Do you know the name of your granite countertops?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:46 am

Black Pearl and Alaska White 🙂

  • Kelly August 18, 2017 at 9:13 am

You are the busiest mama I know! Congrats on QVC! I hope we get home from church in time to tune in. And I totally agree about the Beth Moore bible studies. She does bible studies like no one else. I’ve done the Entrusted study and now am eagerly awaiting her new study due next month. I may even get the videos this time;). Happy Friday, Shay!

  • Grace August 18, 2017 at 9:20 am

I just finished the Entrusted study with a group from my church and loved it! I learned so much about Timothy and Paul’s relationship and I found it very interesting to follow where they travelled. It is so deep and I love Beth Moore! She is a very gifted Bible teacher and I always enjoy how deeply they dive into the Bible.

  • Anna S August 18, 2017 at 9:43 am

I love your recipes! Next week is ‘Mix and Match Mama Week’ at our place: we are trying at least one of your recipes a day! 🙂 Happy Friday!

  • Francie August 18, 2017 at 10:05 am

Super excited for you, Shay! I love QVC. Congrats on your new Simmers book.

  • Amy August 18, 2017 at 10:15 am

I have always loved Beth Moore. This study I did at a Bible Group at my local church. For me, I got so much out of the study homework myself than I did the video. Maybe we just have done too much Beth lately and need something different. I have see Beth and she is wondeful. My group is looking for new studies so it would
Be great to hear your suggestions.

Regarding the pumpkin mask it smells divine. However, I have sensitive skin and some rosacea and this is no bueno. My enesthescian indicated it was too harsh for my skin. So I ended up passing onto a friend and they loved it. Just an FYI to your readers.

  • janet August 18, 2017 at 10:18 am

Excited to see you on QVC. I’m a devoted In The Kitchen With David watcher. Most of my kitchen utensils, including pots and pans are from QVC (or Pampered Chef). Not excited for fall to arrive because I love summer and loathe winter. But I do love fall colors and pumpkin everything. Oh and football.

  • Megan Butler August 18, 2017 at 10:21 am

Yay! For qvc!!! That is so exciting friend! And I just did that Beth Moore study this summer! Sooo good. I just love her studies! I mean intense but so good.

  • Kelsey Taylor August 18, 2017 at 10:27 am

I love QVC and can’t believe you get to be on In the kitchen with David! I love David and if he does a happy dance it means he loves what you’ve cooked 😍 Congratulations and I’ll be watching!

  • Heidi August 18, 2017 at 10:42 am

Congratulations on QVC!!! I need that pumpkin mask! I’m oh so patiently trying to hold back on getting out ALL my fall decor and pumpkins scented wallflower plug-ins another week! 🙂

  • stephanie August 18, 2017 at 10:51 am

Hi, how do you keep your Ugg Slippers clean? I have the same exact pair and they look so dirty !

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:44 am

I’m sure mine wouldn’t look that clean to you in person 😉 .

    • Hillary August 19, 2017 at 7:05 am

Mine are solo dirty looking. I tried cleaning them with the ugg solution but that only made them look worse! Next time I’m going foe the dark pair! So comfy tho

  • Mindy Tierney August 18, 2017 at 11:01 am

Your coming to my neck of the woods!!! I live about 15 minutes from QVC. I am in Exton, PA. How long are you here? You must stop at Milk Way Farms and have their homemade ice cream at their Creamery! Its absolutely the best ever. They are a working dairy farm and have the absolute best ice cream! They also have really cool names for their ice cream. My two favorites is Cinnamon Ribbon and Apple Pie, but they are all divine. Its about 15 minutes from QVC and about 4 minutes from my house. They are in Chester Springs! I would love to meet you there if possible 🙂

  • Detroit Duchess August 18, 2017 at 11:11 am

So funny you posted this because I was going to ask you about your recommendations for studying individual books of the bible. I’m doing the One Year Bible and find myself stopping all the time to look something up or get clarification and was thinking that I would love to go more in depth with some of these people. Do you have a good recommendation on Genesis?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:44 am

      The Patriarch’s by Beth Moore!

  • Jacqui August 18, 2017 at 11:24 am

Love seeing so many West Chester reader comments on here!! At the risk of sounding like a broken record, downtown is adorable and you would absolutely love it 🙂 The Classic Diner is a great breakfast/brunch option if you have morning time available! Enjoy QVC!!

  • Carole August 18, 2017 at 11:26 am

I went to high school with the founder of Spanx. Being on QVC in the early days helped her brand immensely. Wishing the same for you!! 🙂

  • Bethany August 18, 2017 at 11:35 am

    Love that bracelet!

  • Jan August 18, 2017 at 11:39 am

Congrats on being on QVC – how cool!

  • Jenna August 18, 2017 at 11:58 am

I loved Entrusted when I did it this spring!!

  • Rachel August 18, 2017 at 12:13 pm

Since we are talking pumpkins… Shay have you purchased the pumpkin spice candle from Williams Sonoma? It is AMAZING! If you haven’t already, you need to check it out. Have a wonderful weekend.

  • Erin August 18, 2017 at 12:27 pm

How exciting for you!! I am going to check into that mask. Do you have a favorite clay mask you recommend?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:43 am

  • Martha August 18, 2017 at 12:36 pm

Hi Shay, thanks for all the breakfast ideas! I love making breakfast casseroles that I can prepare the night before, I will definitely be trying the ones using croissants – never used those before! Have you ever tried making up small fajitas with cheese/bacon/ham etc, lining them up in a 9×13 and then pouring egg/milk mixture overtop topped with shredded cheese? Yum. On another note, I’m so impressed how you devote some of your precious time to bible study each day, I am really trying to improve on this. I got so much out of “What Does the Bible Really Teach?” it answered many questions for me. I downloaded my copy from here (and it was free!):
Back to school season always makes me a bit lonesome – my kids another year older, getting on that big yellow bus each day and driving away down the road, mornings getting chilly…Thank goodness there are booties and scarves to cheer me up!

  • Misty August 18, 2017 at 1:36 pm

How awesome that you will be on the Q!!! I’ll definitely watch. Kensie pj’s are my absolute favorite. So soft. They wash and dry beautifully and the ones that I have haven’t faded. This just nudged me to pick up a few new pairs.

  • Courtney England August 18, 2017 at 1:48 pm

I’m in Philly!!! Love your blog 🙂 I’m heading to the Outer Banks on Sunday but if you need anything, let me know!! Xoxo

  • Angela Ellingson August 18, 2017 at 1:50 pm

I have never watched QVC in my life, but I checked and we do get that channel! DVR set!! Have fun!

  • Vanessa Roberts August 18, 2017 at 2:20 pm

LOVE that bracelet! And I can’t wait to watch you on QVC 🙂

I have been reading my One year bible, but I would love to do a bible study as well. Do you have any recs for beginners?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:42 am

I would say any of the other Beth Moore studies besides Daniel :).

  • Amy Dugan August 18, 2017 at 4:43 pm

I am finishing up Entrusted this week with a group of women from my church and it’s so good! It’s definitely the hardest (in a good way!) study I’ve ever done but I’ve learned so much! It was my first Beth Moore study and I am already trying to decide which one to do next! Any similar ones you recommend??

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:42 am

My very favorite is her Patriarch’s study. I’ve done it three times!

  • Barbara Parnell August 18, 2017 at 5:19 pm

ahhh, a little In the Kitchen with David this Sunday! Congrats..hope it goes well. I always watch his show,so I will tune in for sure. I too, love Pinterest in the fall, but I think I am having a problem since they changed repin to whatever it is now. I keep getting people repinning only 2 of my pins ,which are St. Patrick’s Day cookies, and I have so many pins on there. What could the problem be? I’m trying to figure out if people can actually see my pins. If any of you ladies want to help a girl out and check I’d appreciate it. @parnellspantry . Just let me know if you can see all my boards!! Very frustrating!!
Wishing your kiddos lots of luck as the embark on a new school year!

  • Mandii August 18, 2017 at 8:07 pm

QVC is a FAVORITE of mine, so I am so excited to watch you on there!

  • Nicole August 18, 2017 at 8:52 pm

I know you love a good routine, so how do you keep on top of everything when you travel so much? I feel so out of whack! Wondering what your secret is. 😉

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:41 am

I feel out of whack right this minute :).

  • Erin Port August 18, 2017 at 9:41 pm

The more I dig into the new testament the more I feel like I can only read a verse at a time as I try to wade through the meaning and the context. xoxo ERIN

PS you are going to rock it at QVC and #2 retailer, I had no idea!

  • Cathy Carter August 18, 2017 at 9:42 pm

What color are your ugg slippers?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:40 am

      A purple/pink color!

      • Cathy Carter August 19, 2017 at 9:06 am

Do you think it’s cactus flower? Thanks!

  • Michele McQuade August 19, 2017 at 5:26 am

    Hi Shay
So exciting about QVC!! Welcome to Philly. What color nail polish are you wearing? I love it! It pops!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 19, 2017 at 5:40 am

      OPI’s Alpine Snow!!

  • Whitney Flint August 20, 2017 at 4:29 pm

Beth Moore’s Revelation study changed me and my perspective of God’s bigness forever. It’s much less intense than her other studies. It’s more of a video study with only one “homework” assignment with each video. It’s perfect to do with a small group or Sunday school class.
