Description
You know what your summer needs? One of my SWEET TEA BARS! This recipe is an oldie but a goodie that my girls have rediscovered. A little bit of sweet tea takes this easy bar from yum to YUMMY!
Ingredients
-
1 box of white cake mix
-
1/2 cup vegetable oil
-
2 eggs
-
the zest and juice of one lemon (about 2 tablespoons juice & 2 tablespoons zest)
-
1/2 cup of butter, softened
-
3 cups powdered sugar
-
about 2 tablespoons or so of sweet tea
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
Grease (I use Pam) a 9×13 baking dish. Set aside.
-
In a large mixing bowl combine cake mix, vegetable oil and eggs with an electric mixer. Beat in lemon zest and lemon juice. Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake about 14 minutes.
-
Remove from oven and allow to cool completely on the counter before frosting.
-
To make the frosting, beat the butter, powdered sugar and sweet tea with an electric mixer. Add more powdered sugar if the frosting is too thin and more tea if it’s too thick. Frost the cooled bars.
-
Store in the fridge when not enjoying.
Notes
If you don’t have sweet tea on hand, you can buy an individual bottle of it.
