Description

The next time you see pretzel buns at your market, grab some, fire up the grill, add on a few of your favorite German toppings and enjoy a delicious burger for dinner.  This burger is a super flavorful wink and nod to my favorite fare.  Enjoy!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • about 2 tablespoons of your favorite steak seasoning
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • a drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • salt and pepper
  • 4 eggs
  • spicy mustard
  • your favorite sauerkraut (I love Trader Joe’s)
  • 4 pretzel burger buns

Instructions

  1. Preheat your outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, Worcestershire sauce and steak seasoning together.
  3. Divide this mixture into four sections and make four patties (make sure to press down each patty a little in the center to avoid the “burger bulge” when they grill).
  4. Add your burger patties to the grill and begin grilling (we do about 6 minutes or so each side).
  5. Meanwhile, sauté your chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat in a drizzle of EVOO.  Stir occasionally and sauté until soft and caramelized.  Add in a pinch of both salt and pepper.
  6. In another skillet, over medium heat, it’s time to fry up your eggs.  Crack each egg in your skillet, add a bit of salt and pepper and flip when one side is set.  Remove from heat after they’re cooked to your liking.
  7. Next, it’s time to assemble! Pretzel bun plus your burger patty, some spicy mustard, one fried egg, some sauerkraut, and a bit of sautéed onion.

Notes

If you use a gf bun, this burger is gluten-free.
