Mimi’s Eggnog

  • Author: Mimi
  • Yield: about 2 pitchers of eggnog 1x

Description

My friends Lauren and Courtney shared their Mimi’s delicious eggnog recipe with me, and there’s no looking back.  It’s oh so rich and delicious for the Christmas season.  I typically make half of this recipe for one pitcher of eggnog, but I am sharing the FULL recipe below.  Just know, it’s simple to cut in half too.  Enjoy! xx

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 eggs, separated
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 quart bourbon
  • 1 pint brandy
  • 1 quart heavy cream
  • 2 quarts milk
  • 1 quart vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick. Add the bourbon and brandy and stir thoroughly. The liquor “cooks” the eggs.
  2. Next add the cream and milk and continue whipping. Break up the ice cream and add to the mix.
  3. After that, beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in. Refrigerate if possible for 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg.

Notes

I typically make half of this recipe for one pitcher of eggnog, but I am sharing the FULL recipe here.  Just know, it’s simple to cut in half too. When I have time, I like to “rim” my glasses.  I pour a little maple syrup on one plate and then sprinkle cinnamon on a second plate.  I dip the glass in syrup followed by the cinnamon and then pour the eggnog inside.  You can garnish with a cinnamon stick too.
