You guys, I am so excited because today’s Christmas recipe is extra, extra special and comes with a story.
I am so blessed to live on the same street as two sisters…
…and they have so graciously taken me in as the “third” bonus sister. I adore both of these ladies and love doing life with them. It’s so cool because one of them has a daughter who cheers with Kensington at Boyd and the other has a son who plays football at Lovejoy with Smith. So needless to say, I do L-I-F-E with these girls.
Last year, right before Christmas, I shared with Lauren that I needed a fabulous eggnog recipe, and she immediately gave me…
…their MIMI’S EGGNOG recipe 🙂 .
I made it, we loved it, and this year, I’ve already made it again.
Yesterday, Lauren sent me…
…a beautiful photo of their Mimi enjoying this very eggnog recipe, and she said I could share the recipe and photo with you. I love every single thing about this picture.
This holiday season, if you and yours need a delicious recipe for classic eggnog, I hope you use Mimi’s!
Enjoy! xx
PrintMimi’s Eggnog
- Yield: about 2 pitchers of eggnog 1x
Description
My friends Lauren and Courtney shared their Mimi’s delicious eggnog recipe with me, and there’s no looking back. It’s oh so rich and delicious for the Christmas season. I typically make half of this recipe for one pitcher of eggnog, but I am sharing the FULL recipe below. Just know, it’s simple to cut in half too. Enjoy! xx
Ingredients
- 24 eggs, separated
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 quart bourbon
- 1 pint brandy
- 1 quart heavy cream
- 2 quarts milk
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
Instructions
- Beat the egg yolks and sugar until thick. Add the bourbon and brandy and stir thoroughly. The liquor “cooks” the eggs.
- Next add the cream and milk and continue whipping. Break up the ice cream and add to the mix.
- After that, beat the egg whites until stiff and fold in. Refrigerate if possible for 30 minutes before serving. Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg.
Notes
I typically make half of this recipe for one pitcher of eggnog, but I am sharing the FULL recipe here. Just know, it’s simple to cut in half too. When I have time, I like to “rim” my glasses. I pour a little maple syrup on one plate and then sprinkle cinnamon on a second plate. I dip the glass in syrup followed by the cinnamon and then pour the eggnog inside. You can garnish with a cinnamon stick too.

I’m not a drinker, but I LOVE eggnog. Is it possible to make this alcohol free?
Mix and Match Mama says
Great question! I would find an alternative recipe as you need the liquor in this particular one to “cook” your eggs.

Glad to hear you made friends in your neighborhood. I remember a time when you didn’t. I love my neighbors and can’t imagine doing life without them!!

It has become SUCH A BLESSING!!

How long does the egg nog “keep?” It sounds absolutely delicious!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say just the day. If/when it starts to settle a bit, I just stir it throughout the day/evening.

The blessing is all mine. xx
Sarah Nienhuis says
Could you make this in a blender? (Aside from folding in the egg whites? )
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t made it that way, and I don’t want to lead you down the wrong path (as these ingredients are expensive), so if you try this, let me know what happens.
Courtney says
Yay for Mimi’s eggnog and for your friendship!❤️ We love our bonus sister!!!❤️🎄
