One of my favorite gifts to give are cookie or cake mixes in a jar. This particular mix I’ve given many, many times before. It comes from a Gooseberry Patch Christmas cookbook (you know how I love those cookbooks!). The gifts are darling and the cookies delicious. I usually like to layer the ingredients in little jars that can be reused later for storing the cookies (as opposed to canning jars). If you need a special, last minute gift, I highly recommend these.
The baking instructions tied to the jar.
Here’s the recipe (followed by the instructions you’ll include with the gift)…
1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup quick cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
/12 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
Layer all ingredients in order, in a one-quart (or larger if you’re using my cookie jar idea) wide-mouth jar; pack down tightly after each addition. Secure lid and tie on baking instructions.
Baking instructions to attach to your jar:
Cream together 1/2 cup softened butter, one egg and one teaspoon vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Add jar contents; mix until well blended. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges turn golden. Cool on wire racks. Makes about 3 dozen.

Where did you get your cute cookie jars? I am going to give cookie mix or soup mix to my neighbors but was going to use canning jars until I saw your cute idea!

This may be a stupid question but what size jar did you use?
Thanks!
