You guys, it’s a FUN day in blog world because I’m covering two of my very favorite topics…
BOOKS + TRAVEL
Not only do I have this little look at our weekend on Nantucket, but I also have my APRIL BOOK REVIEW today too. This month, I read six REALLY good books, so make sure you hop over HERE to check that post out too.
Okay, today’s Travel Tuesday is a little look at our weekend on Nantucket enjoying the Daffodil Festival.
I’m not going to lie, this weekend has turned into one of my very favorites of the year. We just really, really always have a great time.
Andrew had driven the car up to Nantucket earlier that week, so he was already on island. I took the four kiddos plus one dog, and we left Friday morning and arrived around 3:30 that afternoon. Andrew picked us up from the airport, and we were all a ball of energy and excitement. The weather was gorgeous, and when we got home, everyone was anxious to put their stuff down and go do their thing. With the kids busy and excited, Andrew and I decided to head over to…
…Cisco Brewery to enjoy the live music and festive atmosphere (and some bacon wrapped scallops from The Lobster Trap food truck). It was extra lively thanks to the good weather.
A little later, we headed back to freshen up before dinner…
…how cute is MY DRESS?! It’s on major sale right now too.
It was a beautiful night, so Andrew and I went into town a little early…
…I love when it’s kind of sleepy and calm like this.
I grabbed a seat on the patio at Sister Ship while Andrew went to get us a drink. He came out to find me and said, “You’ll never guess who stopped me and started talking to me inside the restaurant?”. As soon as he told me, I got OH SO VERY EXCITED…
…because it was Red Sox pitching royalty Derek Lowe! Just about the time Andrew finished telling me, Derek Lowe and his wife came out to sit with us. They COULD NOT have been more lovely. We chatted with them for about 30 minutes and truly, they were oh so sweet. Just Andrew and a bunch of Lowes on a Friday night on Nantucket 😉 .
We left and drove over to meet the kids…
…at Sea Grille for dinner. Dinner here is always a family tradition.
The next morning…
…I got up and dressed for the gym (my NIKES ARE HERE) for leg day (my LEG WORKOUT IS HERE). After that, I came home, showered, got kiddos up and fed and off we went…
…to Sconset (the far eastern side of the island) for the Daffodil car parade and picnic…
…everyone wears yellow 😉 .
It was cold, and it was raining and…
…by the looks of things, the weather was only going to get worse and the crowds were WAY DOWN, so we stayed a bit and decided to head back into town instead for lunch…
…it poured outside while we enjoyed our delicious lunch at Slip 14 inside.
After lunch, we walked in the rain…
…I love following behind my peeps 🙂 .
First stop…
…The Juice Bar. It had just re-opened the day before for the weekend, and their ice cream special that day was banana ice cream with marshmallow peeps and Nilla wafers. Um, yes please!
After ice cream, we went into Nantucket Bookworks for some books and then decided…
…to go home and get cozy for a bit while it rained. You guys, I even took a little nap on the couch which you know is something I don’t ever do. It was a great rainy Saturday.
Around 4:30, Andrew, Smith and I decided to go out in the rain…
…to listen to music (and they ate more bacon wrapped scallops) at The Brewery because…it was especially festive on a rainy Daffy.
We stayed a bit and then went home to freshen up, grab the girls…
…and stop by The Nantucket Hotel and Resort to say hi and see friends before dinner. Guess who I walked right into when I went into the hotel?! None other than Mark and Gwenn Snider. I know, I know, I know, but it just blows my mind that he’s like Houdini. He is ALWAYS everywhere. I shared this just April 3rd when I talked about walking up to the ferry heading to Lovango, and Mark was standing there getting on our ferry too…and I’m going to share it again:
Last year (in 2024), I wrote this about Mark on my post:
I say all of that to say, not only is he super friendly and humble, but he must clone himself because he is ALWAYS where we happen to be. We walked into Winnetu one day and Mark was there behind the desk working. I have been inside The Nantucket Hotel a gazillion times and…Mark is always there. When we pulled up here on his private island to see Lovango, his newest resort, guess who met us at the boat? Mark!
And once again…I walked into The Nantucket Hotel on Saturday night, and he’s right there. One of these days, I’m going to find out that he is part of an identical triplet set 😉 .
Last night on Nantucket…
…and we enjoyed dinner at Brant Point Grill.
And that, my friends, was our Daffy weekend. We are oh so super excited to be back this summer!
Even on a rainy Daffodil weekend, I was blessed to meet and hug several of YOU which always blesses my heart more than you know. Truly, it’s always a joy. I even got to fly home with Karen (hi Karen!), and truly, it makes this world (and the internet) seem so small.
Now, don’t forget this too before the month ends…Between now and April 30th, if you book a Walt Disney World vacation with our agency, you will receive a $50 Disney Gift Card as a thank you from us to be used on your vacation. Simply fill out this quick INQUIRY HERE for more info. You can book a trip any time this year or through October 31st of 2026.
Don’t forget to pop over and check out the APRIL BOOK REVIEW today too. Spoiler alert: one of the books I read this month was an adorable chick lit set on Nantucket 😉 .
Happy Tuesday, friends! I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

This post makes me so happy! You live life so well! This is so random, but I’m curious – did you order a cocktail with lunch? Do you usually enjoy one with your meals? You just balance enjoying life so well and I love learning from you! Also! Have you been running at all? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I just ran this morning! I had limited time before taking Smith to school, so I went for a run. I don’t normally have a drink with every meal, but I did have a glass of rose on Saturday with my lunch at Slip 14. I am always so grateful for YOU and your contributions here. Truly, you’re one of my faves, Nicole. xx

You have favorite readers, and it’s not me?! 🥺
Mix and Match Mama says
Thankfully I have so so many 🙂 .

Total bummer the weather didn’t cooperate this weekend, but an afternoon nap is perfection, and all of the food looked amazing!

Ma’am…. MA’AM….. THOSE LEGS! That dress was made for you to show those legs off! LOL
I’ve been out of blog world for awhile &I’m still trying to gasp for air that your LITTLE BOY is now so much taller than you – What the WHAT?
Mix and Match Mama says
SO MUCH TALLER THAN ME! How did that happen?!
Kristen says
Wait, back up! Red sox girlie here.. How did Derek stop Andrew and talk to him, did he know him ? I need more context..lol!
Mix and Match Mama says
Andrew was getting our drinks and Derek stopped him and asked if it was always this crowded/is this “the place” to be (it was only his second time on Nantucket) and then asked him if he had played sports and they started talking. Truly, the nicest guy.
Kristen says
Oh how cool.. He is the nicest guy! My brother in law knows him 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
The NICEST!!
Kristen says
Wait! Please tell me that Andrew told him he was a yankee fan, LOL!
Mix and Match Mama says
And Derek Lowe responded and told him he was a Tigers fan 😉 .
Kay says
Andrew must not! have been wearing Yankees gear at that moment…hahahh!
Laci says
I will never get over Charlie!

Every Nantucket post makes me want to visit so badly. I’ll get there one day!
Laura Holmes says
Even with the rain, it looks like a wonderful weekend! We are headed to Nantucket this summer and I can’t wait!
Lindsey says
Do the kids all stay on their own when you and Andrew go off? The older kids watch the little girls or do you have a sitter or they’re fine on their own?
Mix and Match Mama says
I am about a month away from having three teenagers, so we have a lot of built in babysitters at our house which is a very fun stage 🙂 .
Nicole says
Hey Shay!! Back with another random question 😂😇 Can you share your current eating routine?! Time you open your window and close? Would love an update!! Thank you! 🩷
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I have an upcoming IF Part 3 post as well. I try not to be too rigid about it, but I typically give myself 16 hours of digestive rest (sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less depending on what I have going that day). I typically open it around noon and then am done by 7:45 after dinner. Today, I have an appointment that won’t be over until 12:30, so I will eat something a little later.
Nicole says
Perfect!! Can’t wait! And would love to hear what you typically eat as well!! Thanks!
K.K. says
WHAT a fun weekend!! And wish I was the Karen who got to travel last weekend and fly home chatting with you!! 🙂
This is definitely a spot I have to visit one day.
Alison says
I love posts about your little Nantucket life. Do you all plan to spend another summer together on Nantucket? Or will it just be periodic trips over the summer months?
Mix and Match Mama says
We plan to spend pretty much the entire summer up there 🙂 .
Linda says
Will you have to go back and forth to Dallas for the older kids sports or do you get to spend the entire summer on Nantucket?
Mix and Match Mama says
All of my kids’ sports wrap up at the end of the school year and then pick back up at the beginning of the school year 🙂 .
Keisha Dawson says
It looks like a fabulous weekend! One day I am going to make it up there, and I hope I run into you!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would LOVE that!!
Nan says
Is that a Pottery Barn throw on your lap? It looks so soft and cozy!
Mix and Match Mama says
Even better, it’s Cozy Carmel! She’s a mom I know that makes these AMAZING blankets! We love them! https://www.cozycarmel.com/blankets
Nan says
Thank you for the link. I’m going to check them out now.
Bre Reed says
I’ve seen you bring Charlie to Nantucket many times now? Do you generally only bring one of the dogs on a short trip? On a longer trip do you bring all of them? I’m considering a “vacation house” out of state and currently assessing what the plan would be with all the pets if we go back and forth.
Mix and Match Mama says
When we go to Nantucket and stay for an extended period of time, we bring all four dogs. Charlie is by far our most chill dog, so he travels more often.
Martha Marino says
I so look forward to your Nantucket posts and pics! Thank you so very much for sharing with us.
Kate says
Can you please link the shoes you wore with the dress?
Mix and Match Mama says
Those are oldies but goodies. Really oldies.
Molly says
Two questions!
Do you belong to gyms in two places?
Who stays with the other dogs?
We are considering a mountain home and these are the types of things I ponder 🙂 thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I’m able to freeze my memberships when I’m gone for extended periods of time, but yes, I do. The dogs get a variety of vacations too. Sometimes, they’re with a house sitter, other times, they’re at someone else’s house and sometimes, they’re boarded together in a place in McKinney. It all kind of depends. We love the app Rover! We recommend it to everyone!
Molly says
Also love rover! Thanks for the reply 🙂
Lyndsey says
Shay, I am still in the littles stage, so it’s crazy to think about being able to go off with hubby solo! Do the kids have friends there? What do they do when you two are out together? What a fun season!
Mix and Match Mama says
Enjoy the littles stage. Enjoy every minute of it 🙂 . They have friends, Smith has a job, there are certain activities they do (surf, art, tennis, going to the gym, etc). Teenagers like to sleep a lot too, so there’s that. They all love to bike and scooter around, Kensington never cooks more than when we’re there (she baked two different things just over Daffy weekend). It’s a big variety 🙂 .
Tami says
Where did you get your great yellow coat?
Mix and Match Mama says
I should have included the link! It was on my Amazon post the day before. It comes in so many great colors! Here it is: https://shopstyle.it/l/cpIfu
