How fun are these?!?! My kids and I had the very best time making little Halloween Rice Krispies Treats! I found this method off of Pinterest (of course!) and it was super simple!
And of course, you could leave the Jack-o-lantern details off and your little pumpkins would be perfect for Thanksgiving too!
Kensington was so excited to make these!
She colored them orange herself :).
Smith was just super excited to eat them!
He’s saying that YOU should make them too!
Proud of her little pumpkins 🙂
Such a fun way to spend a few minutes in the kitchen with my kiddos! Your family will love them too!
Shopping List
3 tablespoons butter
5 cups mini marshmallows
orange food coloring
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
mini Tootsie Rolls to use as the stems (about 12)
M&Ms and Candy Corn for the Jack-o-lantern face
Vanilla frosting for your “glue”
In a microwavable bowl, melt your butter (about 60 seconds or so). Once melted, add in your marshmallows and coat with melted butter. Microwave another minute and a half or so until marshmallows are melted. Remove from microwave and immediately add in your orange food coloring. Stir until incorporated Pour over cereal.
***Allow the mixture to cool a minute or two before you start trying to shape it into a ball. We learned that if it was too hot, it would not stick together. We also learned that rubbing butter on our hands made it so much easier to make the Krispies into balls!**
Once your mixture has cooled a bit, rub a little butter on both of your hands and roll the cereal into balls. Unroll a mini Tootsie Roll and bend it just a bit into a stem. Stick your stem on top of your pumpkin. Using your frosting as glue, add your eyes and nose to the front of each pumpkin.
Done!
I hope you have as much fun making these with your kiddos as I did with mine!

Have you tried the pumpkin spice marshmallows? These make DELICIOUS pumpkin spice rice cripsy treats. They are a favorite at my house! (I've only been able to find the pumpkin marshmallows at wal mart.)
