What’s Up Wednesday {10/28/15}


It’s Wednesday!
I don’t know what you’re doing today…but I’m spending the day at the pumpkin patch with a bunch of kindergartners :).  There’s this blue-eyed boy with dimples that I get to hang out with all day. #luckyme 
On the last Wednesday of every month,  Mel and Sheaffer and I do our monthly What’s Up Wednesday where we answer these questions…

1. What we’re eating this week…


Yesterday, I shared my Halloween Menu with you guys and so that’s what we’re eating this week!  I love, love, love Halloween night!  The friends, the family, the anticipation, the candy…it’s all so festive!

2. What I’m reminiscing About…

Ahhhh!  It was Halloween 2008 and I had a six week old baby girl!

Every Halloween, we go to our town’s Scare on the Square (pictured above in 2008), and I always think back to that first time when I took my sweet little baby girl.

3. What I’m loving…
On Monday, I did a “Monday Favorites” and I was lovin’ several things…

This scarf.
Which arrived in my mail on Monday afternoon…

And our new cuffs from All The Wire.

01.04.15 is special because that’s the date we met our Ashby.  And the date that these two girls became sisters…

4. What we’ve been up to…
We’ve been hanging out at home a lot lately…because of Ashby’s surgery, so that’s what we’ve been doing.  We’ve been watching a lot of kid friendly Halloween shows, doing puzzles, playing board games and baking…

…Ashby is a big fan of anything pumpkin.  That’s my girl!

5. What I’m dreading…
We go back next Wednesday for them to remove the dressings off of Ashby’s armpit and chest.  There is a lot of tape on her, so I’m kind of dreading that.  I’m sure they’re great at removing that stuff…but still, I bet it’s not going to be super fun.  The cast is supposed to stay on two more weeks.

6. What I’m working on…

What am I not working on is the question?!  🙂

Right now, my little travel agency is working on Walt Disney World and Disney Cruise Line trips for new customers and then other destinations (Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, etc) for existing customers.  We are accepting departure dates between January and August 2016.  If you’re interested in going, please email me at mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com.

9. What I’m listening to…

I pre-ordered Adele’s new album, and bought her first single Hello.

Um, hello?!

I love Adele.  That girl could sing the phone book and I’d listen.

10. What I’m wearing…
Plaid.

I’m wearing a lot of plaid.

It’s soft, cute, washes and drys well..

…I just can’t stop with the plaid :).  For a size reference, I bought this top in XS.

11. What I’m doing this weekend…

Halloween!!!!!

12. What I’m looking forward to next month…

…beginning everything Christmas with these two PLUS ONE!  Woohoo!  We celebrate Thanksgiving this year with Andrew’s family in Missouri, so we’ll decorate the house before we leave and that way when we get home, it’s all decked out and the festivities can begin!  I have a feeling that Ashby is going to love Christmas :).

    So thrilled for your 2 cookbooks!!

    About the Ashby's tape….they make an adhesive remover. It's liquid and 3M makes it. Ask for it if they don't use it some hospital departments don't know it exists. From one mom to another it makes a HUGE difference. For my child they soaked it in the stuff waited 10 minutes then started removing tape.

    Congratulations on such an amazing accomplishment as having TWO cookbooks published, I know your a sweet and modest person so you tucked them away into your post, but you should be shouting from the highest rooftop- not everyday you are able to do something so exciting!     Coconut oil might be something to consider for sweet Ashby if they do not offer up something when it's time to remove the dressings. Our son had a feeding (NG) tube – through the nose and adhered to the cheek to keep it in place – that we had to change weekly and replace if it was ever pulled out by his little hands. I quickly found that applying cocunt oil on top of the dressings, letting it sit and then using more to loosen the adhesive underneath the dressing (think applying to a q-tip and gently sliding back and forth along the underneath edges until it releases) really preserved the skin on those sweet cheeks I love to smother with kisses. 🙂 We also used coconut oil to heal the skin that would "break down" from exposure to the adhesives. Just a thought but hopefully they have something readily available and medical grade they can use!!!

    And congrats on the cookbooks! They look fab as I can only imagine the contents are as well!!!

    My daughter went through several months of physical therapy that required taping. We used Sensi-Care adhesive remover. I was sting-less and the tape came right off without any pulling. I wonder if this would be an option for Ashby next week?

    Hey mama! Lemon essential oil is amazing for removing adhesive easily. I know you've blogged about having oils from young living and someone above mentioned coconut oil. Add lemon oil to the coconut oil and the bandages should come off without a problem. Hope that helps sweet Ashby! Praying for your family 🙂
