Well…yesterday, was the first day of school.
It’s hard to believe those babies I used to have are now in first and second grade. What in the world? Friends, I’m going to blink and they’ll be in high school. #someoneholdme
Okay…here are some pics from our special day yesterday (and the moments leading up to our first day)…
Someone came home from church and laid out her outfits for the week. Kensington was just bursting with happiness to get back to school. She is so excited about this year!
We had our family dinner the night before and Smith set the table. I love his little lettering. That boy was pumped too!
Smith received this letter on Meet the Teacher night and we waited to open it until before bed. Andrew, Smith and I opened it, and then Smith tucked his confetti under his pillow. I love stuff like this. Smith thought this was so fun!
That next morning, everyone woke up bright and early, ate breakfast and got dressed. There was lots of enthusiasm which made things easier.
Please note that Smith wore the exact same outfit (down to the necklace) on the last day of school. He said he wanted his friends to see him again in the same clothes. Don’t ask me why? He has a closet full of new back to school clothes and he wore something from last year. Was he afraid they wouldn’t recognize him in new clothes? Your guess is as good as mine ;).
This girly girl was SO EXCITED! And just FYI: the number one question when I posted this on Instagram was “where are her shoes from?”. Ha! You can find them HERE. Lovie bought them for her :).
First day of school 2016!
(Ashby starts preschool in 2 weeks!)
About to head out…
…but first they indulged me in some more pictures.
Love these two so much!
Miss Ashby wanted a picture too.
On the first day, parents can walk their kids into the building…so off we went!
Go get ’em Kensington!
And then we walked Smith to his class and Ashby started getting really sentimental.
The first day drop off is hard friends. She did not want them to go to school.
Ashby and I dropped Andrew off back at home and then headed to our town square to have our annual first day of school breakfast with friends…
…love these ladies so much! It’s so nice to sit and talk and do mom-life with them!
After breakfast, Ashby and I went to the hospital to see my cousin who had just had a baby boy the night before and then on our way home…
…we declared it fall and stopped at Hobby Lobby. Give me all the pumpkin stuff.
The kids came home from school raving about their day. I know it won’t be a perfect year, but I’m very optimistic. We ate cookies and then I tackled all of that paperwork they send home on the first day. And for dinner, they picked my Roasted Garlic & Tomato Pasta for supper. One day down, many more to go.
Happy Tuesday!

Sweet sweet kids. Love that Ashby didn’t want to leave them. And Kensington is beautiful and Smith is so handsome and I just hope they have the best year!

The kids look great & I love that Smith wore the same outfit & that you let him. So sweet! You have such a big group of girlfriends what a blessing! As i have gotten older had kids and busier i have less & less friends just a couole of really good ones that understand when i dont get right back to them its not lack of love just lack of time in the day. We recently started at a new church tho that has a Womens bible study once a week that offers childcare & altho im nervous im making myself go cuz i need more women in my corner. ????

Kensington looks SO grown up! I think this year’s picture and last year’s picture might be the most drastically different yet!
And hooray for the Hobby Lobby fall section! I’ve already browsed ours a couple of times as well! I’m ready to decorate… only 8 days to go and it’s ON!
