I am about to blow your mind.
This recipe right here…this was the winner of my Seventh Annual Recipe Exchange (a highly competitive and fought after prize, might I add!). But that’s not the shocking part…the shocking part is that it only has THREE INGREDIENTS! That’s it! Three!!! Sheaffer brought this as her appetizer recipe and it was a HUGE hit. You MUST make this dip this holiday season. Your friends and family are going to LOVE it!
This recipe makes enough for one pie plate’s worth of dip (we had plenty and there were 10 of us!).
Shopping List
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
one container or jar of caramel (Sheaffer said she finds hers in a container next to the apples)
1 bag of Heath toffee bits (found right next to the chocolate chips)
sliced apples for dipping
Spread your softened cream cheese across a pie plate. Next, spoon over a layer of caramel. Finally, top with your heath toffee bits.
That’s it!
Serve with apple slices and I promise you…your family and friends will flip!
Congrats Sheaffer for winning this year’s best recipe. It was well deserved. xo

How do you keep the apples from turning brown when you put them out to serve? Also, think you’ll share the rest of your appetizer recipes from the party? Thanks!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I will share mine next week :).
Laura M says
After you cut them, put them in a plastic bag and add some lime or lemon juice to the bag and mix it around. This keeps them from turning brown!

I make this as well but even easier. Leave the cream cheese in block form and pour caramel and Heath over it arrange apples around. It sounds messy but it looks like a piece of art :). I also use salted caramel topping by Smuckers, it’s by the ice cream toppings.

I’ve never called apples and dessert gorgeous before but when she walked in with this-her dessert was gorgeous! And it’s so easy!! And it’s mostly fruit. 🙂

I have made this for years and one thing I have found that makes it even more amazing is adding roughly 3/4 box of powdered sugar to the cream cheese and mix really well before you spread it out. You should try it!!!
Stephanie McCain says
I make mine the same! The powdered sugar adds to it!

From henceforth I shall be referred to as Martha Stewart. 🙂 I had no idea that such a simple recipe would be SO DANG DELICIOUS! A huge shout out to my high school bestie Jill for passing the recipe along to me!!!!

Yes! My family makes this pretty much every time we get together (holidays, birthdays, etc.) and it is SO delicious! There is never anything left!

This sounds so good!!! I love caramel and apples, but the cream cheese and toffee bites much just take it over the top!

We make this for our Mississippi State tailgates but we call it Apple Crack Dip bc it is that addictive. Try mixing powdered sugar and a touch of vanilla with the cream cheese. We use apples, strawberries, Pretzyl’s and shameless fingers to finish it off. And to answe the above question…I just put all my cut up apples in a big ziplock and add some lemon juice and roll the bag in my hands. The apples stay their beautiful color for a couple days. 🙂

Always a hit at parties and you don’t feel gross eating it because it’s not too heavy! I agree with another commenter, mixing in powdered (or brown sugar!) really adds another layer of flavor and is an easy extra step!
Mix and Match Mama says
I felt delightful eating it! It was amazing!

Thank you so much for sharing this! I am going to a girls only dessert party on Sunday and I wanted to bring something different and not too heavy! This looks perfect! (sorry about the original post). I can’t wait to try this.

We make two of these at family parties. One like this. The other top with chocolate chips, for kids who have nut allergies. Both so good!

My friends and I have been making this recipe for years and it is SO GOOD.
BUT with one difference… we mix 1 jar of Marshmallow Fluff with the creamcheese. Everything else is the exact same. Honestly it is AMAZING! And when you eat it, I always eat 1 green and 1 red apple at the same time. You get the sweet and sour with the amazingness of the dip. It is BEYOND.
Ok…obviously I am very passionate about this dip LOL

Yum yum! this looks delicious!

I’ve never made this with just plain cream cheese! The recipe I have has a little brown sugar mixed into the cream cheese, but I imagine it is so yummy without it as well! This dip is seriously addicting!

What a fabulous idea! Thanks for sharing!

I make this recipe all the time – it’s one of my favourites and SO easy!

I make a version of this. My recipe calls for 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar (I hope I have the measurements correct). Also a little vanilla. This is what I use in place of the caramel. It is fabulous on apples and pretty much anything you want to dip in there!!! It’s a favorite at my house:)
Megan Butler says
Okay yummm!!!! And how easy!

I can’t wait to make this!!! TOTALLY right up my ally in baking… right, Shay?? 🙂

Quick question….how far in advance do you put this together? Does it need to chill in refrigerator for a few hours or serve immediately?? Help! Making it for this evening. Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Sheaffer made her’s that afternoon! So, no need to make it way in advance…but you totally could if you needed to.
Bethany Crisp says
This is my kind of recipe! Making this for sure! And such a pretty pic!!

I made this last night for our cookie exchange party. It was a huge hit!! By far the most eaten appetizer on the table. Thank you so much for sharing it!
Kerri says
We make this all the time too 🙂 we also add pretzels for dipping which is sooo good!
And this recipe is already so easy but to make it even easier… What we do is literally just take the block of cream cheese out, cut a few slices in it for the caramel to seep into, and dump the caramel and toffee on top
Lori Klein says
I made this for our neighborhood Christmas party last night. It was so easy and amazing! People devoured it! Love your and Schaeffer’s blogs. You both are so sweet, kind and generous!
April Oaks says
I bought the toffee and chocolate bits instead of just toffee by accident. Has anyone ever used them and do you think it would be just as good?
Mix and Match Mama says
That will work just fine!!
