You just can’t beat an old fashioned sloppy joe. My version simmers away all day in the slow cooker and then is ready and waiting on you come suppertime. Enjoy!
1 pound of ground beef
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
a nice pinch of both salt and pepper
1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste
1 (8 oz) can of tomato sauce
1 (14 oz) can of diced tomatoes
3 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon mustard
3 tablespoons brown sugar
4 burger buns
chopped green onions to garnish
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown your ground beef in a drizzle of olive oil. Once browned and crumbly, add in a liberal pinch of both salt and pepper before transferring to your slow cooker. Once the browned ground beef is in your slow cooker, add in your tomato paste, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and brown sugar. Stir and then cover with the lid and set to low for 6 to 8 hours or high for 3 hours.
When you’re ready to serve, add a generous scoop of sloppy joe mixture to your burger buns and garnish with a little chopped green onions.
Easy as that!! xo
