Friends…if you are looking for an appetizer to make this holiday season and you want it to be a little different, yet VERY good, THIS IS THE ONE!!
We could not stop eating these little Cranberry Jalapeno Bites. They’re a little sweet, a little spicy, a little creamy, a little crunchy and a whole lot of delicious. PLUS, we assembled them in about five minutes, so they were so simple to make. I am absolutely making this on Christmas Eve for my own family because we loved them that much. I’m telling you…they’re little bites of deliciousness. Enjoy!
This recipe makes 3 dozen.
Shopping List
3 (12-count each) boxes of mini Fillo shells (found in the freezer department) DO NOT HEAT
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
1/2 a cup of sugar
the juice of half a lime (about 2 tablespoons)
1 cup dried cranberries
1 jalapeno, chopped (remove seeds and ribs for less heat)
about 4 green onions, chopped
3 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
pinch of salt
Remove your fillo shells from the box and place in a 9×13 baking dish (just so you can easily transport and carry the bites). Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, beat your cream cheese and sugar together until creamy. Beat in your lime juice. Next, stir in your dried cranberries, chopped jalapeno, chopped green onions, chopped cilantro and salt. Take each fillo shell and add about a tablespoon of filling to each one. Once they’re all filled, place in the fridge to chill about one hour before serving (or keep them in there longer if you like). Serve and enjoy.
That’s it! The shells are already pre-baked, so you don’t need to heat them at all, just remove from freezer and start preparing. These little bites have loads of flavor, and they’re so simple to make!!!

I love the infusion of cranberries in this recipe. So perfect because I just bought a box of fresh cranberries the other day (had to snap them up because fresh berries aren’t always in stock here!) 🙂

I am looking for a recipe to bring to a friends holiday party on Friday night. Do you think these would transport during a 30 minute car ride or do they need to be served right away?? Thanks!!

I made these but added some shredded mozzarella cheese to this and used it as a dip in a bowl. Fantastic with crackers or tortilla chips! Thanks for the great recipe!

These are on my party list for Saturday! How far in advance can I make the filling and store in the fridge? Although, I doubt it would last for too long from hungry hubby and kids!
Mix and Match Mama says
I plan on making mine 48 hours in advance!

Hi Shay, are dried cranberries the ones that are sweetened?
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re like raisins, but cranberries. I buy them in the bulk foods aisle of my grocery store!

I made these for Christmas, and they were a big hit!! I actually heated them up at 350 F for about 10 minutes (just enough to get them warm), and they were great!

I made these for a “Framily” gathering on New Year’s Eve. They disappeared quickly! My boyfriend declared we had to make another batch the next day just for us. The store we stopped at didn’t carry the fillo shells so we used it as a dip with crackers and strips of toast. We will be bringing this dish to many more gatherings in the future… so yummy!
