Friday Favorites: MEGA EDITION!

It’s the last Friday of summer!!!!

Oh my word.  It just flew by.

We’re going to savor every minute between now and Monday morning.  I’m about to have three kiddos in elementary school and my mama heart is super conflicted about that, so I’m going to make the most of these next few days.  Right now though…I somehow ended up with a FANTASTIC list of FAVORITES!  I jot down my faves all week long on a sticky note and today’s note, was busting with fun things!!  As always, I’m linking up with my friends Erika, Narci and Andrea, so sit back back and enjoy!  It ended up being a MEGA EDITION of my FRIDAY FAVORITES!

I’ve been waiting months to show you guys this right here…

Oh my gosh!  If that doesn’t make you laugh, nothing will!  Want to know who that butler is in the video????  It’s TOM from…

Not only does our friend Austin have the most amazing wrinkle releaser on the planet, he’s also the founder of Vouch…this online dating app where your friends “vouch” for you.  Guys, Austin can do it all!

I had been asking Austin when I could share this Vouch video because it cracks me up and he said not only could I share it with you today, but I could also offer you the promo code for Tom & Sheri’s again.  Remember…

…first I let Smith wrinkle up a shirt and then we sprayed it with Tom & Sheri’s and about three minutes later…

…the wrinkles were gone.  We use this stuff every day now on all of our clothes and the travel size bottles have been on every.single.trip with us this summer.

So, if you’re single or know someone who is, go ahead and download the Vouch app today and then buy yourself some wrinkle releaser.  Make sure you use the promo code MIXANDMATCH because my readers get 10% off their order!

I don’t know about you…but I can’t wait to see what fun thing Austin will create next!

Speaking of promo codes…

Accessory Concierge reached out and told me I could let my readers buy their Sims Stone Necklaces for only $20 with promo code MIXANDMATCH as well.

Friends!  Twenty bucks!!

Not only do you need one, but you need to stock up on them for gifts this holiday season.  From your babysitter to your kid’s teacher to your mom, neighbor, bestie, sister, daughter and more…THESE MAKE THE BEST GIFTS!!

I was stoked when she said I could this promo code with my readers!!

Just can’t stop with the stone 🙂 .

I loved that they introduced black this time because that’s perfect heading into fall and winter.  Start your Christmas shopping NOW, friends!  Promo code MIXANDMATCH gets you this fab necklace for only $20!

And pssssst: for those of you who missed it, my favorite shorts EVER pictured above are HERE, the ones that aren’t distressed are HERE, that cute tank is HERE (it’s 33% off and comes in many colors!) and my sandals are HERE.

You ladies know how much I love my friend Melanie Shankle…well, look what she just published…

a devotional for girls!!

I was so excited when this arrived in my mailbox!  It’s perfect for Kensington because she can read the daily Bible verse, the little application that Melanie has written to go with it plus answer a few questions when she’s done.  It only takes her a few minutes every day and because the stories and application are geared towards young girls, she wants to read it.  It has captured her attention and I find it so sweet sitting on her bedside table with a marker next to it.  There are 100 devotionals in the book, and would make a great gift for the girl in your life.  If you’re not familiar with Melanie (a.k.a. Big Mama), you need to order this for your daughter and then start reading her books.  Start with Sparkly Green Earrings and work your way through.  She will make you laugh out loud (she’s hysterical!) and she can make you cry too.  She’s the kind of friend every girl needs.  You and your daughter will both be blessed by her books.

Speaking of Melanie, here’s one bonus thing to this “fave”.  Melanie was the one who introduced me to this…

Hummingbird Farms lavender bath goodies.  I had this set sitting out for my in-laws to use while they were staying with us, but I use it too!  It smells so nice!  Erika is obsessed with it too!  If lavender is your thing, click HERE stat 🙂 .

Friends!  I saw this on Wednesday night with a few girlfriends and it was SO CUTE!! I’ve read all three books (and loved them!), so I was nervous the movie might not live up…but it did!!  It was adorable! I kept thinking to myself that this is the kind of movie I can see myself watching/listening to while I work (you know how I love to do that).  It’s just so cute!  I haven’t liked a movie this much in a long time!  If you’re a reader, read the books.  This movie follows the first one (Crazy Rich Asians), but there are two more (China Rich Girlfriend and then Rich People Problems).

Oh friends, look…

I’m in Taste of Home!  I am so excited about this!!  My mom has been subscribing for years and years, so of course, I have been too.  My 91 year old grandmother called me on Tuesday to tell me how excited she was to flip the page in her magazine and see this!  Ha!  The fact that they asked me to guest post in their September/October issue is just icing on the cake.  I’m just happy about this one 🙂 .  (PS: Thank you to the sweet reader, Amy, who sent me this picture!  Our city is in the middle of a huge mail crisis and we’re not getting ours, soooo…as soon as it’s all cleared up, I can’t wait to get my copy too…and the rest of my mail…)

Okay, I posted this on Tuesday

carry on bag

…about what I pack in my carry on bag.  You can read all about it HERE, but that’s not the favorite.  The favorite is this…

my Kindle Paperwhite.  Now, that’s already been named a favorite, but after I posted on Tuesday, I had the same question many times, so I wanted to clear it up today.

The question was “I thought I needed WiFi to read my Kindle?” and the answer is NO!!!!

That’s the favorite part 🙂 .

You do not need WiFi to read your Kindle.  Now, unless you have the cellular option (which I don’t), you need WiFi to download new books, but once they’re on there, you do not need WiFi.  You can be on a boat in the middle of the ocean and your book will be right there with you.  If that has been a reason why you don’t have a Kindle, then there you go.  Happy reading!

I found me a cute top perfect for that fall transitional weather…

…look how cute my baby is!!  Oh my heart! I love that girl so much!!

I feel like this top has all the colors of fall but is light enough for August and September (and you could throw a little jacket over it for October).  Bonus…everything at Loft is 40% off today!!

My favorite jeans (that are like 5 years old) and booties with a peep toe are my go-to for transitional weather!

Wrapping up today?

Back To School Slow Cooker Suppers

…I’m re-posting one of my most POPULAR posts every year!  It’s my BACK TO SCHOOL SLOW COOKER SUPPERS!  Friends, you need to see this one!  I’ve updated it and now, there are even more easy and delicious recipes to make your school year a breeze!  Trust me, you need this post!!

Whew!  So many good things!!  Don’t forget the promo code for both the Sims Stone Necklace and Tom & Sheri’s is MIXANDMATCH!!  Plus, Loft is 40% off everything!  That’s a lot things on sale!!

Happy Friday!  I have to go enjoy my last weekend of summer! xo

  • Narci August 17, 2018 at 6:20 am

What a FUN list of favorites, and that movie was sooo cute wasn’t it??

  • Michelle Keller August 17, 2018 at 6:35 am

Hi Shay! I finally purchased a Kindle and love it! Ok, one more question about it…Is there a way to listen to the books on the Kindle (or app)? I see you can get the audio version on Amazon, but it looks like these versions are for Audible. I would love to be able to listen as I work out 😊.

    • Mix and Match Mama August 17, 2018 at 6:45 am

Let’s let another reader answer this one because I don’t know!! I bet someone out there does though!!

    • Amanda @ That Inspired Chick August 17, 2018 at 11:10 am

Hey Michelle! Wanted to see if I could help answer the Audible question. 🙂 I’m a huge Audible girl too. I’ve been getting books on Amazon through my Kindle Unlimited membership and listening to the audio versions on the app. I don’t think you can listen through the Kindle. (I have the same one Shay does.) But when you listen on the app, it’s so nice because the digital version keeps up with the audio version so you can switch back and forth to reading and listening so easily. Hope that helps! 🙂

      • Michelle Keller August 18, 2018 at 7:12 am

Thanks Amanda! Do you find that with the Kindle Unlimited membership you have access to all of the books you’re interested in?

    • Allison August 18, 2018 at 1:11 am

I have a Kindle Fire and the app on my phone and with most books you have the option to purchase the audio version as well. Sometimes it’s only $1.99 and with other books it can be $12.99, or anywhere in between. I hope you come back to read responses 🙂

      • Michelle Keller August 18, 2018 at 7:13 am

        Thanks Allison!

  • Sheaffer Sims August 17, 2018 at 6:58 am

  • Hillary August 17, 2018 at 7:19 am

Did you ever find a case for your kindle that you love? I just got a paper white based on your recommendation but haven’t found a case yet!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 17, 2018 at 7:36 am

I’m still using my regular one (from Amazon). I never found a waterproof one that I loved.

  • Susan Fasone August 17, 2018 at 8:49 am

Why Kindle over a mini Ipad?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 17, 2018 at 10:31 am

For me, I love that the only thing it does is provide something to read. I can’t get distracted with notifications from other apps and such.

  • Amanda Wilson August 17, 2018 at 8:52 am

  • Jenny F August 17, 2018 at 11:02 am

You should watch The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society on Netflix. HOWEVER, if you haven’t read the book yet, read it first! It is soooooo good. And I thought they did a fantastic job with the movie too.

  • Amanda @ That Inspired Chick August 17, 2018 at 11:13 am

The movie was SO CUTE!! I actually want to see it again. And read the other books. haha. Just downloaded the book you were talking about that night! I’m prepared to be scared! 😉

SO excited about that coupon code for the Sims necklace! I love the necklace but wasn’t willing to pay almost $50 for it between the full price + shipping. But I’ll def get one with the >50% discount!

Also, random comment, but I like how when you have affiliate links in your blog, they open in a separate window, rather than current window. It’s super user friendly.

  • Katie August 17, 2018 at 11:30 am

I saw you last night as I was flipping through my Taste of Home, I was like “oh heeeeeey Shay!”.

SO SO SO happy that you only have good things to say about Crazy Rich Asians, so excited to see the movie but I was nervous it wouldn’t live up to my expectations!

  • Katelyn August 17, 2018 at 11:39 am

I purchased the iron in a bottle and it’s awesome! I should not own an iron because I NEVER iron my clothes and if they’re wrinkled I just don’t wear them, haha. But not now-this is my iron now and more clothing options! And to note-their customer service is great! There was a mix up with the shipper and they were on top of it quickly to get it resolved! Thanks again for the recommendation!

  • Sara August 17, 2018 at 12:12 pm

Reading Crazy Rich Asians right now! I have the booties in taupe but I really love the gray too. I might need them 🙂

  • Hena Tayeb August 17, 2018 at 12:47 pm

Yay on the magazine mention!! How cool
I just saw Crazy Rich Asian last night.. so much fun! I didn’t even know about the books..

  • Chelsey C August 17, 2018 at 3:22 pm

Oh I’m so happy to hear that you loved Crazy Rich Asians! Going to see it with my mom this weekend and I was nervous I wasn’t going to love it as much as the books! Also, what necklace are you wearing in the pic with the Loft shirt? Is it personalized? It looks super cute!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2018 at 6:29 am

It’s from Stella & Dot! It says “love”. 🙂

  • Sandy Blitch August 17, 2018 at 4:12 pm

Tom and Sherri’s is hands down the best wrinkle spray product! It works REALLY well, and has a fresh scent too! I will be buying more soon! Thanks for the recommendation!

  • Terry August 17, 2018 at 10:59 pm

What color necklace are you wearing in the pictures, turquoise or green?

    • Mix and Match Mama August 18, 2018 at 6:28 am

  • Carol Stewart August 18, 2018 at 3:48 am

I would love to purchase a few of those gorgeous necklaces, but unfortunately they don’t deliver to Australia. Anyone know how I can get around this?
Thanks for your help. Thanks for showcasing such gorgeous products Shay. 😁

  • Nicole August 19, 2018 at 3:04 pm

This is random, but you posted on your IG story a picture of your basket of blankets…wondering where your table and basket are from??! So cute!!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 20, 2018 at 4:52 am

Basket from Pottery Barn and table from Restoration Hardware!

  • Lora LaRosa August 19, 2018 at 6:46 pm

I recall a while back you posted that you only buy your watch bands from Apple now because you bought a watch band off the internet and it broke. Mac World recommended ‘Maison + Cour’ for watch bands for Apple Watches. You get a package of 8 for $31.00. They look like Apple Watch bands except the pin to keep watch band in place is silver instead of gold. I have had no problems with them so far.

  • Christina August 21, 2018 at 2:37 pm

Shay, love your blog and following your family, but I don’t think I’ve ever commented. I have to now, though! I’m so excited that you loved Crazy Rich Asians. I’m going to see it tonight and I have to say I am SO excited. It’s so significant to me, as a 30 year old Asian American female to see people who look like me, play big roles on the big screen as “normal” people – not a dragon lady, sidekick, asexual man, nerd, shy wallflower, delivery man, nail lady…the list of stereotypes goes on. I’ve never grown up seeing people who look like me, regularly portrayed in American media. Honestly, just under the surface, I always wanted to be white and to just fit in better with all the kids I grew up with. I remember telling my mom as a kid that I couldn’t bring Asian food to school for lunch anymore because the other kids thought it was weird…and telling my dad when I was young, that I was NOT attracted to Asian men (there are so few Asian men that get to take strong, sexy roles on TV and in movies…and it’s not because they don’t exist!)…and I remember feeling proud when someone on my soccer team told me, “I always forget you’re Asian. You’re not REALLY Asian.” There are COUNTLESS moments throughout my life, where I was made to feel like I wished I wasn’t different, and just looked like all my friends; It wasn’t until going to college and taking some Asian Ethnic Studies classes, that I was able to come to terms with my identity of being an Asian American, and feel confident about both parts of my life.

Anyway, this post is WAY too long and you don’t need to publish it…but I just wanted to let you know that I was so excited to see that you watched and loved the movie, and it is so meaningful to Ashby and Madeley to be able to see people who look like them, portrayed regularly in AMERICAN movies as “normal” people, while acknowledging their uniqueness, and not simplifying their existence to a stereotypical character. While you and your family may do everything to affirm their identities and give them confidence, a lot of other people aren’t really there yet, but hopefully this is the start of real change!

    • Mix and Match Mama August 22, 2018 at 5:23 am

Did you read the books? They are WONDERFUL! The whole thing could make a really good TV series too. I loved every minute of the movie and hope you did too!!

      • Christina August 22, 2018 at 9:14 am

I haven’t! I definitely am going to and I also LOVED the movie and also see it as one of those movies you can casually watch over and over 🙂
