Happy Friday, friends!!!
Just a reminder, if you’re local, we would LOVE to see you at this next Saturday…
…the 2nd Annual Manda Strong Foundation 5K & Fun Run. Today is the last day to sign up and be guaranteed a super cute t-shirt. You can register HERE. I hope to meet several of you out there!!
Today’s post is all about our HALLOWEEN!
We had such a great night! It was raining hard all day long, and I was nervous we wouldn’t be able to go out in it…but it only barely sprinkled off and on while we were out to trick or treat, so that was a MAJOR blessing! Here’s a little look back…
On Halloween Eve, we carved some Jacks and listened to Thriller. It was such a fun night!
The next day, after school, we hurried home to get ready for HALLOWEEN FUN!
Morticia and Gomez Addams were ready for the fun!
So were Liv and Lloyd!
Of course, Anna and Elsa were ready to go too!
I think it’s soooooooooooo sweet that they picked these costumes! They’re going to be hard to beat 🙂 .
I love this crew so much! I tried really hard to stay present and in the moment because these Halloweens are precious to me. It won’t be long and they’ll all be too cool for this holiday.
Photo courtesy of Lloyd Christmas 😉 .
Everyone was so excited to see Lovie and Papa Jay arrive!! Sweet Isaiah was sick, so my brother and his family had to stay home. Boo. That baby boy is just too precious for words!
So happy to see Lovie!!
And Papa Jay too 🙂 .
We always eat an early dinner on Halloween night.
We had a jack-o-lantern pizza thanks to Papa Murphy’s and…
…I made Spooky Spaghetti around 4:00 and kept it warm in the slow cooker.
At 6:30, we left our house and went to meet up with friends to trick or treat!
Look who greeted us at the door! It was Olaf!!
Do you want to build a snowman?!
How darn cute are these three?!
Look! No rain!! It was a little chilly, but we were pumped to be dry!
Dumb and Dumber.
They stayed in character the WHOLE night!
Liv and Maddie were ready to go!!
The Addams Family! Hahahaha! We picked our costumes based on Tab’s bald head…in hindsight, Andrew should have been Lurch 🙂 .
One big happy framily!!
Rob Dreffs was LOVING his Halloween costume! Hahahahaha!
My dad said his costume was “a winner”.
Fourth grade has been AWESOME for Kensington! There are so many sweet girls in this grade. We had so much fun trick or treating with everyone!
Andrew Shull liked his costume too 😉 .
Hey Lloyd! Look at the camera!
And off we went! It was so much fun!
Nurse Narci and me 🙂 .
Lovie helped Anna out quite a bit 🙂 .
Morticia and Wednesday.
Every year, Andrew tells a spooky story. The kids always eat this up! It’s dark, but do you see him standing there with all the kids gathered around?! Ha!
Erika said her favorite part of Halloween was my wig. It would not stay out of my face. At one point, I had to spit out the Sour Patch Kids that were in my mouth because there was more hair in there than candy. Hahahaha! I was a big mess!
All the mamas!
Halloween success!!
I don’t have one single pic, but after we left our friends and drove home, the kids asked if they could get candy in our neighborhood too, so we walked a few streets in our neighborhood and then passed out candy to people who stopped by. We were on a Halloween high by the end of the night 🙂 .
Last thing for today…
…I’m sharing my first Thanksgiving recipe! Click HERE to see my Salted Caramel Pecan Pie!
I hope you all have the best weekend! I’ll see you back here on Monday! xo

How fun!!! When are you decorating for Christmas? Do you leave all your Fall/Halloween decor up until then? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I do! I’ll decorate mid-November. For now, we’re enjoying our pumpkins with carols 😉 .

Every time I saw you-you were flipping your hair, pulling some out of your mouth, or doing something to get it out of your face! Hahahaha! Looking at these pics, Morticia did such a great job of staying in character all night! Halloween 2018 was a great one!
Sheaffer says
Everybody looks soooooooooo AWESOME! What great memories for the kids!

Your families are so connected you need a celebrity combined name. How about Shulaughter or Sharika? ? Super fun and I wish I had a family that we could share life with!!
Elspeth Mizner says
Love the costumes!! So fun and creative! Have a great trip to NYC
K.Ann says
I wish Sean & Catherine could have been there in their old Addams family costumes they wore a couple years ago! That would have been a great photo op.
Such fun costumes and the kids looked like they had a great time.
Happy Holidays!
Mix and Match Mama says
Me too! Sweet Isaiah! I hate that he was sick on his first Halloween.
amanda says
we had a great Halloween too!!!
Connie says
Great costumes!! Lloyd! Hilarious! My daughter went as Darla from Finding Nemo at her school Orchestra and school Halloween dance party. Then a purple butterfly for Halloween. So fun! Great memories indeed! ?
Kelly Sites says
I am so sad Andrew wasn’t Lurch..hahaha but where in the world did you get his costume- and one that fit his tall body? I’m pretty sure they don’t make suits like that for tall dudes. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
He ordered it online. I have no idea what he googled to get it…but it was hysterical!
Brooke Richardson says
It was so much fun!!!! But now all I can think about is that salted caramel pecan pie!!
Amanda Wilson says

The Dumb & Dumber… haha… that’s hilarious.
Learch would have been perfect 🙂 But you totally needed your Gomez 🙂
Sara M Alexander says
You squeezed a lot of fun in! Our trick or treat hours are 6-8. What are yours?
Mix and Match Mama says
We did it from 6:30 to 8:30ish!
Laura says
I loved reading that Kensington is having a great year in 4th grade. Someone once told me that 3rd and 7th are usually the tough years… (My own son struggled in 3rd last year, too! This year has been AMAZING for him, too!) 🙂
Heather Swenson says
How fun! I love Halloween as much or more than my kids do! On a side note, what brand slow cooker do you have? I’ve been through several in the past few years. Just cheapies from WalMart or Target and they burn so HOT even on warm and low. With four boys, who are in activities and like to eat, I’m ready invest in a good one we can leave on all day and not worry about it burning.
Mix and Match Mama says
I have two and use them both! I love, love, love my All Clad from Williams Sonoma, but then I still use the one I got from Target 15 years ago!!
Gracie Nichols says
Love Lovie’s red boots! What brand are they?
Mix and Match Mama says
Aren’t they cute? She bought them in Belgium. Boo.
Lauren says
You and Andrew are pure goals!! Year 1 of marriage down and you’re my inspiration lol ?
Erin Port says
Such a fun night. I agree the older my kids get the more I just try to squeeze every moment a little tighter.
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says

Love these pics! You all looked so great and I enjoyed seeing some of the Halloween décor around the neighborhood;). Have a great weekend, Shay!
Angela Ellingson says
How fun!!! I love that you coordinated costumes with your two families. 🙂
Ralinn says
What FUN!! It looks like you all had a great Halloween. I love all of the costumes. Happy November.
Jen says
Just curious, when you leave your house to trick or treat in other neighborhoods, do you leave candy outside at your house or turn the lights off til you get home? I never know how to solve that dilemma! One year I left the candy out and it was gone within 10 minutes!
Mix and Match Mama says
We like to trick or treat with friends. Our neighborhood is great, but we just have always done it with friends (and that neighborhood is filled with other kids that go to my kids’ school), but we did it at home too, so it was the best of both worlds. We left candy out and there was a little left 😉 .
Brittany says
When your crew went to see Frozen on Broadway, where were your seats? Was it good enough for kids to see?! Taking our 9 year old soon and trying to decide what seats to get! Thanks!!! Love everything about your blog!
Mix and Match Mama says
We had balcony seats! We had the best time! Enjoy!
Breanne Crawford says
I’m at Disney world today and met a girl that had a name tag that said McKinney, Tx. I immediately said “I know that place.” I’ve never actually been to Mckinny but I feel like I know it from all of your posts. Her name was Ashley and she was super sweet.
Mix and Match Mama says
Ahhhhh! I love this so much!!! Have fun at WDW!!
Kathy Roe says
Too cute! I look forward to this post all year.
Kelly says
So fun! I love Lovie’s red boots! Where’d she get them?
Karah Stracener says
Looks like y’all had the best Halloween!! I love all the costumes and I love that you and Andrew dress up. It looks like the kids had a blast. Your salted caramel pecan pie looks delicious and I can’t wait to make it.
Kimberly Wiley says
Shay, my boys are in HS now and they’re still not too cool for Halloween! My son told me he’ll be trick or treating as a college boy! Lol!
Lea Culp says
Well, I’d say y’all packed your Halloween to the brim. What a fun memory making time. All of you looked so cute and I think it’s great when parents participate in the costumes. We live in an area where there just isn’t much Trick or Treating. Always enjoy stopping by and sharing in what’s going on in your family.
Kimberly C says
Our Halloween temperatures were perfect ?? it rained that day, stopped a couple hours before trick or treating, and was in the 50s — the kids didn’t need coats and I wore a sweater. So much better than our normal 25 mph wind, 30s, and occasionally snow ?❄️
