You guys, I’m so PUMPED today because my post is sponsored by Walmart+, and I’m sharing all the deets on my first grocery delivery!
For years now, I’ve heard my friends rave and rave about Walmart+ and how much they love the convenience, dependability and ease of their membership, so when Walmart+ reached out about me working with them, I finally said “you know what, it’s time”. This busy working mama of four SHOULD HAVE HER GROCERIES DELIVERED FROM TIME TO TIME. It just makes sense! As much as I love shopping in person, there are days when having them delivered to my house would be so much more convenient. Last Monday morning, after coming home from my trip to Nashville and having my kids home from school in honor of President’s Day, I finally said now is the time. Let’s do this.
I took pics of every step along the way so that I could truly document my first experience.
Here we go, first, I went online to Walmart+ to read their website and see exactly what the advantages were of using this particular membership for my grocery delivery.
So, what is Walmart+?
- It’s a savings membership on grocery delivery, shipping, fuel and more! What makes it different?
- The Walmart+ membership gives you the same everyday low prices delivered free with no markups (with a minimum $35 order, restrictions apply).
- Free same day delivery!
- You can have groceries delivered but other awesome items from Walmart too! No last minute running to the store for school projects; it can be delivered!
- You also get consistent savings on fuel at over 14,000 stations nationwide (fuel discounts vary by location and station, subject to change)!
- You also get a free 30 day trial before you commit to a monthly or annual membership! That’s 30 days to shop, get deliveries and see just how awesome Walmart+ is for your home.
- Right now, Walmart+ members can enjoy 6 free months of ad-free music and more with Spotify Premium! That’s a $59 value free for Walmart+ members. (Not available to Walmart+ trial members or Spotify users who have already tried Premium.)
I sat down on Monday and (at my friends’ urging) decided to take advantage of the annual Walmart+ membership which…
…means I have my free trial until March 22nd!
I immediately decided to…
…get the app 🙂 .
In about 30 seconds, I created an account…
…and was off…
…and shopping!
You guys, this was so easy!
My plan was to work that morning, and then take the little girls to get their haircuts before speech. Look?! I could have had my groceries delivered just a few hours later! How cool is that?! I opted for the 3:00 to 4:00 time slot and my groceries legit arrived at 2:59. Bam.
I loved the search button on the app to make adding my items so super easy!
So simple!
After I finished my shopping, it was time to…
…checkout!
I appreciated the substitution preferences section too!
And that was it! In 11 minutes, I downloaded the Walmart app, created an account, added my groceries to my cart, selected a delivery time and placed an order.
Easy as that!
Then, I could work…
…take my girls to get their hair cut…
…and be home in time to receive these very helpful text messages about my Walmart+ order…
…so helpful, right?
And then, I was able to…
…be there and grab them when they arrived 🙂 .
How simple was that?!
Thank you, thank you, thank you to my friends who encouraged me to give Walmart+ a try. I will absolutely be using it in the future to make life easier for my family. From beginning to end, it was quick, simple, efficient and cost-friendly. Thank you to Walmart+ for wanting to partner with me and my first experience using their service.
Don’t forget, you can sign up HERE to start your own free 30 day trial and get your membership (and all the benefits!) to using Walmart+ too!
Since it’s Monday, I better head out and tackle my meal planning for the week and order more Walmart+ groceries to be delivered right to my door! I’ll see you guys tomorrow. xx

SO EASY!

That seems so fast and easy especially on busy days! Great idea!

LOVE Walmart+. I live too far from a store for delivery but I have items shipped in 2 days. And I can have groceries delivered to my college son! When he had a cold a few weeks ago, it was a lifesaver to send him Tylenol, cough drops, soup mixes, and a treat.
The best part is if you have an American Express Platinum card, Walmart+ is a monthly reward! So, I’m charged the monthly fee, then immediately get a credit for the monthly fee amount.
Mix and Match Mama says
How brilliant are you?! I think that’s such a great tip for other parents too!
Leticia says
Laura, I have a son away from college and did that exact same thing when he was sick before Christmas! Such a relief to care for him even if it’s long distance.
Carrie says
Thank you for the review. I have considered doing it but think about stuff like this…was your frozen stuff still pretty frozen? Were your refrigerated items still pretty cold?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I was concerned about that, but they delivered right on time, so I was home and it was all still very cold and frozen.
Christina says
Hi Carrie! I’ve been using Walmart+ for years and I have only had 2 issues with deliveries. Both were drivers that caused the issues and I sent the results of the issue to Walmart and they refunded me all of my ruined items, no questions asked. I’m not one to jump on a bandwagon too often, but this is one I can get behind…especially as a working Mom 🙂
Emily says
I love using Walmart pickup/delivery for our everyday items! After some trial and error, I’ve learned that our produce and meat is better at our local Publix. But I still use Walmart for everything else…so easy!
Mix and Match Mama says
If you have any other tips, please let me know!
Patty says
I am glad you had a good experience. I was using their delivery service until they brought the completely wrong order TWICE! That means someone else received my orders, and I got theirs. Rather than correcting the problem, I had to completely redo the orders and schedule new delivery times. Another time my order was missing 11 items I had ordered. On a positive note, their customer service was understanding and returned my total annual fee (rather than pro-rating it) when we broke up.
Mix and Match Mama says
Well at least their customer service was good, but getting someone else’s groceries twice is not good.
Sheaffer says
Yessss! It really is the best! In fact, I’m placing an order this morning and will have everything for lunches for the week as well as all the burger stuff I need for tonight!
Mix and Match Mama says
This is all because of YOU and Erika! You girls convinced me!
Nicole says
What salad kits are your fave from there? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
So far, I’ve only bought the chopped ones. I think one was like steakhouse chop and then I bought a few Caesars too.
Nancy H says
Curious, since your groceries are delivered, how do you tip if they just leave them at your front door?
Mix and Match Mama says
On the app! There was a spot on the app to tip my driver.
Katy Saint says
Question on this same topic – so do you tip every time? And if so, how much? This adds quite a bit to the grocery bill, it seems
Mix and Match Mama says
I tip the driver every time! It’s not mandatory, but they’re doing me a tremendous favor getting me my groceries quickly and still frozen (if necessary) plus carrying them to my door, so I think it’s very much worth it.
Katy says
On this same token – do you tip every single time and if so, how much? I feel like tipping adds a LOT into the grocery budget which is why I still do pick up. Though I think I would so prefer delivery, just too cheap to tip 20% every time.
Mix and Match Mama says
I just checked my app. My order yesterday was $140.70, and Walmart gave me options for the gratuity or I could remove it or create my own custom amount. I selected the one they pre-picked (as it was the middle option), so that was $10.53 of my $140.70 total.
Jacki says
How was the quality of the produce? We go through a lot of produce in our house and I feel like this is one reason i have given up on grocery store order ahead/delivery services in the past – we’ve received produce that I would never have selected if in person and it ends up being wasted/thrown out. I love these services and want them to be worth it so badly!
Mix and Match Mama says
I purchased red onions, avocados, lemons, bananas, cilantro, apples (I think that was it), and they were all totally fine!
Marcia says
You will love using it!! You can also “favorite” all the items you buy regularly rather than having to “search” each time. At my store anyway, you can buy just about anything the store carries…not *just groceries!
Mix and Match Mama says
Ohhhhh! Great tip!!!
Debbie says
But a membership at Walmart is $98 a year and if you use Instacart you pay that same membership and get to use all the stores (including Walmart). You would have to still pay a discounted service charge and a tip. So what’s the benefit of the stand alone Walmart delivery?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ve never used Instacart, so I’m not familiar with the ins and outs of how it works?
Debbie says
Shay, on your Walmart order is there a tip required?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t know if I could have removed it or not?? Both times I’ve used the service now, I’ve not attempted to change/remove it.
Jodi says
I know Instacart charges an upcharge on each item vs what you pay in the store. You are not paying the store price per item. On the other hand we don’t have full walmart grocery in our walmart stores so this is not an option.
Mary says
One benefit to my understanding as there isn’t a make up on groceries. The prices are the same as going in store.
Elizabeth Stone says
Instacart marks up the prices so you are paying higher prices along with the delivery/tip fees.
Nancy says
I use Walmart delivery and shipping all the time. My dad lives in assisted living out of state so whenever he needs something, I place an order and Walmart delivers within a couple of hours. It’s great!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I love that idea, Nancy!!
Erika Mills says
We love Walmart+ for pantry items, household, etc. Bonus it’s not groceries, anything in the store can be added so I can also throw in a birthday gift if I need or another pack of socks for my kids. It’s awesome! I don’t do fruits and veggies unless it’s absolutely necessary because I just don’t think mine offers as good options as my other grocery store. Some cc will reimburse the monthly fee so it’s truly a no-brainer.
lisa says
I had a free trial for 6 months but ended up canceling it. I’d set the delivery for when I’d be home but they’d deliver my groceries whenever, leaving frozen and cold items, on the porch, in the sun, while I wasn’t there. Just something to watch out for!
Mix and Match Mama says
Really? My first experience was right on the money, but that’s good to know!
Michelle Carnes says
I haven’t used Walmart yet, but I use Kroger (Hubby works there)… and having the groceries delivered is SUCH a time and money saver. We are bad at impulse shopping when we go into the stores… it’s not as easy to do that when shopping online. I work full time and have kids in sports. I’m usually running like crazy to get to one event or the other. I don’t know how I functioned before being able to have my groceries delivered!
Deena says
I don’t need grocery delivery but I did try it once on vacation and it worked well. I was even able to get wine delivered (in select areas). I’ve gotten pickup a couple of times at Walmart and my only problem was that you get so many unneeded bags, sometimes one item in a bag. I think they could improve in that area.
Julia says
Amex platinum gives us free Walmart + membership and Walmart + gives free Paramount + subscription!
Kate says
Love Walmart delivery!! If you use the AnyList app for a grocery list you can shop directly from AnyList to Walmart… game changer! (Makes online shopping even faster!)
Bridget says
I have only used the delivery option once, but have religiously used the pickup option for the last five years since having my 4th. Other than a few hiccups, I’ve been extremely happy with the convenience, price, and quality of items. Returns are very simple should anything be damaged. I also use the “quick add” option when ordering my weekly items. They pop up separate from my favorites and are there automatically there for me based on my order history. This is a super fast way for me to order my weekly staples with very little time spent.
Jennifer says
I don’t have a Walmart close enough for the delivery so I use Stop and Shop. I absolutely love having the groceries delivered especially with an 8 month old and 3 year old who are keeping me busy.
I love how I can add to my Cart on the app as I run out of things or find myself needing as I go through my day. I also love how it keeps me on budget because I can’t just grab something that looks good.
Sherron Borders says
I’ve been using it for a year with very few problems. If I’ve had a problem it was dealt with promptly and always to my satisfaction. It’s been a great time saver and service.
Claire says
Shay, you look so adorable in your glasses!! You can pull off anything 🙂
Also, I’m in shock your kiddos’ spring break is this upcoming week!! Mine don’t get off til March 24! They should make it in between ours for a happy medium…
Emily says
It is so easy especially on busy days or weeks when one of us is sick. I wish this was around when my teenagers were babies.
Elizabeth Feldpausch says
I’ve always used Walmart grocery delivery when we travel to Disney but have always been hesitant for at home! I think I don’t want to admit I don’t have as much time as I would like to stroll the aisles of the grocery store 🫣
Cathy says
I love Walmart delivery. I don’t order produce because I’m very picky. But I order everything else. Also, if there is something that you don’t approve, like a dented can or open package, which has only happened to me once. They will refund you. You can also add cleaning supplies, clothes, home and garden. If you don’t like it, they will refund that also. Just call 1 (800) 966-6546 They don’t want anything returned. Like I said, I only got a refund once. It’s just so easy.
Keisha McKinney says
Goodness it’s the best. I use it weekly. Makes it all so much easier. Another tip is figuring out your store and the day of the week you have the least substitutions. We did not do Walmart growing up. But it’s a whole different ballgame now!
