Here’s an easy recipe for your week! We make my Simple Sausage, Peppers & Onions around here all the time! Whether you find a pork kielbasa or an Italian chicken sausage (or anything in between), you can easily whip this one up!
We like to serve ours over rice, and my favorite hack is to use frozen rice! I buy ours at either Walmart or Trader Joe’s. The entire dinner comes together in no time flat.
Happy Wednesday! xx
PrintSimple Sausage, Peppers & Onions
- Yield: 4 to 6 people 1x
Description
This version of Sausage, Peppers & Onions is on the table in no time! I serve ours over rice, and my favorite hack is to use frozen rice! I buy ours at either Walmart or Trader Joe’s. The entire dinner comes together in no time flat. You can, of course, enjoy it without a grain too. Dinner on the table fast? YES, PLEASE!
Ingredients
- 2 (14 oz) packages of fully cooked kielbasa style sausage links (I use a turkey sausage), cut into rounds
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
- salt and pepper
- 2 red bell peppers, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves of garlic, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 (8 oz) cans of tomato sauce
- chopped parsley to garnish, optional
- a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese to garnish, optional
- cooked and ready to eat rice for serving, optional
Instructions
- In a large pan over medium-high heat, add in your sausage rounds with a generous drizzle of EVOO. Take a few minutes to brown up the sausage on both sides. Add in a big pinch of both salt and pepper.
- Next, add in a bit more EVOO along with your sliced bell peppers, garlic and onion. Saute the veggies and sausage together until the veggies are tender. Add in a bit more salt and pepper.
- Next, stir in your tomato sauce and let everything come up to a simmer.
- Once it’s simmering, remove from heat and serve with a garnish of chopped parsley and a bit of Parm over rice.

Hi Shay!
I love your “meal planning Mondays”! Do you have a blog or post that highlights your go-to meals—the ones that are always in rotation and loved by your family? Those meals you make almost every week? If not, could you consider doing a post that lists your top 15 meals that are staples in your kitchen, no matter the season? Thank you!

A top 15 meals on rotation would be a great post! I just wrote this on my list. I love this idea!

Yum!! Can you put all of the ingredients (including uncooked sausage) into the crockpot?
Mix and Match Mama says
You can but it won’t saute up the same way. I would really recommend making this one on the stovetop and then should you want to make it early and keep it warm, let it stay warm in the slow cooker.

I just made this a couple of nights ago – we love it! It’s a busy back to school week and we needed something super simple to throw in the crockpot and just have waiting for us!
