Our first stop on the trip to Missouri is always IHOP. Here we are eating breakfast at 6:20 in the morning. I’m a much happier passenger after a big plate of pancakes!
Andrew’s favorite restaurant in Joplin is Pizza By Stout. We go there every visit (sometimes more than once). I must admit, after 5 years of visiting Joplin, it’s my favorite restaurant too.
They are so cute it’s sickening…
Uncle Dave and Aunt Victoria came to eat pizza with us too
Do you notice who is sitting on Andrew’s shoulder while he watches TV???
The Shull’s house decorated with Christmas lights
Andrew lives right outside a very, very, very small town called Neck City. I tell him that he is from there (the “Welcome to Neck City” sign is literally in his front yard) but his entire family refuses to believe it. It is a rather unusual little speck on the map…let’s put it this way, there are more belongings outside of one’s home in Neck City than inside. Be that as it may, the town of Neck City loves to decorate this huge tree every Christmas right out in front of all their trailers. It is a very festive tree no matter how unusual this little town might be.
Jonathan and Gretchen’s house…it is adorable year around but it looks particularly good covered in snow.
I love Kansas City!

Brode had more gifts than I think he knew what to do with.

We just had the best four days in Missouri for Christmas. It was a lot of napping, eating, movie watching, eating and napping some more. We were there long enough that we got to drive to Kansas City and visit Jonathan, Gretchen and Brode too. The weather was cold (especially in KC where there was snow on the ground), and it made for the perfect time to be at the farm.
