Happy Monday, friends!
Okay, quick story….
On Saturday morning, I answered a question in the comment section about whether or not certain locations in The Five-Star Weekend series were filmed in “real” locations or not. I’ve only watched the first two episodes, but it appears the exterior shots were all here on Nantucket but many of the interior ones were not. One example seems to be inside of Bartlett’s Farm in episode one.
Later Saturday afternoon, Kensington and I ran to Bartlett’s Farm to get some groceries, and I told her I would take a quick photo inside to show you guys. The store was bustling (it was a Saturday), and we were standing at an end cap by the produce (where I wanted to take said photo because Jennifer Garner is by the produce in episode one) when who did I see standing there getting her veggies? ELIN HILDERBRAND.
Bahahaha! I looked at Kensington and we couldn’t stop laughing. I told you just last week that I see her ALL.THE.TIME out in the wild. What are the odds I would see her in that moment when I was trying to take that photo? Needless to say, I’ll snap that pic the next time I’m there. I didn’t think Elin needed to be in my “quick” photo about The Five-Star Weekend 😉 .
Alrighty, I think it was last year (could have been the year before?) that Ashby and Mades went around town and took some pics of their day. Well, they had so much fun that they asked me if they could do it again this year too.
This time, they wanted to do A PERFECT DAY ON ACK {WITH ASHBY AND MADES} 🙂 .
These two girlies get into town on their own (biking, walking, taking the bus), but on Friday afternoon, I drove them in, parked, and enjoyed the beautiful day while they scampered off to take some photos for you of their “perfect day” in town.
This weekend, they sat by me while I uploaded them here, and they gave me some feedback about each one.
Here we go…

They stopped by The Nantucket Hotel and Resort because it’s their favorite hotel.

They took some “around town” photos while they walked. This would be one of them 😉 .

Another “around town” photo.

These two girls LOVE both Bookworks and Mitchell’s. Both shops are owned by the same people, and they carry some of the same books, but they also carry some that are different. If you’re looking for one in particular, they can tell you which shop is currently carrying it and/or they can order it for you. My girls spend A LOT of time getting books at both locations.

Of course, no perfect day on Nantucket could be complete without a stop at The Juice Bar! I was not at all surprised when I saw they went here for…

…the best ice cream on Nantucket!

Mades got the Triple Chocolate Mountain (which is also Smith and Andrew’s favorite)…

…and Ashby got The Raz (which is a raspberry milkshake).
Next up, they took their ice cream and walked over to…

…Barnaby’s! This is absolutely one of their favorite spots. Not only is it a toy store, but they also host arts and crafts classes every day for kids. We ADORE Barnaby’s!

They apparently left Barnaby’s and walked to the top of Main to stop by Mitchell’s (the other book store)…

…more “around town” pics. This one clearly showcasing the fine trash receptacles on Nantucket 😉 .

And another pic on Main Street.
Next up…

…Aunt Leah’s Fudge!

Aunt Leah herself is behind the counter making delicious fudge and candies and the BEST iced coffee on Nantucket (she will tell you each time you order one).

Nantucket Clothing Company is their favorite place for sweatshirts. I am always amazed how quickly they turn over items here. The store is constantly changing with seasonal, fun designs.
My girls also took a pic of…

…Nantucket Surf Club because this is where they like to buy clothes. It has a fun, funky vibe inside and is filled with all sorts of “surf” swimsuits, hats, beach towels and clothes.
Finally, their last stop was…

…Force 5 Watersports. This is where we bought our surfboard and boogie boards. They have sunglasses, sunscreen, swimsuits, goggles, snorkels…all of that “stuff”. My girls like it extra extra because they also have a “secret” candy room.
I asked the girls a few questions to wrap up their “perfect day”.
Where would you like to have breakfast?
They said The Hub. Ashby would get the avocado toast and Mades would get the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
Where would you like to have lunch?
They said The Tavern. Ashby would get clam chowder and Mades would get chicken fingers. I cracked up because Mades then said to us “that’s not a very good answer”. Bahahaha! Nope, but it’s the truth.
Where would you like to have dinner?
This became a whole big discussion because they couldn’t decide. Ironically, they finally agreed on their top three…all beginning with the letter B: Brant Point Grill, Brotherhood of Thieves and Bar Yoshi.
And that was A PERFECT DAY ON ACK {WITH ASHBY & MADES}!
I hope you all had a great weekend! Thanks for kicking off your week with me. I’ll see you back here tomorrow. xx

I love this. I have been many times but I never went to the juice bar. That raspberry milkshake looks amazing. I will add that to my list for the fall.

This post gave me an idea for a future blog post. Looks like they had a fun day in town buying different things, how do you handle money with your kids? Do they get an allowance? Do you pay for certain things but not other items? Does it change based on age? I know smith has a job so has his own money but how does K get money? Do they have to pay for any car related expenses? I feel like every family does this differently and we are constantly reevaluating how to handle money w teens.
Mix and Match Mama says
I could certainly do a blog post about it but who knows if I’m doing it right?! Agh! These things are hard! Jotting it down!

Right?! Haha! ACK is the airport code for Nantucket. It is a very very popular way to refer to the island.

I love that ACK has allowed you to give the girls more freedom than a bigger city on the mainland would afford them. I am sure they know their way around like the back of their hand but as someone who gets lost all the time (zero sense of direction) having the ability to run around is more reminiscent of my childhood days than what my daughter had or my granddaughter is having. It helps teach independence, who and how to ask for help (my daughter was way to shy to ask anyone), the joy of exploring spots on the island that they may not have spent time at before. It seems like a great childhood / teenage time. You and Andrew are doing a great job.
Mix and Match Mama says
You are too, too, too kind. It’s a blessing that we are able to do this with our kids.
Dawn Scheurich says
How cute are they for wanting to do that post?! Also, Madley looks SO grown up!
