Today, I loaded up both of my babies, lathered them in sun screen, packed a lunch and headed to our neighborhood beach club with my besties. Doesn’t it look wonderful…
Do you see my 4 beautiful friends with their children…playing…having a wonderful morning…
Now do you see my kids…
…sitting on the grass…as far away from the beach as they could get. Kensington screamed the whole time we were there that it was too dirty. The minute she stuck one toe in the sand, she said “too dirty, let’s go home”. I drug her out there, I made her play, I listened to her repeat over and over again, “it’s too dirty, let’s go home”. I mean, come on…this is the kid who has already been to Hawaii…she should LOVE the beach. But no, we sat in the grass. I could have just walked her out to the front yard to do that. Ohhhh…the thought process of a one year old girl.

That cracks me up! I can't believe Kensington fell asleep out there! 🙂

I am laughing SO hard. I felt really badly for you. It's hard work getting kids ready for the beach club…then to get there and have one of them miserable is awful! Not to mention, you had to deal with the sand after you got home. I bet K was less than pleased. After you get back we will hit the pool again! 🙂

As I read this, I was laughing out loud. I have been there. SO. MANY. TIMES. From the neat freak who hates dirt to the incessant "let's go home" comments to the sadness of watching your friends play while you sit on a blanket. I feel your pain. Just be thankful that K and S fell asleep and gave you some peace instead of escalating into whining and sobbing.
And just so you know, this time next year it will be a completely different story. They will be so into playing that you will be begging them to come sit on the blanket for a bit. 🙂
