This week, my kiddos have swim lessons at 4:00 every afternoon and we aren’t getting home until after 5:00. So, I’m making something in the slow cooker for dinner each night. Tonight, we’re having …
…my sweet friend Andrea’s Pulled Pork. I love it because it’s only four ingredients and the slow cooker does all of the work! To see some of my other easy slow cooker suppers, click here.
And here is Smith during his first year of swim lessons in 2012 (he was 2.5).
I can’t believe how big my babies have gotten. It just goes by so fast.
3. What I’m loving…
I don’t know where I was or why I wasn’t watching Gilmore Girls when it first came out, but I’m binge watching the show now and am completely obsessed. I love the dialog, the chemistry, the writing, the backdrop…I love it all!
4. What we’ve been up to…
…we went swimming for the first time this season!
It has been raining for a solid month here in North Texas. It’s been an crazy amount of rain (Smith has only been able to play 2 baseball games…the other 5 have been rained out!). So, on Saturday, we had a bright, sunny, cloudless and warmish day (it was around 75) and Erika and I decided to take the six kiddos to a heated pool for some swimming! We had so much fun! During the summer, we’re in the pool every day, so it was fun to kick off our swimming early this year. This was sweet Ashby’s very first time in a pool and she had a BLAST! This girl didn’t hesitate one bit…she got in and played like she’s been doing it forever. Sweet girl :).
6. What I’m working on…
My vegetable garden.
I’ve decided to plant a vegetable garden this year…and that’s totally a work in progress. Right now, I’m trying to find the best place in my yard for the garden and then we’ll go from there.
I start to get nervous this time of year because I know there are only a few episodes left until my favorite shows (like Scandal!) have before their summer break. I haaaaaaaate waiting until the fall to see how the cliffhangers end. After years of watching Scandal…I know it will end with a very dramatic cliffhanger. Sigh.
I’m reading something fun and quirky right now…
I’ve been reading Rachel Anne Ridge’s new book Flash. I didn’t know what to expect but it’s this wonderful memoir about a family (particularly the mom) and how she gets through a rough patch in life with a donkey by her side. If you like Melanie Shankle or Sophie Hudson books, you will love Flash! It’s warm and charming.
Haha! I’m so cool…I’ve been listening to Disney Junior’s DJ Shuffle :).
Somebody I know is sleeping in her big girl bed!!
Woohoo!
Ashby transitioned on her own (she was so proud of herself!) two weeks ago and hasn’t fussed about it once. My sweet girl is doing so good!
I don’t have a picture of the grandmothers’ necklaces but here are two of mine…Ashby and #blessed :).
I can’t wait to read through your link ups! Thanks for playing What’s Up Wednesday with us!

Love this link up! Excited to join in with y'all for this month!! 🙂 SO exciting that Ashby is in her big girl bed!! And I will definitely be praying for her MRI and that things will go smoothly. Quick question. How do you get your little one to not roll off the bed? My little girl is fixing to be 3year in July and this is what we worry about the most in transition to a bigger bed.

I love those necklaces and I feel for your girl on the MRI — I'm an adult and I HATE HATE them. Hugs to Momma and your little one.

Gilmore Girls is the best! If you love the fast talking dialog, you should try West Wing next! Obviously very different subject, but oh so good!
Paige says
how fun! Hopefully I can link up next month—blogging has taken a backseat to life with a 5 month old & 3 year old! I always love reading your blog!

My best friend and I just started watching Gilmore Girls and we are at the end of season 1. It's so good and the one liners are hilarious! I don't know how I missed that show when it was on, either.

My daughter had an MRI of her brain and then again of her spine last year when she was 3. They let us stay in the room as they put her to sleep so she wasn't left with strangers. She just had to breathe in "silly gas" until she was out the.ln they put the iv in with sedation. It's not as scary as it seems!
mel @ the larson lingo says

The DJ Shuffle CD! It's playing non-stop in my car too! You know, the other day, I dropped my son off at preschool and I started driving to work and didn't even realize it was still on AND I was singing along until halfway there… 10 minutes later LOL. It's pretty catchy!

You're right, the writing is so unique and it's full of strong, intelligent, and funny female characters.
It was a special show.
