What’s Up Wednesday {4/29/2015}

Hello there Wednesday!
I’m super excited to kick off this new linky party with my girls Mel and Sheaffer!
The last Wednesday of every month, we’re going to answer these questions…

…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts.  We can’t wait to go through your posts and see what you guys are up to this month too!  Thanks for playing friends!  Let’s get started…
1. What we’re eating this week…
This week, my kiddos have swim lessons at 4:00 every afternoon and we aren’t getting home until after 5:00.  So, I’m making something in the slow cooker for dinner each night.  Tonight, we’re having …

…my sweet friend Andrea’s Pulled Pork.  I love it because it’s only four ingredients and the slow cooker does all of the work!  To see some of my other easy slow cooker suppers, click here.

2. What I’m reminiscing about…

We’ve been taking swim lessons from the same teacher now for four years in a row.  We look forward to our lessons all year long and talk about Mrs. Sally constantly!  This is from Kensington’s first set of lessons in 2011 (she was 2.5 here).

And here is Smith during his first year of swim lessons in 2012 (he was 2.5).

I can’t believe how big my babies have gotten.  It just goes by so fast.

3. What I’m loving…

I don’t know where I was or why I wasn’t watching Gilmore Girls when it first came out, but I’m binge watching the show now and am completely obsessed.  I love the dialog, the chemistry, the writing, the backdrop…I love it all!

4. What we’ve been up to…

…we went swimming for the first time this season!

It has been raining for a solid month here in North Texas.  It’s been an crazy amount of rain (Smith has only been able to play 2 baseball games…the other 5 have been rained out!).  So, on Saturday, we had a bright, sunny, cloudless and warmish day (it was around 75) and Erika and I decided to take the six kiddos to a heated pool for some swimming!  We had so much fun!  During the summer, we’re in the pool every day, so it was fun to kick off our swimming early this year.  This was sweet Ashby’s very first time in a pool and she had a BLAST!  This girl didn’t hesitate one bit…she got in and played like she’s been doing it forever.  Sweet girl :).

5. What I’m dreading…

My sweet girl has an MRI this month that they’ll have to put her under for.  I’m excited about the doctor’s going over the results with us and having a better understanding of her particular Vascular Malformation…but I’m dreading the day we have to take her to the hospital and have her put under.

6. What I’m working on…
My vegetable garden.

I’ve decided to plant a vegetable garden this year…and that’s totally a work in progress.  Right now, I’m trying to find the best place in my yard for the garden and then we’ll go from there.

7. What I’m excited about…

This sweet kid has Kindergarten Roundup next week!  All of the kids going into kindergarten next year at his new school meet with their parents for an informational meeting, tour of the school and we get to meet the teachers.  Now, my husband pointed out to me that it seems silly for us to attend since we currently have a kindergartner in said school and are extremely well versed in the kindergarten subject…but, this is for Smith :).
My boy is so excited to be in school like Kensington!  I am excited for Smith because he is so excited.  Last year, Kensington was very nervous, which made this mama’s heart nervous…but Smith is super pumped (it helps when you see your big sister have so much fun every day!).

8. What I’m watching/reading…

I start to get nervous this time of year because I know there are only a few episodes left until my favorite shows (like Scandal!) have before their summer break.  I haaaaaaaate waiting until the fall to see how the cliffhangers end.  After years of watching Scandal…I know it will end with a very dramatic cliffhanger.  Sigh.

I’m reading something fun and quirky right now…

I’ve been reading Rachel Anne Ridge’s new book Flash. I didn’t know what to expect but it’s this wonderful memoir about a family (particularly the mom) and how she gets through a rough patch in life with a donkey by her side.   If you like Melanie Shankle or Sophie Hudson books, you will love Flash!  It’s warm and charming.

9. What I’m listening to…
Haha!  I’m so cool…I’ve been listening to Disney Junior’s DJ Shuffle :).

Smith asked if we could download this on iTunes (thank you commercial advertisement), and we’ve been listening to it pretty much non-stop.  My kids LOVE hearing their favorite Disney songs in the car while we drive around.  I have to admit…it’s pretty happy and peppy and makes me smile too :).

10. What I’m wearing…

Since it’s been raining and cooler, I’ve been wearing transitional clothes.  I bought this terrycloth sweatshirt and love it!  It runs big, so I’m wearing an XS.  This is light enough for late April and early May but warm enough for the cooler temps.

11. What I’m doing this weekend…

It’s my beautiful sister-in-law’s birthday today, but we’re celebrating on Saturday!  Can’t wait to eat a yummy meal at my mama’s and celebrate this lady :).

12. What I’m looking forward to next month…

Headed to Boston with my dad to see our Sox (and visit our brick!).

13. What else is new…

Somebody I know is sleeping in her big girl bed!!

Ashby transitioned on her own (she was so proud of herself!) two weeks ago and hasn’t fussed about it once.  My sweet girl is doing so good!

14. What I am giving (or want to receive) for Mother’s Day…
Last year, we gave my mom and Andrew’s mom necklaces from Stella & Dot that had their grandmother names engraved on there (my mom is Lovie and his mom is Nanny).  I think they both really liked them :).  My friend Jody is a Stella & Dot rep and I always have an online party going.  You can visit it here and see the engraveables.

I don’t have a picture of the grandmothers’ necklaces but here are two of mine…Ashby and #blessed :).

I can’t wait to read through your link ups!  Thanks for playing What’s Up Wednesday with us!

On my foodie blog today…

…my 2 ingredient Pineapple Muffins!  (Your kiddos will eat these up!)

And…the winner of The Mother of All Giveaways Week Kendra Scott gift card is…

Congratulations Susan!  You won a $500 Kendra Scott gift card for yourself and one for your favorite mama!!  I am emailing you now, please email me right back to claim your prize.

Happy Wednesday!

Love this link up! Excited to join in with y'all for this month!! ๐Ÿ™‚ SO exciting that Ashby is in her big girl bed!! And I will definitely be praying for her MRI and that things will go smoothly. • Clarinda April 29, 2015 at 2:32 pm

Quick question. How do you get your little one to not roll off the bed? My little girl is fixing to be 3year in July and this is what we worry about the most in transition to a bigger bed.

  • Stacey Schneller April 29, 2015 at 2:36 pm

I will pray for cute lil Ashby and her MRI. It is so scary to have a little one put under. Love the striped sweatshirt. May I ask where it is from?

  • Maren Hall Arnold April 29, 2015 at 4:52 pm

Have you seen the Gilmore Girl's book list floating around? It is a list of all the book references in the TV series. Fantastic show!

  • Priscilla - Wheelchair Mommy/Stylish Gimp April 29, 2015 at 5:23 pm

I love those necklaces and I feel for your girl on the MRI — I'm an adult and I HATE HATE them. Hugs to Momma and your little one.

  • Melissa April 29, 2015 at 6:31 pm

Gilmore Girls is the best! If you love the fast talking dialog, you should try West Wing next! Obviously very different subject, but oh so good!

  • Paige April 29, 2015 at 6:34 pm

how fun! Hopefully I can link up next month—blogging has taken a backseat to life with a 5 month old & 3 year old! I always love reading your blog!

  • Anonymous April 29, 2015 at 8:59 pm

My best friend and I just started watching Gilmore Girls and we are at the end of season 1. It's so good and the one liners are hilarious! I don't know how I missed that show when it was on, either.

  • Ivy April 29, 2015 at 9:11 pm

My daughter had an MRI of her brain and then again of her spine last year when she was 3. They let us stay in the room as they put her to sleep so she wasn't left with strangers. She just had to breathe in "silly gas" until she was out the.ln they put the iv in with sedation. It's not as scary as it seems!

  • mel @ the larson lingo April 29, 2015 at 9:48 pm

I watched Gilmore Girls for the first time in October. Binge watched all 7 seasons in less than a month. Totally obsessed! Yay Ashby sleeping in her big girl bed!! Loving our new linky party!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    GO SOX!!!!!!

  • Elizabeth Birenbaum April 30, 2015 at 12:25 am

The DJ Shuffle CD! It's playing non-stop in my car too! You know, the other day, I dropped my son off at preschool and I started driving to work and didn't even realize it was still on AND I was singing along until halfway there… 10 minutes later LOL. It's pretty catchy!

  • fertilityregime April 30, 2015 at 12:26 am

Love that you're so into Gilmore Girls! I enjoyed it soo much too at the time.
You're right, the writing is so unique and it's full of strong, intelligent, and funny female characters.
    It was a special show.

  • Anonymous April 30, 2015 at 1:54 am

The Girl on the Train was excellent – thank you for recommending it!

  • Allyson Butler April 30, 2015 at 11:41 pm
