It’s a burger that has the same bells and whistles as a pizza…pepperoni, tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil. It’s a Pizza Burger and it should be on your menu tonight.
This recipe makes 4 (half-pound) burgers.
2 pounds of ground beef
2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
8 slices of good quality pepperoni
2 tomatoes, sliced
4 thick slices of fresh mozzarella
about 8 to 12 fresh basil leaves
Preheat your outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat.
Combine ground beef and Italian seasoning blend. Divide mixture into four sections and make four patties (make sure to press down each patty a little in the center to avoid the “burger bulge” when they grill).
Add your burgers to the grill and begin grilling (we do about 6 minutes or so each side). About a minute before you’re ready to take the burger off of the grill, add two two slices of pepperoni, a thick slice of tomato and one slice of fresh mozzarella to each patty. Grill another minute or so (the cheese will start to melt a little).
Remove from grill and add to a burger bun then top with basil leaves.
My kiddos ate these up! Burgers that have pepperoni on them and taste like a pizza…so good!
