Happy February 29 from the Shull family!
Today, goals…tomorrow, A GIVEAWAY! And it’s a BIG one ladies. You are not going to want to miss it!
Okay, I’m going to go ahead and be super lazy right now. This month, we’re going on vacation during spring break and we’re going on a road trip over Easter. For some reason, we’ve decided to pack it in this month. So…in lieu of goals, I’m just going to focus on having fun with my family instead. Do I need to get some stuff done around my house? Yes. Can it wait until April? Absolutely. Andrew is going to be gone in April, so that’s the perfect time for me to tackle some projects. There’s a cabinet in my bathroom completely full of stuff…and yet, I never open it and use one thing from it. Why is it so full? Why have I not purged it yet? April. I’ll spring clean in April.
The only real goal I have for March is to watch every episode of Fuller House. #truth
So, here is how things shook out in February…
1. Go Meatless twice a week. Friends! Just like the “read two books a month” goal I set almost two years ago…I think this one is a keeper! I’m going to remove it from my to-do list because, I’m doing it with ease now! Watch out world…next thing you know, I’ll be vegan. #probablynot #iheartcheesetoomuch #thatbeingsaidneversaynever #ialwayssaidiwouldntgoonadisneycruiseeither
2. Get more sleep. Well, I did get more sleep this month…but only after figuring myself out. Friends, I was doing it all wrong. In my head, I kept thinking I needed to sleep in more. I kept thinking that yes, I needed more sleep…so, yes, that meant I needed to sleep in more. But NO, that is not what that meant. I am a morning person. Fight it as I might…sleeping in just doesn’t work for me. I feel cranky, rushed, and not super happy (which is the whole point of getting more sleep). For me, I need to go to bed earlier. As Oprah would say, I had an ah-ha moment. Cue Oprah cheering me on…
I do need more sleep, but for me, I need to go to bed earlier in order to get it. About halfway through February, I figured this out. Instead of going to bed between 10 and 10:30, I was aiming for 9:30…and when Andrew was out of town, I went to bed at 8:30 three nights! 8:30! I’ll always prefer waking up earlier…so, I need to focus on going to bed earlier at least a few nights a week.
3. Get Valentine’s addressed early and with minimal whining. Done. Whew. Glad that’s over.
4. Magic Eraser my baseboards. Did it! I picked a Sunday afternoon to tackle my baseboards. My Magic Eraser, clean (slightly damp) towel I headed out with baseboards to clean off. How in the world do baseboards get so scuffed and dirty? I was seriously like confused on how my family can manage to scuff up baseboards in the most random places. But…they’re all clean now. I felt very accomplished when I was done :).
That was February…tomorrow is March. In April, I’ll write me up a to-do list. For now, I’m off to watch more Fuller House and pack our bags. What are you doing this next month? What’s on your to-do list? Besides baseboards, what’s one other overlooked area that I can tackle in April? I love hearing your suggestions! You ladies are the best!
…Meal Planning Monday is up today! Five simple suppers to make your week easy!
And for grins, one last little video from February…
Happy February 29th!

I would love to hear what foods you incorporate into your meals on the days you cut meat! I love eggs so when I'm looking for a protein source outside of meat usually eggs are my go-to but I'd love to mix it up! Hope you have a great Monday! xo

I second that! Does your family go meat free too? Can you give us a couple examples? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
No way! My four adore their meat and aren't interested in trying meat-free ;). Last night for instance, we had tacos, so I just filled my flour tortilla with black beans instead of ground beef (along with lettuce, jalapenos and guacamole). I'm not making myself separate meals, I'm just modifying. Also, I find it simpler to go meat free when we eat out (like on Friday night), that way, I can enjoy my meals at home with my family during the week (because I do enjoy a hearty meat dish!).

Thanks for the baseboard cleaning tip. By the way, Fuller House is awesome!

Fuller House!! So glad it fell on the weekend Tab was out of town so I binge watched like a mad woman.

Loved Fuller House. Doorknobs and around them on the door are places I have to remember to wipe down once in awhile.
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
That video is flipping hilarious. I could watch it again and again. Smith's split leap in the air, Ashby's leg kick, Kensington's backwards bootie shaking….It's ALL GOOD!
Jamie Allen says
finished {fuller house} last night. more, please?

Love your March, great goal!! The fact that you completed the baseboard goal is huge for me because that sounds like such a daunting task ha, I know I need to tackle it soon! Happy Monday!

My husband ordered Netflix just so I could watch Fuller House. I couldn't even get past the first episode. On the plus side, though, I discovered other series that I enjoyed, lol. So we're keeping Netflix!

If you have blinds in your house they could be a good thing to tackle, you'd be surprised how dirty they get! I just cleaned and repainted our baseboards this weekend!

I go half way through fuller house this weekend and loved it ! We are so ready for spring break over here ! Have a great week !!!
Aubrey says
Getting to bed earlier feels SO LAME in the evening, but it feels SO GREAT the next morning. Glad you cracked that, friend. And that video! Hahahahahaha! K's booty shake made my giggles turn into guffaws!
Beth Kaiser says
Can you please give some packing tips? We're going on spring break someplace warm, from someplace cold. Having a hard time figuring out what to pack!!!! P. S. I bought 2 pairs of the Steve Madden wedges – they are awesome! (The lower heel style)
Marcela Friesen says
Yes please! Packing tips, beach tips, traveling tips, etc would be awesome!

I was wanting to ask you a while back how you didn't feel groggy/cranky/have a headache from going to bed late and waking up so early (although I figured your body had just gotten used to it.) I started going to bed around 8 when I had my baby a year ago and it makes all the difference! 🙂 I am a morning person too.
MommyLu says
I need to do my baseboards! I tried to outsource it to the kids (9 & 7) but it didn't quite work out. 🙂 The fronts of the kitchen cabinets is another good one. Every now and then, the light will shine just right into the kitchen and I cringe seeing how dirty they are. Good news is it's a pretty fast one to tackle!
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
Magic Eraser on baseboards – that is genius!! Great tip! I agree with you on sleep – I am a morning person, so if I am laying down by 9 or 9:30 each night I feel so much better!!
Megan says
I can't wait to read ALL about your cruise!!
Alexis deZayas says
Hey Shay! What's your reasoning for going meat free twice a week?
Mix and Match Mama says
You know, I think there's a place for animal protein in most diets, but I do think I personally feel better when I don't over do it on the animal protein. Going meat-free twice a week really helps me focus on getting my nutrition from other sources.
Alexis deZayas says
That makes sense! I may have to try. Thanks Shay! 🙂

Best 8 bucks spent Evah! Do you have a fire stick? It's through Amazon. It's 50 bucks, I think. Attached to your tv and then you have Netflix, Amazon prime and Hulu.
Annie Whitehurst says
You're going to have a hard time going on any other cruise after going Disney. It's so fantastic!
April says
I was wondering how you stay up so late and get up so early! 🙂 I'm also an early riser with an 8:30 bedtime! I get told that I'm an old lady all the time…but I really don't care! haha!
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum} says
Hilarious…for some reason this morning when I was vacuuming, I got a wild hair and used the hand tool to do every single stair, railing and baseboard!? When I was done, I felt wildly happy, and a little confused about where that burst came from! but who cares, I went with it! 😉 Sounds like a fun month ahead!!
Val @ Chicken Scratch. says
The dust on the very tip top of doors that stay open a lot. Its one the places I forget to clean weekly and when I do it I'm always amazed at how much I wipe off.
Liz Sargent says
I googled a recipe to copy the Chipotle Soffritos (tofu) to try this week for our "burrito bowl" night – hoping that the whole gang will like it as a meat-free option. For cleaning: the grout in the bathroom floor tiles…tedious and may give you a hand cramp, but satisfying when done!
Hannah -Lugimom Blog- says
I am loving Fuller House. Cheesy-goodness! Your monthly goals have inspired me to write my own, so thanks for that! I've got things like date night, no social media on the weekends, and no wheat or dairy this month on my goal list. Hoping I stick to it!
kaitybug says
Would you mind posting some of your meatless recipes?

So excited to hear about your cruise! We just got back from 10 days at Disney (parks & cruise) and for the 4 of us ( I have 2 daughters 5 & 7) and we checked 4 large suitcases & 2 medium sized. Not counting carry on! Obviously a chronic over-packer because I don't like to forget anything. 😉 I would love to hear your packing tips/organization. Specifically what to pack & how many pieces of luggage work for you guys-you also always look super cute when you travel (and everyday)! Also wondering about what time your kids go to bed now that you go to bed earlier? I would love to be a morning person, but at the end of the day & girls go to bed, I love some down time so I stay up. Enjoy reading your blog!
