Well this burger was a BIG hit at my house!
On a whim, I thought I would make a burger that was flavored like the meatballs we have all the time. I made them, Andrew grilled them and we all loved them! I topped our Meatball Burgers with a yummy (and quick) tomato sauce and provolone cheese. Seriously…this burger needs to be happening at your house this week!
This recipe makes 4 (half pound) burgers.
Shopping List
2 pounds of ground beef
1 cup of plain breadcrumbs
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup of onion, grated (I use a cheese grater)
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
3½ tablespoons of Italian seasoning blend, divided
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 (8 oz) can of tomato sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 teaspoon garlic powder
4 thick slices of provolone cheese
4 buns
chopped parsley to garnish
Preheat your outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat.
In a mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, grated onion, garlic, 3 tablespoons of Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese with your hands or a spoon.
Divide mixture into four sections and make four patties (make sure to press down each patty a little in the center to avoid the “burger bulge” when they grill).
Add your burger patties to the grill and begin grilling (we do about 6 minutes or so each side). About two minutes before you’re ready to remove, add a thick slice of provolone to the tops of each patty.
While your patties are grilling up, make your quick tomato sauce. In a bowl, combine your tomato sauce, ketchup, garlic powder and remaining 1/2 tablespoon of Italian seasoning. Stir together and then set aside.
When your patties are done, remove from the grill and assemble your burgers. Bun, cheeseburger patty, dollop of tomato sauce and chopped parsley to garnish.
Whoa! This burger is so delicious!
