So…I’m out of town right now.
My family is at home, but I’m away…so today, I’m posting one recipe and then won’t be back until Thursday. But WAIT! You want to come back on Thursday! I PROMISE YOU!!!!!!! So, enjoy today’s recipe, we’ll skip tomorrow and then we can all reconvene on Thursday morning. I’m telling you…it cannot be missed 🙂 .
Today’s recipe is another twist on the burger. My brother is obsessed with Hawaiian style pizza and so the other day, I thought “how could I spin that with a burger?” and BAM! This supper was born. Fire up the grill, throw on your patties AND your pineapple and get ready for a burger so full of flavor. It’s just what this Tuesday needs.
Enjoy!
This recipe makes four (half-pound) burgers.
Shopping List
2 pounds of ground beef
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
about 2 tablespoons of your favorite steak seasoning
1 whole pineapple, cut into big pieces (the bigger pieces make it easier to grill)
4 thick slices of mozzarella cheese
1/4 pound or so of sliced pepperoni
pizza sauce (either store bought or homemade)
1 red onion, chopped to garnish
4 onion rolls, lightly toasted
Preheat your outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat.
In a mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, a few drizzles of EVOO and your steak seasoning together. Divide this mixture into four sections and make four patties (make sure to press down each patty a little in the center to avoid the “burger bulge” when they grill).
Add your burger patties to the grill and begin grilling (we do about 6 minutes or so each side). About two minutes before you’re ready to remove, add your pineapple pieces to the grill and grill up both sides. We grilled the pineapple about a minute or two per side. (Just long enough to get a smokey touch and great grill marks.) About a minute before you take the burgers off of the grill, add a slice of mozzarella to each one and allow to melt.
When your patties are done, remove from the grill and assemble your burgers: grilled onion roll (or bun), cheesy patty, sliced pepperonis, grilled pineapple, pizza sauce and chopped red onion.
So many yummy flavors in one quick burger…and bonus…how easy was that recipe?!
Okay…enjoy your Tuesday! SEE YOU ON THURSDAY!

I’m crazy for Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza. I might try looking for some Canadian bacon to substitute the pepperoni. Yum! Great idea!

Ah pineapple! A staple on Aussie burgers! Just add a slice of beetroot to make really authentic lol (not for me, I love what we’d call an ‘American’ style burger with lots of oozy yellow cheese and loads of meat and peppers.)
