Ohhhhhh! I just love a Monday when we’re combining three of my favorite things: traveling with my hubby, BOSTON and Michael Buble.
It’s the perfect trifecta!
So, for those of you who have been around here for awhile then you know, I adore Michael Buble. When we first moved to Detroit, I bought one of his albums and fifteen years later, he’s still my number one guy. Andrew and I have seen him many times in Dallas, but a few tours ago, decided it would be fun to start seeing him in other venues. First, we saw him in Vegas and then, in NYC. These last few years, he hasn’t toured because his little boy was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully now, he is doing well and Buble is back out there. When he announced the new tour dates, I immediately looked so we could pick a new city for a concert. Andrew and I decided that since we saw him in New York last time, it was only fitting that we see him in Boston (or about an hour outside of Boston) this time. BUT the sweetest and nicest part was that the day before tickets went on sale, Buble’s two sisters (who I’ve become friends with) surprised me and said that they were going to get me tickets instead. How sweet is that?! They were like name the venue and you have your tickets! So, we marked our calendars and have been anxiously awaiting this date since the fall.
Just two parents of four kids at the airport on a Monday about to fly to Boston. (Psssssst: this is the sweater I told you about on Friday and it’s only $30!).
I know this is going to be hard to believe, but this was the first time EVER that my parents have stayed at my house and watched my kids. Typically, when Andrew and I go somewhere, it’s the summer or over a long weekend and my kids go to my parents’ house, but this time, it was a school week, so my mom and dad moved in for 2½ days. MY KIDS HAD THE BEST TIME!!!!! Lovie and Papa Jay knocked it out of the ballpark! They handled school, homework, speech therapy, dance, baseball, tumbling, spirit night at the local burger place, carpool and more. AMAZING!! Why did I wait 10.5 years to do this? Next time, Andrew and I will be gone for a month 😉 .
Our flight left at 12:30, so we grabbed lunch inside the airport before we took off.
Sweet little Madeley adorned by Kindle with a heart sticker 🙂 .
We arrived at 5:30, grabbed a rental car and checked into our hotel. This was the view from our hotel room. Oh Boston, I love you so much!!
We had dinner reservations in the North End (their Little Italy) and were pumped to enjoy our pasta feast!
We had reservations at Carmelina’s and I HIGHLY recommend it! This restaurant was teeny tiny, and the food was delish!!!
I love this guy so much 🙂 .
His Chicken Picatta looked great, but my supper, WON…
It was the Sunday Macaroni and included three DELICIOUS meatballs, sausage and a short rib…with marscapone cheese on top. OH MY GOSH! It was so delicious!
After dinner, we walked right across the street for dessert…
…cannoli, anyone???
YAAAAAAAAAS!!!!
Mike’s Pastry for the win!!
We went back to the hotel really full and super happy!
The next morning, we slept in, I did a little work and watched the local news while he hit the gym, then we got ready and stepped outside.
IT WAS SO WINDY!!
Hahaha! It was cold and windy, but the sun was shining and we had the best day!
For lunch, I have always wanted to take Andrew to…
…Joe’s 🙂 . I love Joe’s. We had the perfect seat where we could watch the people outside and enjoy our yummy food.
Feels like 10…with a lot of wind!
Best clam chowder. Ever.
This is like my perfect meal! Their fish sandwich is so darn tasty! I like mine grilled, and Andrew had his blackened.
Andrew had been to Boston before but never with me! After lunch, I showed him some of my favorite spots.
We stopped for Starbucks and then strolled my favorite street…Charles 🙂 .
After we walked around all afternoon, we decided to grab a snack before getting ready for the concert that night. We hit up Eataly…
Such a fun spot for a snack, right?!
And by snack, I mean this amazing meat and cheese board. Yes, ma’am!
We got ready and then left to drive to the concert which was outside of Boston in Worcester, MA.
We had dinner here at Craft before heading over to the concert.
So much fun! Our seats were amazing!
We grabbed a few pics before the show started. We were right next to the catwalk, so that made us super close to him.
Showtime! Look at all the phones! Ha!
I’ve said this every time I’ve seen him in concert, but he appears (and now that I know his sisters really well, I would imagine it’s the truth) extremely humbled and blessed that people are there. He’s funny, he’s quick witted and seems really sincere. He’s the quintessential entertainer.
I mean, how many pics of Michael Buble can I post today? Apparently, a bunch! Hahaha!
Just the most fun night!
While we were there, his assistant texted me and said she was coming to my seat. When she showed up, she had a big goodie bag filled with Buble swag including this gem…
…well, isn’t that so cool?!
After the show, we drove back to Boston and then returned home the next day in time to grab the kids from school. It was a quick trip…but so much fun! Andrew and I are already counting down to our next “adult only” trip this summer. It’s going to be EPIC! 😉

You should seriously have a meet and greet or book signing sometime when you come to Boston! Haha Everytime I see you are here I get so excited and wish I would bump into you. I love that you love Boston! It was beyond freezing those two days you were here last and week. Good for you guys walking around outside in that wind- yikes!!

Concerts are always so much fun!! It looks like you guys enjoyed Bublé!! Mike’s Pastries, especially the cannolis are my favorite!! I’ll have to try Carmelina’s next time I’m in town! Happy Monday!

I’ve seen MB in concert many times…but I’d have to say the first was the most memorable. My bestie and I saw him in Fayetteville AR(before he was Uber popular), and the next morning we saw him in our hotel as we were leaving. She grabbed him as I was pulling the car around, and we actually ate breakfast with him and hung out for a while(we even drove him to Radio Shack?). He’s a sweetheart!!! What a fun time we will never forget!❤️
Melissa says
Next time you are in the North end, skip mikes pastry. Instead go to cafe Vitoria, it’s right next door. They have the BEST dessert and coffee in town. Order the lobster tail (they have cannolis too). I swear you won’t be disappointed.
Connie says
OH my goodness! You are so lucky!! I adore him as well. Great music!
Colleen says
I noticed you changed your kindle cover form the pink one….did you find this one worked better? Is it a different brand?
Mix and Match Mama says
Exact same brand! I changed my Kindle and my new one is the new waterproof Paperwhite!
Angela Ellingson says
This is seriously a dream! I will make it to one of his shows someday! It’s just not in the budget right now. What does the note say? With all my…??
Mix and Match Mama says
love but overly exaggerated 😉
Angela Ellingson says
Ahh! Swoon. 😉
Amber Vance says
So much FUN!!
Barb says
Wow! I know we arn’t suppose to covet, but I love that you got to see Michael Buble–so exciting and all the food looked delicious–What a memorable date.
Also to sit that close to the catwalk and be able to take all those wonderful pictures.
You’d better do something wonderful for Andrew after that date.
Blessings on you!
Liz says
LOVE Buble!! This is such a silly question but what does his message say – “With all my ???” I can’t decipher the word after “my”!
Mix and Match Mama says
Love (but over exaggerated!)
Kim Fleming says
Our first concert in Detroit on Friday night! He was great, and so comforting to his audience truly like we were friends. We, however, enjoyed him from the nosebleed sections but could hear his voice beautifully. Your pics are great!

Looks like you had such a fun time!!

As chain restaurants go, Joe’s American is solid! We used to live 2 miles from one in NJ and would go all the time, I miss that bread so much!
Shaye Dodson says
My husband & I love Michael also! We have seen him several times in Houston & Dallas but we also saw him in Vegas & Bahamas! This year we bought 2 sets of tickets for his Dallas concert. Now that you have been, which ones would you recommend – 4th row from the front (on the end next to the stage/catwalk) or farther down the cat walk about 10-12 rows back (still on the end next to the stage/catwalk). We are trying to decide which ones to keep for us & which ones to sale 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh gosh! What a hard decision!! I guess I would say fourth row next to the cat walk! Enjoy!!
Beth Valenta says
This looks like a wonderful trip! I can’t wait to try La Piazza when I go this summer for some games. I never leave Fenway area most of the time.

… And Buble performs in a suit – a class act!

I know you get tons of comments, so hopefully you will see this! We are going to Boston, Nantucket and Cape Cod the last week of July. We have Red Sox/Yankee tickets for the 25th, but nothing else planned so far. What are must do’s in those 3 cities? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my goodness!! So much to say on this! Have you read my posts about our trip to Nantucket? Go back and read those along with my All About Boston post. All my best tips are there!
Mikala January says
What a FUN trip!! Hey i have a life-changing concert photography tip for you. I go to concerts a lot and this has been an awesome find! OK, so the spotlight often washes out the picture right? As you’re taking the picture, on the screen touch and hold the person’s face until the focus-lock box pops up. To the right side of the box will be a little sunshine icon. Swipe down on that icon and it will reduce the exposure, and Voila, you can see the entertainer’s handsome face!! 🙂
Carole says
How did you become friends with his sisters?
Mix and Match Mama says
The internet! Isn’t that fun?!
LAF says
I would like to know how do you convince your husband to go on trips away from the children? And take selfies? We’ve been married 19 years and have never been on even an overnight trip without our 4 kids (now teenagers).
Mix and Match Mama says
Ah! My hubby loves it! We always go places he enjoys too. Maybe your hubby should suggest a place for you two to go?
Amanda Jackson says
I have a question for you…..My husband took me to a Buble concert in Dallas about 5 years ago and I, being a big fan, LOVED it. He was incredible as were his band and the stage…all the things. My hubby, however, said he would never go again b/c he found Buble’s humor too crass (I don’t disagree with that). So my question is: do you think he’s toned that down a bit now? Did you notice? I want to go to another concert, dangit!! Ha!
Mix and Match Mama says
No, I would say it’s about the same! Hahaha! Yeah… 😉
Kayla A Bruce says
So fun! This makes me even more excited to see him (for the second time) in concert in a couple weeks just outside of Chicago!
Laura H says
I’m seeing Michael Buble in Kansas Cit on the 20th! My husband surprised me with tickets for my birthday. I can’t wait! Maybe you could
Put in a good word with his sisters for me! ?
nichole says
Ah Boston – my heart. I loved living there. You can’t ever go wrong with a cannoli from Mike’s and Joe’s is so good! Have you been to Sonsie on Newbury Street? I miss having lunch there in the summer with all the windows wide open.
Michelle says
Yay Boston! I lived there from college until just a couple of years ago. It’s the greatest place in the world! Now I live in Minnesota…which brings me to my question: can you tell me more about the coat you wore while you were there? It looks super cute from what I can see. 🙂
Shirlee says
Shay, are there any areas in Boston that should be avoided? I’m always nervous in a new city. Do you find it better to drive around or take public transportation? Also, where would you recommend to stay?
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m sure there is, but the areas that we visit always feel nice and safe. We typically walk and take the subway everywhere in Boston. This time, we rented a car because we had to drive out to the concert, but I normally do not. We like to stay in either the Beacon Hill or Copley areas in Boston. They’re both within walking distance to many things.
Jocelynn Webb says
Time away with our spouses are so important! What a fun getaway together!
Dana says
So fun! I love his music!! Just a random tip for you (and maybe you already know it)- when you want to make an accent mark on a word and you’re using an Apple product, just hold down the letter and up above it all the options will pop up, just pick which one you like. This was life changing for me since I write so often in French!
And on another note, my sister-in-law has been reading about how people get refunds from his concerts because of his ‘adult language.’ So that might be good to note for anyone thinking of going who has sensitive ears to that kind of thing. 🙂
Heather says
My husband got me tickets to his DC show (2 weeks ago) for Christmas. It was my first Buble show ever and a total bucket-list moment for me!!!!!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's Sweet World says
Your seats were IDENTICAL to ours for the Atlanta show! We were in Row R just to the left of the catwalk, too! We didn’t get the swag bag and the autograph, though. Bummer. Lol.
Chelsea says
Carmelina’s is SO GOOD – I’ve also had the Sunday Sauce there…yum!
Janie Reinert says
So cool ! What a fun getaway !!

What a fantastic holiday!! I’m so happy for you!!

How fun! My husband and I recently took a trip to Boston and I used your posts to help me plan! Thank you! I have a fun, gorgeous, breathtaking place for you to check out. We stayed in the most beautiful hotel right on the harbor called Boston Yacht Haven. It is a very small hotel, I think only 8-10 rooms. It is spectacular and we can’t wait to bring our children, the rooms are huge! Think water views out every window!

We’re planning a family trip to San Antonio this spring and curious to know the differences between the Hyatt and the JW Marriott?

Always LOVE reading your travel posts! I’m heading to Boston for the first time next month to watch my cousin run the Marathon! Any tips? 🙂 how is the weather around April?
