My kiddos requested burgers and pasta this week, so dinner will look something like this…
…maybe my Bacon & Bleu Burgers…
…and my Sweet Onion and Asparagus Pasta.
Eight years ago tomorrow (June 25), I miscarried our first baby. I think about this baby all the time…but especially this time of year. I was able to carry him or her about 9 weeks…but I know one day in Heaven, I’ll get to spend eternity getting to know this precious child of mine.
Call me a broken record…but I’m still loving my new Toms flip-flops :).
5. What I’m dreading…
Today, we have our big appointment at Children’s Medical Center with Ashby. This is the appointment we’ve been waiting on for months. Her hand doctor will come over from Scottish Rite and meet us there for the appointment. We are meeting with a hematologist, radiologist, plastic surgeon and a child psychologist all at one time (along with her hand surgeon). Children’s is requiring a psychologist be there to tell us if the treatments they are proposing are too much for her. We are excited about new information and (hopefully) a good game plan…but we’re nervous at the same time because we don’t want to interrupt the happy little life Ashby has right now with treatments.
Last year I bought a fancy Zoku Quick Pop Maker, but we did not have an easy time making them (they kept getting stuck or else wouldn’t ever harden!)…so, this year, we bought the cheap old-fashioned molds off Amazon and have been making popsicles left and right! We’re trying all sorts of fun flavors (Coconut Cream Pie was yesterday!)…look for a popsicle post soon! (These silly kids were helping me make lemon ones on Monday…lots of shenanigans!)
The other night, Smith was like, “Hey mom, did you know that I can sing all of the books of the New Testament?”. And I was like, uh, no. And so he did :). I’ve watched this video like a million times. This kid is so sweet. He said his Sunday school teacher taught him. He also told me that his legs itched and that he needed lotion after the video was over…summer chlorine problems ;).
Pajamas and swimsuits? Those are the first two things that come to mind…except probably not today to Ashby’s doctor visit…that wouldn’t be appropriate :). I just did a What I Wore post last week. You can see it all right here.
We leave for our first official family vacation of five in late July…and we are all so excited!
13. What else is new…
Yesterday, Ashby was supposed to start wearing her compression garment. We went to Dallas to try it on and begin wearing it…and yeah, that didn’t go well. The good news is that we have her big appointment today and we can discuss this situation. After two months of getting ready for this garment, it kind of all went wrong yesterday. At least now, I can check this off the “we tried it” list. Being a mama is hard! You want to do what’s best for your kiddos and sometimes…the answer isn’t always so clear.
This year, we’re going to have a full day! We have our town parade that morning, swimming and supper at my aunt’s house that afternoon and then fireworks back in our town that night. We’re planning on a big day!
That’s our Wednesday! I can’t wait to read through the link ups below and see what’s up with you today! On my foodie blog this Wednesday…
…it’s my Easy & Delicious July 4th Recipes!
Have a great day! Link up below!

First, thank you so much for this link up! It's so fun to read everyone's posts!! 🙂 Second, my heart goes out to you mama as you walk through this difficult road with having a child with medical issues. As a lady struggling with health things, I know that it is honestly most difficult on my parents and my sweet mama more than even me a lot of the time. Watching someone you love have to deal with pain is never easy. Praying for your appointment and that things go well today and in the upcoming months.
With Love, Rebecca

This post sounds like summer and a whole lot of awesome! I hope you all can get things figured out for your sweet girl during her appointment today. The Lord will work it all together beautifully one way or another! And I totally understand what it feels like to reminisce on a miscarriage; I miscarried at nine weeks with my first pregnancy too. And one of the biggest ways I coped was knowing I would get to meet my sweet baby in heaven one day and that's such a sweet promise. You sure do have a lovely family!

Prayers for you guys today. I'll be thinking about you.
June 17th was five years since I miscarried my first baby. Ever since that day, June 17th has been the hardest day of the year for me. It was the worst thing I've ever gone through, but I now truly believe that everything happens for a reason because we were blessed with a healthy baby boy shortly after that, and then a healthy girl just 16 months ago. I wouldn't want it any other way and I'm so thankful now for the way things turned out. :o)

I think Smith really looks like your hubby in the pics you posted today. Also, I need some potty training advice from all your mama readers out there, so maybe that could be one of your "Talk Amongst Yourselves" topics. Pretty please….
