We love a crispy chicken dinner around here! Besides my slow cooker, my air-fryer is my favorite gadget for getting dinner on the table quickly on busy weeknights. This recipe here is so simple, so easy to prepare, gluten-free (if you use the right breadcrumbs), perfect for families and oh so fall (thank you, maple syrup!). It only has FOUR ingredients!
Happy dinnertime!
PrintAir-Fryer Maple Mustard Crispy Chicken
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 22 minutes
- Total Time: 27 minutes
- Yield: 4 1x
Description
Maple and mustard are the perfect pair for a fall chicken dinner!
Ingredients
- about a cup or so of your favorite Italian-style breadcrumbs (we use g-free!)
- 3/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, not frozen
Instructions
- Spray the basket of your air fryer with Pam.
- In one shallow dish (like a pie plate!), add in your breadcrumbs. In a second shallow dish, stir together your mustard and maple syrup.
- Next, take each chicken breast and first, dredge each piece in the mustard maple dish and then the breadcrumbs. After that, place it in your air fryer.
- Close the air fryer drawer, set the temp to 325 degrees and the timer to 22 minutes.
- When the timer goes off, your chicken is ready to go!
Notes
This is the easiest little chicken supper! We use Aleia’s Gluten-Free Italian Breadcrumbs.

Would this work fine just using the oven?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! It won’t get quite as crispy but yes!
Casey says
How long & at what temperature would you cook it in the oven?
Mix and Match Mama says
I would do it at 350 for about 25 minutes!

Yum! will be trying this for sure. I have had my air fryer for maybe a little over a month now, and use it at least 3 times a week. Have you used your air fryer for your sausage balls? Planning to make your Maple Sausage Balls this weekend after grocery pickup and was thinking/wondering how they would do in the air fryer.
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my word! I haven’t!!!!! I bet it would be amazing though!!
Kendra says
Do you flip your chicken halfway through? This looks and sounds amazing! Indo pretty much everything in the air fryer!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do not! The basket allows the heat to go all around so no flipping is necessary!
Joyce says
How long do I cook them in the oven and temperature? I do not have an air fryer .
Mix and Match Mama says
I would do it at 350 for about 25 minutes.

Delicious! Do you have a favorite brand/model you use?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! You can read about it here: https://mixandmatchmama.com/2020/07/airfryer-review-part-2/

Does the chicken have a strong mustard taste? I was curious because I don’t like mustard. I’ve made your other air fryer chicken recipe, and my husband I love it. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t think so but you can always reduce the amount if you’re a bit concerned!
Kerry Boytell says
I have a new air fryer, and not completely OK with it yet. If I only have 2 chicken breasts, is the cooking time the same as for 4?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Same time!
sara says
What brand Dijon mustard do you use? Putting in my instacart order and Im overwhelmed with the choices! (not typically a mustard fan so never purchased it) Thanks
Mix and Match Mama says
I used to only buy Grey Poupon but now, I buy Trader Joe’s and love it!

I made this in the air fryer and my chicken didn’t come out crispy. The coating was kinda mushy. I baked it at the recommended temp for 25 minutes. I pre heated the air fryer. I temped the chicken and it was done. This was my first time using the air fryer for chicken. It tasted fine. Just not crispy. Any suggestions or tips for next time?
Mix and Match Mama says
Hmmm…I don’t preheat the air fryer (I don’t know if that affects it in any way, just an FYI). Perhaps you had too much coating on each one? Or they overlapped too much and air didn’t get to flow around evenly? Your air temp was correct, right? I’m sorry!
Nadine says
can you use recipe this with skin -on, bone- in breasts?
Mix and Match Mama says
I haven’t tried it that way, but I would imagine you totally could. If you do, please let me know what you think!

This was so incredibly yummy!
