BBQ Cider Sliders
- Prep Time: 5 minutes
- Cook Time: 8 hours
- Total Time: 8 hours 5 minutes
- Yield: 8 to 10 sliders 1x
Description
These yummy sliders are so simple because the slow cooker does all the work! Add in your chicken and by the end of the day, dinner is done.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts (not frozen)
- 1 (18 oz) bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce (we use Sweet Baby Ray’s)
- 1½ cups of apple cider
- about 2 cups of shredded slaw mix (packaged at your store)
- 1 red onion, chopped
- a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
- a big pinch of salt and pepper
- your favorite mustard (we use a spicy brown)
- your favorite buns (we use gf sliders)
Instructions
- In your slow cooker, add in your chicken, BBQ sauce and cider. Cover and cook all day on low (6 to 8 hours) or 3 hours on high.
- When you’re getting ready to serve, take the lid off of your slow cooker and shred up the chicken right there in the BBQ cider mixture using two forks. Keep the lid off and let it simmer a minute while you make your slaw.
- To make your slaw, combine your chopped red onion with your slaw mixture. Add in a big pinch of both salt and pepper and a splash of ACV. Toss and taste. You might want to add more vinegar.
- Now you assemble: bun, a bit of mustard, your shredded chicken and slaw on top.

What type of buns do you use? Our daughter has celiac also & we have struggled finding buns that we like.
Mix and Match Mama says
Trader Joe’s has g-free buns and then our local grocery store has a brand too. I cannot remember what it is off the top of my head, but it’s on the gluten-free aisle!

Can I use apple juice on this recipe?
Mix and Match Mama says

Love!, Love! these BBQ Cider Sliders!!! They are a favorite at our house. My boys request me to make them year round. Not only do we have them as sliders, but we make tacos and quesadillas with the chicken mixture. YUM! YUM!
Now about yesterday’s Pizza Meatballs. Soo Good! Another big hit. Comments from my boys, — How many did you make? –Are there anymore? — You know if you make some more we can have meatball subs. So, yes, I am making more this weekend for them to have while watching football.
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwwwwwww! Carol!! THANK YOU for sharing!!!

Just had to let you know Shay, I made more meatballs for my boys like they ask for so they could have subs for football Saturday and Sunday. Haha!!! They didn’t even give me time to remove them from the baking tray before they had their plates. I have a feeling that I am going to be making these often this fall. Have a Great weekend!

I found this recipe online, and it looked and sounded so lovely and tasty that I decided to try it out for myself. It was a huge hit with both my spouse and myself. What wonderful flavors from such a simple dish (I love those kinds of recipes), and the taste feels like something I toiled over for hours to achieve, haha. Thank you for sharing this information, it is really appreciated. Much Love From Amma Ruchis .
