Does everyone know who this pretty lady is???
It’s the beautiful Brooke Deen…wife of Food Network Star, cookbook author and restaurant owner Jamie Deen. (Whose mama is the fabulous Paula Deen!) Brooke and I have bonded over several things recently and I am so blessed to call her my friend.
I asked Brooke to share with me her favorite recipe that she makes for her family…so what did she do?
She sent me the Deen Brothers Cookbook that contained her famous meatloaf recipe (along with so many other mouth-watering recipes!).
She says this is one of her family’s favorite meals…and now, it’s one of mine too.
Shopping List
2 pounds ground beef
1 onion, chopped
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 large eggs
1 slice white bread, torn into pieces
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons packed light brown sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a large bowl, combine the first 7 ingredients. Mix well and then press the mixture into a 9×5″ loaf pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the last three ingredients to form a glaze. After 30 minutes of baking, brush some of the glaze over the top of the meatloaf. Bake for another 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes. Turn meatloaf out onto a serving platter and spoon remaining glaze over the top.

THIS IS HUGE! Brooke Dean!!!!! I knew this was happening, and I was still SO EXCITED while reading this post this morning! Their cookbook looks great (totally going to have to get it), and the meat loaf looks absolutely delish! And the coolest part, they seem like the NICEST most DOWN TO EARTH people ever! I'm totally jealous. I want to be Brooke's friend too. AND I want eat her meatloaf. I can make at least one of those things happen. 🙂

Aww, how cool! I love how they personalized the cook book with the little notes. 🙂 I'm a fan of some Deen cooking myself. Yum, yum! Thanks for sharing this. I'll be swapping out my tired old meatloaf recipe for this one.

This is awesome! Can't wait to try this recipe. My men (husband and three year old) love meatloaf. Jamie Deen's cooking show on Food Network is one of my favorites and I was so excited to hear they picked it up for a second season! Hope you're having a great week! 🙂

How cute is she?!?! My kids LOVE meatloaf, which I think is pretty funny bc when I was growing up, it was the anti-kid food. Maybe bc I put brown sugar in the glaze. I don't cook with ground meat, always replace recipes with ground turkey…this recipe sounds like it would be great with it, I'll def try it out next time. I think I need to check out that cookbook! Or better yet, you just keep trying them all out and posting about them for us! 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I've never ever made a meat loaf because they usually contain green peppers and they are not my fave. I will have to try this!
And…. I think the reason I like Brooke is the very reason I like following you. Y'all are NORMAL! "Normal" is the highest complement I can give anyone.
Thanks!

Thank you! I made a disappointing meatloaf last week and am looking forward to redeeming myself. I would be so scared to cook for my husband if his mom was Paula Deen!!! Those are some serious shoes to fill! 🙂

OH my gosh, how cool is that?! They seem like such cool people, personalizing it and stuff. I must try this out…as soon as this thing inside me decides he/she wants to eat tomatoes again, because we both know it's not really meatloaf without some ketchup glaze on top!

This looks fabulous-can't wait to try it! I did, by the way, make YOUR meatloaf recipe on Monday night and I have to say it is my FAVORITE meatloaf recipe that I have made to date by far! The husband loved it too:) Thanks again!

This is an awesome post! I LOVE the Deen's. I have that cookbook, and it has some delicious recipes. My husband and I went to Savannah last summer and ate at Lady and Son's, which was heavenly. I could have eaten about 10 bowls of banana pudding!!
What fun connections you have made through The Bachelor!

What do you usually serve as a side dish with your meals? Since you are very health conscious I would love to know your side dishes. Love your blogs !
Mix and Match Mama says
We eat a lot of green salads with our meals. We also like green beans, peas, and asparagus too.

Mmm sounds yummy! So when you made the yummy chicken tostadas do you have a salad with that also? Or do you have refried beans? It's so great to serve veggies and salad with meals like you do. It makes your kiddos grow up to love fruits and veggies! What a good momma you are!!
