Somehow our Saturday turned into a Super-sized Saturday!
First, the kids had a make up tennis lesson at 8:00 am (because it rained so much the week before), so the Shull four got up at 6:30, ate Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Pancakes (a Saturday morning tradition at our house) and hit the tennis courts by 7:55. After that, we headed home to shower and regroup before heading off to the movies…
…these two were so excited to see Monsters University (so cute by the way!!).
In the theater before it started…she was way too interested in the crowd of kids than taking pics with mom.
About 20 seconds after we got back in the car, Smith was out like a light (remember, this kid looooves his sleeping!).
Kensington was peaceful and resting up for our next stop…
We went to Cabela’s! Here’s the thing…I am the least Texas Texan you’ll ever meet. I have never owned a pair of boots, I don’t camp, I don’t shoot things, I don’t like animal heads, I don’t listen to country music, I would never two-step…I am a sorry excuse for a Lone Star resident. That being said, Andrew enjoys walking around Cabela’s and checking things out, so this time, I agreed to go (my very first time!).
Watch out Cabela’s…here I come!
And then I saw the giant banner on the side of the building…they have FUDGE! Okay…enthusiasm building. I will gladly go in any place that has fudge!
We moved sleeping Smith into a shopping cart…he never woke once.
Big fish…Cabela’s is kind of like going to the aquarium (a really small one, but there were fish, so that counts)…pretty cool so far.
Kensington and Andrew were really excited!
Smith stayed like this.
I totally need this hat. My favorite selfie ever!
Praise the Lord, we found the fudge!
A girl after my own heart 🙂
Cabela’s rocks!
And this was Smith…
Animal heads, just not my thing.
Kensington was trying to convince us that she needed a fishing pole. And a surf board. Both very unrealistic items in our world.
And Smith.
Andrew 🙂
And Cabela’s sells candles too! Seriously, why don’t I come here more often?
Smith.
This hat might be better than the first one.
At this point, we’re just walking off and leaving Smith…if someone took him, they’d bring him back once he woke up.
Ahhhhh! My happy place. After we left Cabela’s, Andrew and the kids (Smith still sleeping by the way) stayed in the car while I ran into Sephora. I have been reading about Josie Maran’s new Coconut Water Cheek Gelee and that it’s fabulous…so I bought the Pink Escape shade and love it! Great subtle color that really stays on.
And then we had dinner at Cheesecake Factory.
Lovely day.
If you want something super-sized for dinner tonight, head on over to my foodie blog and check out my Spicy Chicken Baked Tacos. So unbelievably easy and delicious!
Have a great Monday!!

I totally sympathize with Smith. I was totally like that as a kid (and, ahem, still am as an adult).
And I totally sympathize with you about Cabela's. I grew up north of the Red River, but it's not so different in OK. A family trip to Cabela's would be a first for me too. Thank you SO MUCH for letting me know they have fudge. Yet another American thing to look forward to whenever we move home!

What a fun day! Your family is too cute! Love sleeping Smith in the cart. I was the exact same when I was little. I loved my sleep 🙂
Laura says
No boots?! I'm sure this will be another Shade of Shay but what do you wear in the fall and winter? I figured with all the Michael Buble talk you probaby weren't too, too into country music lol 🙂

Love this post! Bless that little boy's heart… he is just too cute. I love walking around Cabela's with my boys… it makes my hubby!

My dad loves his cabela's shirts. They're like cardigans to Sheaffer in both color and number
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
Awwww! Sweet Smith! I can't believe he was sacked out in that hard shopping cart! And listen, I'm at Cabela's at least once a month. You get used to it. 🙂

What a fabulous family fun-filled Saturday! I wish my girl slept like sweet Smith! Kensington's romper is just the cutest! Where's it from?
Mix and Match Mama says
Her romper is Baby Gap!

I'm not a country girl either but I do kind of like Cabela's. My girls love it because they like all the big animals. That is Scott's happy place so I try to go along every once in a while.
And you need a good pair of cowboy boots!!!!! You would love them! (cute with dresses!)
Kelly says
Smith totally cracks me up. I am loving your first Cabela's outing. Next up…Bass Pro Shops!

Loved this post, your family is so adorable. I can relate, my hubby loves Cabelas and Bass Pro and I leave him in the car for Sephora runs often 😉

Again, I find so much in common with you! I am Texas born but have not/would not done/do anything you listed–except TWO STEP. I would LOVE to two step! My daughter and s-i-l are darling, expert two-steppers! And I guess you really do need some cowboy boots. The Metzgers have all four bought new, beautiful boots at a very special place in Austin.
And…the local Hallmark shop employees head for the candy counter when I come in. I LOVE, LOVE, HEART fudge. The only difference? I LOOK like I heart fudge–you don't!
Christine says
I get "dragged" to Cabela's a few times a year myself….but I also love the candles, fudge, herbal teas and flavored honeys!
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
That was a monster day!!! I love those kinds of family days. And I'm with you…I'm a proud, native Texan…but I'm not a beef-eating, gun-toting, shop-at-Cabelas kind of Texan. And the hubs is from Northern Cali, so you know he isn't either! 🙂
Tiffany says
Ha! You weren't kidding when you said Smith can really sleep. Why can't my kid do that?! We loved Monsters University as well. And yes, you get used to Cabela's; it's an acquired taste 🙂

I am laughing out loud at those pictures of your little boy. He is out like a light! Absolutely adorable!
Sarah says
oh my gosh, all those sleeping pictures of Smith were too cute/funny. My kid is WAY too nosy to sleep in public and not in a bed. I always wondering how kids just sleep in the most random places/positions. Looks like a good Saturday.
Team Seghs says
I totally feel a resonsibility to "Texan" you up a bit….

Those photos of Smith are hilarious! He is seriously the best kid ever! I can't even count the number of times I've been to Cabela's…sigh.
Leigh says
I have never heard of Cabela's, but I'm a Bama girl so that's probably why. We have Bass Pro which seems similar.
I am so jealous that Smith naps anywhere! My son refuses to sleep in the car or anywhere that's not his bed. I'm just glad he sleeps very well in his bed 🙂
LINDSAY says
So cute! I'm coming to McKinney tomorrow to visit my grandparents I can't help but think of you!! 🙂

I have lived in East Texas my entire life and don't wear cowboy boots, I don't like animal heads, have never been hunting, and am not a country music fan either! I've never been to Cabela's!
Mama L says
Fun post! You definitely get used to Cabelas after awhile :). Your kids are darling! Looks like it was a great family day. Totally surprised you don't have a pair of cowboy boots – they are so fun with skirts and dresses! I've gotten a "real" pair both times I've been to Texas as an adult and I love them.

Love your lipstick and nail polish you're wearing in the pics of you shopping… could you share the colors?!
Mix and Match Mama says
The lipstick is MAC's St. Germaine and the nail polish is some random one from Ulta…not one I normally wear but I let Kensington pick out a bright fun color.

Those tacos look mavolous!
