I heart Camo (and I’m a city girl!)

I am such a city girl.  I mean…really and truly, I am a city girl (who is married to a boy from a farm).

I grew up in Dallas, I don’t own cowboy boots, I learned to drive by locating the different malls around our metroplex, and I would never camp.  Ever.  That being said, this city girl has a new found love for camouflage.

I’ve been telling you about my new Camo Toms for about a month now.  I saw them online and pre-ordered them because oh.my.heavens. they looked fabulous!  And then they arrived last week…

…as soon as I ripped open the box and put them on my feet, I texted this picture to Sheaffer.  She had two responses…first, she said they were so cute and it was my job to educate the world on how to wear them, and second, she said she was ordering her a pair right away.

Let’s get a few things straight around here…I wear heels every day.  I am that mom.  I am the one who takes her kid to dance, goes grocery shopping, and waits in the post office line in 4 inch heels.
However, if there so rises an occasion when I need a pair of flats, I need a good pair!  I want a pair that is comfy, that looks cute, that doesn’t break the bank, that will hold up to running after my kids, walking a lot, and doesn’t look grungy after I’ve been in the rain or walking through dirt at the park…I need the perfect pair.  And I think I’ve found them.  Because of their camo print, they are going to look great even if they get a little (or a lot) dirty.  Plus, they will go with everything all year long.

Let me show you some examples of what I think would look great with my new Camo Toms

This season, I’m going to be pairing them with stripes and red accents.

I think they will look so cute with shorts, cardis and scarves.

They would look oh so cute with skinny pants and some layers.

And of course cropped jeans with a military jacket would be perfect with my Camo Toms.

Camo is the new neutral (yes, leopard is still a neutral too…camo is just the new neutral!).  I’ve been seeing camo everywhere…

I bought this pair of Camo Jeans from Gap last spring and love, love, loved them!  I was so happy to see that they brought them back this fall…

Aren’t they so cute?!?!  Click here!

And this Gap Camo Jacket is so cute too!  I tried it on in store and it was the perfect weight and fit.  Look how cute it looks with her jeans and tee!

And here are a few other cute camo options too…

These Lucky Brand flats are so cute too!

And if you need a little heel…Erika and I found these Toms that are Camo Booties.  They are really cute!!

And if you only want a little pop of camo…look at this infinity scarf!  So cute!

So that’s it…I’ve proclaimed my love of camo.  It is the updated version of a neutral.  It’s fun, it’s fall, it’s for everyone…even city girls.

Don’t forget, this Friday will be our Pin-spired Linky Party!

Today…it’s Mix and Match Mama’s 2nd Blog Birthday!  And I’m giving away a $100 Williams-Sonoma gift card to celebrate!

Yes. You must educate the world. When I read that you were going to be styling them with stripes and red accents, I literally thought "GENIUS!" The pictures really don't do those camo TOMS justice. They are SO FLIPPING CUTE! And that camo jacket? I'm dying over it. Dying.

You are personally responsible for turning me on to camo. I'm going to pull the trigger soon. SO cute!

Question on the TOMS….I really want to purchase a pair, do you wear them withOUT socks? I know this is a little TMI but do your feet get sweaty? Thanks!

    • Natalie Stephens August 28, 2013 at 3:08 pm

I worried about the same thing! Put a little baby powder in your TOMS and problem solved!

  • Megan August 28, 2013 at 12:21 pm

Sorry, just doesn't do it for me at all. I live in the country and camo is reserved for rednecks and hunters. It actually is a piece of clothing that states that. I love your style and choices USUALLY (lol) burt this one is just a big miss.

  • Mix and Match Mama August 28, 2013 at 12:23 pm

Yes, you wear them without socks! Just don't smell them and you should be fine ;).

  • Kim August 28, 2013 at 12:29 pm

Thanks for the giveaway.. Camo is a great look this fall and winter, totally into it. Ha!

Gals, get some no show socks for your Toms! Keeps them fresh and clean. You can just google "no show socks for Toms" and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I love the Camo TOMS. I might have to buy myself a pair. I basically live in TOMS anyway. Loving the outfits too!

  • Leslie August 28, 2013 at 2:10 pm

I'm considering those camo pants from gap!! What other options would you do for a top? Grey or navy? Do you think burnt orange would be crazy?

  • Kim Kauffman August 28, 2013 at 2:15 pm

I've never owned a pair of TOMS (I am also a heel girl although I've had to kind of change my ways since the kids have been born) but those are so stinking cute. You girls are going to break the bank…I swear I buy everything Sheaffer posts (I just ordered the black jacket) and now you too! My poor husband. Anyway, they look SO adorable on you!

I picked up some camo flats on clearance from Target recently and I love them! They are such a neutral! I have paired them with dress pants, shorts, jeans, etc. I can't wait to see what else they will go with in the Fall and Winter šŸ™‚

You make a good case for the camo Toms, but living in a military town with a ridiculous amount of camo, I'm not sure I could pull it off! šŸ˜‰

I had to share this with you! I heard you can unlock the pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks if you say a code to your barista! http://queenbeecoupons.com/starbucks-pumpkin-spice-latte-returns-early-with-special-promo-code/

I have to agree with the previous poster. I'm from CO and I only see camo on my brothers and their friends, when they go hunting…and I'm already sick of it. And I live close to the first Cabela's in the Denver metro area. šŸ˜‰

TOMS are my favorite! I love the camo.

  • Liz/happymommy August 28, 2013 at 6:10 pm

Oh those Camo Toms are just the cutest ever and that camo jacket…I almost died!

  • Little Pink Rose August 28, 2013 at 7:06 pm

Happy Birthday to your blog!!! I am so thankful for your blog and the joy it brings to all your readers!

  • Angie August 28, 2013 at 9:08 pm

I love camo but I'm from the country so it's a given that I would. I seriously want that Gap Jacket though. It's awesome!!!

  • Lori August 28, 2013 at 10:06 pm

Just ordered the camo jeans from Gap – so excited!

  • Leigh August 29, 2013 at 2:34 am

I grew up in the country but I am such a city girl. I don't own cowboy boots, I will never go camping, fishing or hunting, and I detest bugs. I am so accustomed to seeing camo on country boys that I have never been interested in wearing it. Until now. You and Sheaffer make it look girly and cute. Oh my. I am considering purchasing camo….

  • Kelly Stamps August 29, 2013 at 6:48 pm

I'm dying!!!!!! I'm catching up on your posts –

My aunt gave me all these perfume samples from sephora that she has been collecting (she's a sephora junkie) and my very favorite that I have worn all summer is flowerbomb and I had just decided I was going to buy some. I had never even heard of it before.

And I just bought those camo jeans from Gap. I'm not a country girl although I LOVE cowboy boots. Scott is such a country boy but thankfully he hates camping as much as I do. But I do think a little touch of camo is cute!

You're officially responsible for my first Toms purchase! I'm on vacation in San Antonio, found the nearest Nordstrom & scooped them up! Can't wait to wear them back in Va Beach!
