It’s my favorite time of year…
Pumpkin is the star of fall which is good because I’m pumpkin obsessed! From breakfast to desserts and even soups and entrees too…pumpkin will shine this fall in my kitchen!
Pumpkin Chocolate Brownies are made from scratch and they’re so simple, so decadent and so special for an autumn dessert.
So, what should you stock up on the next time you’re at the grocery store? Here are my pantry suggestions…
1. A new box of baking soda. When was the last time you changed yours out? Don’t remember…change it! I change mine at the beginning of fall and the beginning of spring. Buy a box next time you’re at the market.
2. Cake mixes…you should have at least one yellow and one spice cake mix in your pantry this fall. They work perfectly for cakes, cupcakes, cobblers, crisps, muffins and cookies.
3. Apple pie filling. I love apple pie filling for cobblers and turnovers. Plus, it’s great stirred into oatmeal too.
4. Can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling!)…basic Libby’s canned pumpkin. Buy a lot of that stuff! I make pasta dishes with it, desserts with it, even pancakes with it. It’s fall…you should buy it in bulk!
5. Refrigerated pie crusts. I love having these on hand for quick desserts or quiches. They’re easy to work with and yummy too.
6. Cinnamon! When was the last time you replaced your bottle of cinnamon? Do so now. Cinnamon sprinkled on anything is yummy. Buy yourself a new bottle for the freshest taste.
7. You need several cans of cream of chicken/mushroom soup too. Casseroles and soups are perfect in the fall with a little cream of something in them. My friends and I joke that you know it’s fall when there are 4 cans in your cart every time you visit the grocery store!
8. Slow cooker liners are a lifesaver! You can find them right on the foil/baggie aisle of your grocery store. Once you try using them, you will not go back! (Go ahead and buy two boxes!)
9. Graham crackers, chocolate bars, marshmallows…need I say more?
School is starting, Labor Day is approaching…it’s time to think about Fall you guys!
And PS: I don’t like the word y’all (which is shocking considering that I’m a Texan!) but I felt I needed it in today’s title…perhaps the first time in 6 years I’ve ever used that word on my blog :).
I’ll just go ahead and use it twice…
Happy Fall Y’all!

Ooo the decadence of those chocolate pumpkin brownies!! Must make!
Where I live we tend to fall out of Summer weather straight into Winter…makes the Winter feel soooo long! So I've found it helps me to mentally 'plan' a Fall season…3 months where I embrace all things Fall, from decor to food, and it makes the long Winter so much more bearable!
Thanks for all the inspiration, Shay!

My word, I'm so ready!!!
My Crock Pot crashed to the floor this summer in to a bazillion pieces. Time to replace it. Soon!
Question. Last week in Andrew's Q&A, he mentioned eating 6-7 meals a day that were pretty much all lean protein. Does he eat all this yumminess you cook? I know both of you are avid exercisers too.
Oh, and to guarantee a hot spell in the Metroplex area in late September, I'm heading there to visit my BFF. Every time I go there is an unexpected heat wave. So, sorry in advance.

I am actually not a big fan of the crock pot liners. The tip I use for easy clean up is spraying it with Pam before I add my ingredients. Also, you should check out thepioneer woman's chicken tortillas soup. It's really good and I cook it in the slow cooker. I just throw everything in the pot. I can't wait for fall!

I may cry because you have the exact same friendly village dishes as my mom. Those are the dishes I grew up using and I feel nostalgic every time I see them. My parents still use them every day 😉

How did I not know about crock pot liners?????? Must buy some immediately! I don't use the word y'all either and I'm from Alabama. No one in my family uses it.
All of your recipes look so good! I may have to make some for me and the hubby sometime. My son is allergic to a ridiculous amount of foods so he really can't have any of it. :(. We all typically eat the same thing but me and the Mr really miss "normal" food!

Just want to "thumbs up" your comment about the slow cooker liners.I LOVE to cook with a slow cooker but sometimes would choose not to because I hated cleaning out that "big ole thing". Someone introduced me the liners and oh my goodness, They are so wonderful! Cant say enough about them. If you don't have any RUN get some. My favorite are sold at Bed Bath and Beyond in the small appliance section. They fit the pot perfectly!
