Meal Planning Monday #1

So, here’s how it’s going to work…every Monday, I will give you a suggested menu for the week.  I will provide you with 5 entrees, 1 bundt cake suggestion, 1 other dessert suggestion and a bonus recipe (appetizer, brunch or lunch idea).  I’m going to try and keep things simple, quick, easy and always seasonal.  Of course, I’ll repeat recipes because that’s what we moms do…we repeat the things we know our family loves.
My goal is to get dinner on your family’s table fast every night.  Love you all!
Day 1: BBQ Apple Chicken Sandwiches (in the slow cooker!)
You should double the chicken in this recipe and make twice as much (make 2 to 3 pounds instead) for Day 3.  Just shred up the extra chicken and put it in the fridge until Day 3, then proceed with your sandwiches from there.

Pick up 2/3 to 1 pound of Provolone cheese and use some for this recipe and save some for Day 5’s recipe.  Also, you’ll use Parmesan cheese in both recipes too…just save the extra for Day 5.  If you have any leftovers after this meal, save them to be a side dish with Day 5 as well.

Use your leftover chicken from Day 1 in your tacos for the night.
Day 4: Mexican Risotto (it can be vegetarian or not!)
This meal is really versatile!  You can make it per the directions as a meatless dish or you could serve it alongside a baked chicken or grilled steak…or you could simply add in some ground beef seasoned with a tablespoon of taco seasoning or shredded chicken too.  Very versatile!
Day 5: Provolone Stuffed Meatballs (this is a One Pound Meal!)
This recipe is a One Pound meal (meaning you can use beef, chicken or turkey in it).  Don’t forget to use up your Provolone and Parmesan from Day 2.  If you don’t want to serve your meatballs with pasta, you can simply eat them by themselves with a big green salad.
Bundt Cake of the Week
#57: Apple Butterscotch will make you celebrate September and all of its apple goodness!
Dessert of the Week
Bonus Recipe of the Week
Moose Munch is perfect for snackin’ while watching football!
Have a great week everyone!!

Seriously….this has just "saved" my fall! As much as I love cooking, I hate planning meals!

  • aprilparrish September 2, 2013 at 12:58 pm

Great ideas for cooking this week! Thanks for sharing!

  • Stacy September 2, 2013 at 2:03 pm

I love how you say your goal is to "get dinner on your family's table fast every night." As a dietitian who helps folks have a better relationship with food, eating dinner at home is an important step of the process. Thank you for all you are doing with your little (but big!) voice in this world šŸ™‚

  • Rob & Michelle Eberly Family September 2, 2013 at 2:56 pm

More veggie meals please! This meal planning is a great idea so thanks for sharing.

  • Aubrey September 2, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Love this new weekly addition! You and I plan our weekly menus exactly the same way.

But this week I'm cheating a bit. It's Kate's first day of school plus Ella's birthday on Friday plus I'm nine months pregnant, so mama needs a BREAK. Tomorrow five new recipes plus ingredients (from many of the very same suppliers that stock the Queen's kitchen cupboards!) will be delivered to my door in a cold box. How cool is that?!

These looks amazing!! I think I already repinned several of these before I got to the blog post. Thanks for this series! I have a feeling it will come in very handy for me this fall! Happy Labor Day! šŸ™‚

I am in love! Thank you so much for your ideas! They seem to be easy to tweak for Gluten Free or Dairy Free recipes as well. I always like to plan to use ingredients several times throughout the week for easy prep and saving money!

Great minds must think alike. We spent the weekend with friends at their farm and the other wives convinced me to start sharing meal plans on my little blog. Today was my first "Menu Monday" too. Ha! Maybe we should start a Menu Planning Monday Link Up.

Glad to see you're sharing weekly menus as well. We all need all of the inspiration we can get!
