To show you how versatile my boyfriend jeans are, I wore the same jeans with 9 different pairs of shoes out of my own closet. Do you see? From flats to pumps to booties, Toms and wedges, I wear them with everything!
Grey Booties (like), Black Booties, Leopard Flats,
Brown Wedges, Leopard Pumps (like), Camo Toms,
Leopard Booties (like), Brown Wedge Sandal (like), Platform Pumps (like)
And then there are the famous Gap Boyfriend Jeans…
…they are priced well, come in multiple colors and styles (even cords!), they fit great…they are perfect. I own several pair. Trust me, you cannot go wrong with Gap’s take on the boyfriend jean!

Rules for Boyfriend Jeans
1. Even though they don’t fit snug in the butt and thighs, they should still fit. Wearing a pair of your old “fat” jeans when you’re not that size anymore does not constitute boyfriend jeans. Your waist size will remain the same when ordering them, they’ll just have a looser fit.
2. I love pairing something sharp with my destructed ones. You’re kind of cool with holes in your jeans but you’re pulled together with a fitted tee and knit jacket up top.
Like, yesterday’s Pin-spired post…
Destructed boyfriend jeans with a tweed jacket…classic (in a cool/fresh kind of way).
3. They’re relaxed pants…be relaxed and confident when wearing them!
So there you have it…my first love are shorts but my second love are my boyfriend jeans. You should try a pair…trust me, you’ll love them too.
Next week, Fifty Two Shades of Shay: How I write out my grocery list :).
XOXO

SHAY! Let me say that again. SHAY! This post is total genius. That collage of you in your jeans with 9 different pairs of shoes? GENIUS! You are totally on to something with this. And just like the colored short shorts are your signature style for summer, boyfriend jeans are totally your signature style for fall! LOVED this post!

Your collage of the boyfriend jeans and different shoes is so so so helpful! Love it.

I swore I would never cheat on my Jcrew matchstick jeans, but now you've got me tempted! You're sending me straight to the outlets today to try on my first pair of boyfriends!

This is why I love your blog! Must get some boyfriend jeans asap. I also just started the GLO whitener from Sephora and love, love it so thanks for that recommendation 🙂
Have a blessed day!

I can not bring myself to jump on the boyfriend band wagon (or camo yet either). Those jeans look AMAZING on you, all of them. It's disgusting really 😉 But they don't look as good on the models. That is how I fear they would look on me! Maybe some day!!
{Jessica} says
Love, love, love the last pair of boyfriend jeans in the last collage. The dark ones with no distressing (paired with the striped sweater and leopard scarf). Please tell me you are going to share where we can find those? I need some boyfriends!!!
Erin says
Kind of a silly question, but how many times do you roll your boyfriend jeans to make the cuff? I play around with mine but can't get it quite "right". Any tips? 🙂
V @ X-tremely V says
I never thought I had the right body shape (a little curvy) to wear boyfriend jeans, but now that I know the "rules" I will be checking them out again! Thanks Shay 🙂

I was looking at boyfriend jeans yesterday and decided to wait on them. Well right after I read your post I ordered them! You convinced me!
Slice of Life says
I think you've made me see that boyfriend jeans can really be pulled off while still looking like an adult! And I have to say.. I'm so excited for next weeks 52 shades on the grocery list topic! Have a great day 🙂

I love the look, but I am so short that I feel like, they would make my legs look even shorter!
Hmm…. Might have to try these out!

It's helpful to see all the different ways you rock your boyfriend jeans! Unfortunately, for those of us that live in a place with a true winter, cold temps, and snow, rolling up our jeans and leaving our ankles exposed isn't practical! So this look would only work for transitioning in fall and spring. The upside is that we can rock lots of layers in the winter without sweating! 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I just roll mine twice. Once to make the hem face up and then a second time after that. Don't over think it! 🙂

Okay, I just left a comment and I'm not sure that it went through because I wasn't logged in.
Anyway… love the boyfriend jeans for summer and fall. And love those adorable leopard booties. I think I'm saying that for the fiftieth time. But I do love them!
Blue-Eyed Bride says
I lived in my boyfriend jeans all summer. (I'm not a shorts fan for me.) And love the boyfriend jeans for fall wear, too! But girl. I tell you this all the time. But those leopard booties? Gah! So cute!

So cute! Tried for 20 minutes to use the coupon code on Gap today to get those jeans, but apparently you can't use it for jeans and they make it very confusing and unclear that that's the case. Oh well! I might try for the Nordy's pair! 🙂
Jessica @ Wonder Whats Next says
Hi, Shay! I love this post. I had a great pair of boyfriend jeans a while back that I would wear rolled up with flip flops. Perfect! Lately, I'm really loving the look with wedges or booties. But here's my question — when it's cold, how do you keep warm with the ankle peeking out? I mean, this is Texas, so it never gets too cold, but at the least, how do you keep from feeling like you're showing too much skin in the cooler fall/winter months when everyone else is covered? I hope that makes sense!
Mix and Match Mama says
If it's too cold, then don't wear the boyfriend jeans :). When it's really, really cold and I need to warm up, I wear my skinny jeans tucked into tall boots. You just have to decide what temps works best for you!
Katy_Potaty says
Oh my goodness, all my life I've been a skinny-jean addict, and I can't wait to try boyfriend jeans now!
Thanks for walking me through!
Leigh says
You look adorable in those jeans. But then again, you always look good. I've been skeptical about boyfriend jeans because I am curvy and when things get too loose, it's just bad, but I'm going to try them again. It's still too warm in Nashville for boots so these things look like a good transition piece.

I found your blog this summer and love it! Thanks for all the fun ideas and I love how you coordinate your outfits! Do you think you could do a post on how to tie a scarf? I see so many cute ones in your pictures and have no idea how to do that. Thanks! Happy Fall!
The Richardson's says
Thanks for all your creative outfit combinations…love, love, love! I was wondering if you could do a little "scarf" tutorial on one of your posts. I see all these cute ones that you wear but I have no idea how to tie them to look like that. Happy Fall!
Jenna {Real Simple Girl} says
I just bought my first pair of boyfriend jeans a couple weeks ago from Gap and I love them! I wasn't sure if just any shoe would work with them, so I'm glad to see your collage because now I know I have some options! Thanks for a great post! 🙂
Tiffany {A Touch of Grace} says
I love the shoe collage! Fabulous! I have the Kut jeans and wore them constantly this summer. I love a good boyfriend jean and am so glad I discovered them this year.
Meghan says
I love how cute these look with all the shoes – great idea to showcase them in that collage style. I am short (5'2") and the one time I tried boyfriend jeans I felt like they really made me look short. Maybe I'll wear booties the next time I try them. Thanks for the inspiration!
Michelle Bradley says
Hey shay I have the white jean shorts that you have from gap in size 00 do the boyfriend jeans run similar sizing? Would I get a 00 or should I size up? Thanks !
Mix and Match Mama says
I would not go up a size in the boyfriend jeans!
