This is the perfect supper solution for busy weeknights! My kids love this recipe because it tastes like an upside down pizza and I love it because it’s easy!
I made our casserole with ground turkey but you can absolutely substitute with ground beef instead. Simple and quick…the perfect dinner for this time of year!
This recipe is for an 8×8 inch baking dish to feed 4 adults but you can easily double it and prepare your casserole in a 9×13 to feed more people.
Shopping List
1 pound ground turkey (or ground beef or ground chicken)
2 (14 oz) bottles of pizza sauce
1 cup of pepperoni slices (I used turkey pepperoni)
1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 can of pizza dough crust (13 oz) found in the freezer section next to the crescent rolls and canned biscuits
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
Salt and Pepper
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown your ground turkey in a little bit of EVOO. Sprinkle in some S&P. When your turkey is brown and crumbly, reduce the heat to low and stir in your pizza sauce and pepperoni.
In a greased (I used Pam) 8×8 inch baking dish, spread your ground turkey mixture across the bottom. Sprinkle your cheese on top. Unroll your canned pizza crust and lay it flat across the top of your baking dish. Drizzle just a little bit of EVOO over the top of the crust.
Bake about 20 to 25 minutes or until the crust is nice and brown. Remove from oven and let sit 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
An upside down pizza…it really doesn’t get more fun than that!

This looks yummy! I recently discovered your blog and have made two of your bundt cakes, three casseroles, the pumpkin pancakes and passed out the Halloween Popcorn as treats for my kids' teachers and hubby's co-workers.
It's gotten to the point where my husband will say, "is this a new recipe from that blog girl?" -ha! They've all been delish and a big hit with my party of 5 so I am thankful to have found your little slice of internet inspiration.

My mother-in-law has made this recipe for as long as I can remember! A few differences we have are that we soften onions in with the meat before adding the sauce, and then we also dollop and spread a thin layer of sour cream on the meat before adding the cheese layer. Delicious!
