Happy Pin-spired Monday!!
Mel, Sheaffer and I are showing you how Pinterest is helping us get dressed this month! If you missed my post on Friday where I shop with Sheaffer, you need to read that one too (click here)! I found lots of July inspiration out shopping…
…pics from my Shopping with Sheaffer and Shay: Virtual Edition!
So…it’s July. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, July is my least favorite month to get dressed.
This is all I wear in July…
That being said, I don’t look nearly as fabulous as the ladies above in either, so I’ll spare you a post full of pj and swimsuit pics.
I’m taking this hot and humid month of July and forcing myself out of my pjs, out of my swimsuits and into real clothes. Here we go…I’m gettin’ all Pin-spired…
Look #1: The Summer Scarf…
I like to wear light, summery scarves this time of year because it’s an instant pop to a boring old tank or tee (which is pretty much all I wear during the summer). I love how the three basic white tees above instantly become more put together with just a scarf.
All I’m wearing is just two tank tops layered and my fun bright scarf. Easy, easy!
My shorts are from Gap about 4 years ago and my tanks are just the basic Gap tanks (click here for solids and here for stripes). As for my scarf, I bought it in a boutique several years ago but I found these light and floral scarves that would also work…
And now that I’ve found my very favorite scarf in the whole wide world, it’s even easier for me to repeat this look all month long…
Speaking of my very favorite scarf in the whole wide world…
…Sheaffer came over on Friday afternoon and I was wearing one…and she absolutely loved it so much that we went into my closet and both started trying them on together.
By the time she left, she was convinced that she needed several of them herself (I’m pretty convinced that I need all 26 colors!). She said she agreed with me…they’re light yet perfect not just for summer but to layer in the fall/winter, they style themselves so easily and the fabric is just yummy. That’s right, we said yummy.
Considering they’re 2 for $38, you need at least two of them…and then get some to set aside for Christmas gifts too. Love them. We. Love. Them.
(The colors I bought, featured above, are Blue Denim, Khaki and Red Pop.)
Look #2: Boyfriend Shirts with Shorts…
This is such a staple look in my wardrobe. I love these boyfriend shirts because I can make them work year around and they go perfectly with my shorts.
Easy, easy. My boyfriend shirt (like item), my denim shorts and my sandals (like item). Easy, easy :).
So easy, that a few days later I repeated the whole look but this time, with my green boyfriend shirt :).
Look #3: Navy & Green…
I love, love, love me some navy and green paired together. It just makes me happy. When I found this navy shirt, I knew it would look really cute with the green skirt I already had hanging in my closet. I also think it will look cute paired with shorts or a jacket and jeans in the fall. Love.
And if navy isn’t your color, my cute shirt also comes in three other colors too :).
Happy July to you!!
Tomorrow, I’m sharing my July goals and then on Wednesday, it’s 52 Shades of Shay: Building a House.
And don’t forget, it’s Meal Planning Monday today! And if you’re looking for a lot of Red, White and Blue recipe inspiration for your week, I have that too. Just click here!

Yes. Let's talk about the scarf. I had heard you talk about the scarf and sing it's praises, and I thought it was seriously cute……but then I touched it….and then I put it on for myself……AND HOLY SCARF!
It's amazing! GIRLS! LISTEN UP! BUY THE SCARF! BUY LOTS AND LOTS OF SCARVES! I'm buying 2 today. And that's me restraining myself. LOVE! THIS! SCARF!

I went to Nordstrom to see those scarves after your Friday post and you are right – they are the softest scarves ever. I walked out of there with 6 (I did get a scarf or two for my daughter so while that is insane, it's maybe 10% less insane because I am sharing, right?) and will definitely buy more colors. These are the first infinity scarves I have purchased because I kept telling myself the traditional scarves have more versatility to them. I was wrong. who cares about tying them 6 bazillion different ways when these are just so easy to wear.
One question for you though. In the picture with the green tank, is that scarf khaki?

Love your outfits – the navy and green is so cute!! I love the scarf idea, but I seriously don't know that I can do scarves in summer b/c of the heat. We tend to have really humid weather and I'm not sure I could pull off even the lightest weight scarf. How do you pull it off without burning up?

I'm totally with you on all 3 of these looks! Great inspiration, thanks for hosting! http://morepiecesofme.com

Where are you light tan wedges from in the first picture with the scarf?! I am looking for some neutral wedges!

Shay love all these looks, but i have to ask, how can you possibly wear a scarf during the summer? I know you said it's light, but it is just too hot and humid to have all that material around the neck.

Loving the navy and green!

Oh goodness! So many great questions today!! Let me answer as many as I can:
1. Scarves are just accessories (like a necklace). I live in North Texas where it's hot and humid almost half the year and they still work. Think of them as an accessory!
2. The tan wedges in the first pic are 3 seasons old from Steve Madden.
3. You have to wear a scarf with some volume to make them look their best. If they have volume (due to the type of fabric), they kind of just style themselves!
Have a great day!!

Super cute! Love the pajamas and swimsuit confession. That's my idea of the perfect summer! And speaking of perfect summer, it has actually been warm enough here to wear shorts this year! I stand out like a sore thumb (the only Brits wearing shorts are 16 years old — no one else would dream of it) but sometimes it's fun to flaunt my American-ness! 😉

Hi Shay! What color is the scarf you are wearing with the green top/tank and jeans? Perfect timing for my friends birthday. One for me and one for her! 🙂

I always find scarves too hot to wear in summer. So humid I can't deal with it. But they instantly finish an outfit so I should really just try it more often.
