Going to the State Fair of Texas is an epic event. The Fair comes each year with a HUGE bang and never disappoints. If you’re a Texan, you might not agree on your favorite Tex-Mex joint, who your favorite college team is or if boots are considered dressy attire or not…but you do agree that the State Fair of Texas is king and should be revered.
Walking into the Fair! We took the kids out of school one hour early and arrived right at 3:00 to meet Papa Jay and Lovie. This was the warmest Fair I can remember. If it had been about 20 degrees cooler, I would have called it perfection ;).
Ready to head inside!
My peeps
My other peeps!
With Big Tex…who says “Howdy Folks” when you walk by :).
She acted bored in the car show until she saw this red, convertible Mustang…and then she was totally interested in cars. Lord, help me now.
He says he wants a Jeep…Andrew is thankful he knows a great insurance agent to cover these kids when they drive ;).
Our dog is a Coton de Tulear and I never, ever see anything with that breed written on it, so I snapped a picture for the occasion. I showed Poppy, she wasn’t impressed.
I love this boy even if he’s wearing a Yankees hat.
Other than Big Tex, the star of the State Fair of Texas is the Fletcher’s Corny Dog. Smith and I were super excited to eat ours! (How big does he look here?!?! Where did my baby go????)
They listened to Mother Goose tell stories…
…and then we went to the petting zoo to feed the animals.
This girl was so pooped after all of the fun, that she laid down on the sidewalk and ate some cotton candy.
Next, they wanted to ride the Halloween ride…my mom and I knew those happy faces wouldn’t stay happy. They went in all excited…
…and came out crying. We tried to warn them. (It was a kids’ ride but we knew they wouldn’t care for all of the Halloween-ness of it!)
Next up, bumper cars!
Their favorite ride was this little boat ride that went round and round.
I love those faces!
After the rides, we played some games and Smith Shull dominated!
It’s hard to tell in this picture but this particular ride blows “snow” at the crowd. Kensington is dancing in the snow and Smith is blowing his horn.
They always love the big slide! Kensington rode with Andrew and Smith rode with Papa Jay.
More games! Smith was really focused!
Of course when he won, he picked the big orange snake as his prize.
He was so proud of all of his loot!
Leaving the Fair…can you tell we had the best time?

My Mother-in-Law lives in Rowlett and we had been planning to come out and vist so that we could take Parker to the fair. We just couldn't get our schedule to work so we were unable to make it. It looks like the kids had a wonderful time.

So much fun! Our state fair is held in August every year, while the weather is still good, and it's one of our favorite things to do! Loved all your pictures.

Looks like a perfect day…we love the fair too! My tip is to try the train…it drops you at the front gate, and you don't have to walk and park!!

What a great day! Is it okay that I sort of chuckled when I saw the picture of the kids coming out of the Halloween ride? What a perfect shot. What a great day with the family. Smith rocks at the games, he needs to do a post about his secrets on winning fair games, LOL.

Completely unrelated to the fair.
Nordstrom is several hundred miles from me. 🙁 So I went to order boots today and thought, hmm I wonder what Zappos price is. Well it was the same, but no tax! That saved me almost $15! (the boots were stupid expensive…so saving $15 made me feel a bit better) anyhoo. Something for you and your readers to think about. 🙂
