5 Days of Fabulous: December Goals & Wellies!


Are you ready?  Are you sitting down?  Are you excited?  Because we are!!!!!!!!
Sheaffer and I have been working on our 5 Days of Fabulous since June and we are so beyond thrilled to share it with you!  Every day this week, we are giving away one fabulous item to you and then four more for you to share with your friends or family!  That’s right, one winner will receive 5 prizes!  And they’re not just kind of good prizes…they are FABULOUS prizes!
We really should have been Santa.  Or Oprah.  We just love this gift giving so much!
We’re kicking off our week by giving away one of these for you and then you get four more pairs to giveaway to your best girlfriends/daughters/sisters/mom/whoever!  Here we go…prize number one is…
…Hunter Wellies!!!!
You know how we love our Hunter Wellington Boots around here!  They’re not just rain boots, they’re perfect for cold weather too!  We love them so much and we want you (and your friends) to have a pair too!
‘Tis the season for Wellies!!

Now, it wouldn’t be the first of the month without my sharing my goals with you…
…I really want to keep things simple this month.  This month is about being with the ones you love most, and like many of you, my plate is already pretty full…so my goals this month are more simple (and yet one is pretty exciting!)…
1. Remember to move our elf around
Listen, this needs to be a goal for me.  I’m really good at remembering to move that silly elf the first four or five days but then after that…I’m usually really forgetful.  Last year, I documented where we put him and will probably do it again this year (and there will be some overlap of ideas too).  The goal here is just not to forget (I think I’ll set a reminder alarm on my phone…).
2. Watch a lot of Christmas movies
I love Christmas movies.  The cheesier the better in my opinion (and if they burst into song and dance, I’m particularly in love).  If they have Jude Law in them, I’m sold for life.  My kiddos are into this tradition too, so I’m planning on lots of pj, cocoa and movie nights this month!  To see a list of my favorite Christmas movies, click here.
3. Clean out play room toys
Yikes!  This was on my monthly goals last month and I never got around to it!  Before Santa comes, I like to do a good purge of toys my kids don’t play with and then donate them.  I always feel better as they’re receiving gifts this season if I know we’ve already donated what we aren’t using and made room for the new.
4. Collect and deliver food to the food pantry
Each year at my annual recipe exchange party, my guests bring bags and bags of canned goods for me to donate to the local food pantry.  I love taking my kids to do this (and I also love combining a good party with a good cause).
5. Slow down and enjoy this season
My goal is to not rush through the holidays with a big to-do list.  My kiddos won’t be this age forever, so I need to soak it in and enjoy every minute.  They are so precious, so innocent, so sweet and they believe with all of their heart…I don’t want to rush through a minute of this magical time in their lives.
6. Plan out Smith’s 5th birthday
My baby will be five in January (insert me sobbing here).  I can hardly stand it!  I can’t wait until after the holidays to start planning his big day, so I need to do that now.  Nothing like a January baby to keep you in the party planning spirit!
7. Become a mom to three!!!
That’s right!  I’m having a baby this month!  I am beyond excited.  Really and truly, I’m not sure if I’ve ever been this excited about something.  I feel like I’ve been pregnant for 18 months ;).  Okay…I’m not physically having a baby but we are adopting a new baby into our family and I cannot wait to meet her.  I’ve only seen 3 pictures of this little girl…three pictures is all I’ve clung to for the last year…and now, I get to meet her.  I get to hold her.  I get to bring her home and be her mom.  Forever.  What a way to end a year :).
And really fast, here is how I did on my November Goals…
1. I read my books!  I reviewed them all right here.  Right now, I’m finishing up my friend Trista Sutter’s book Happily Ever After.  I read it earlier this year and am re-reading it again right now.  It’s about the life changing power of  a grateful heart…and I don’t think there is any better time of year to remember that than now.  This book would make great stocking stuffers and gifts for women in your life. 
2. Okay…this didn’t happen.  I still have gifts to wrap.  I have it under control and most are done but there are still a few left.
3. Done!  Done!  Done!  Whew!  It’s good to be done with addressing Christmas cards!
4. I didn’t clean out the toy room…see goal #3 for this month.  #monthlygoalfail
5. Our house is all decked out for Christmas and tomorrow, I’m going to give you my holiday home tour!  Come back to see the pics!
6. I actually got a little more sleep this month.  Thanks to Saturday mornings, a trip to Missouri and Thanksgiving’s long weekend, I got a few more zzzs.
7. We have been walking to and from school more and we’re walking around at night to see our neighborhood decked for the holidays.  We love to bundle up and look at twinkle lights.

These treats look fancy but they are so simple to make!  I promise, take these to your next holiday fete and people will think you slaved all day.  Plus, they’re super delicious too!
