Well, since January is more than half-way over, I thought I’d just do a few goals for the year instead of the month (because let’s face it…recover from jet lag is my only goal right now for January).
I saw this on Pinterest and thought to myself…wow, that’s exactly what I want for 2015…
Yup. That’s it. This sums it up for me in 2015. I’m going to try to do all of the above but more than anything, I’m just going to try and do my best.
My theme for 2015…be less busy. Life is so short and I don’t want it to rush by in a blur of busyness.
Here are a few other quotes from Pinterest that are encouraging me this 2015…
What were your goals for the year? I’d love to know!! Comment below and share!
And don’t forget, on my foodie blog today is this…
…my Cherry Berry Cobbler that I just cannot stop making! My family keeps requesting it and because it’s so simple, I keep making it. It’s perfect for your winter night.

Yes to all of this. Especially to the cobbler. 🙂

So ironic, your post today. My friend and I follow you, and after reading your post yesterday – we were talking about it and got on the topic of how you seem so incredibly busy and involved and how your day seems very maxed out. Not in a bad way! – it just does though. We even referred back to your 'how to say no post' when we were talking lol! Too funny.

Great goals! Also, that cherry cobbler. Oh my word!! Looks amazing!!

Yesterday my goal was put away ALL that laundry. That was a big goal and I accomplished it. Today…I probably need to rest. HahAhaha!

Love these words of encouragement! This is just what I needed this morning!

I had one major goal for 2014: run a 5 mile event on Thanksgiving Day. I trained all year for it and completed it. Finish time was not impressive … but I FINISHED. For me, that was HUGE. Interestingly, the training part made me feel so much better and it positively affected the rest of my life: how I felt about myself, the energy I had to get things done. I'll look back on 2014 as a great year because of the ripple effect setting that one goal had in my life. Leslie

Love the quotes!! My goal this year for my family is to take a photo a day. I loved this idea and hopefully it will get me to blog more! My personal goal this year is to read one book a month and pray the rosary once a week….so far so good on this!!! I think this is the longest I have made it without breaking my resolutions!!

Love all the quotes/goals. My main goal for this year is to be present, so I can totally relate to your goals 🙂

Amen to this!! This is how I feel about this year also! My husband and I said that we are going to get better about saying no and not feeling guilty about it! 🙂

Your rustic cobbler is my FAVORITE! I'll have to try this one, too!!!

One of my goals….and it is a "fight"….is to be more present with my 6&8 year old and my husband. Same goal is for my family to be more present in our life.
The fight is the constant (but good hearted) invitations to do a million parties, get togethers, etc. and my constant need to think of EVERYTHING I need to do. We love and cherish our family and friends, but it was getting to the point where we didn't have peaceful family time.
We had an "Us" weekend and it was joyful! Together outdoors, making s'mores, watching football and baking cookies! I was present in every moment!

Get to the gym at least 3 times a week, read one book a month-btw, The Kitchen House was sooooo good. I'm passing it on to friends. My sweet mom passed away a year ago this week and I am going to go through all those photos and such. Trying not to stress over the little things that a teenage boy puts me through. Haha

I love little sayings. I am a thinker, so I will ponder on a few of these. Try to soak them in.
First goal, declutter.
I want to keep what I need and give away the excessive. MY rainy day may be someone else's everyday.
I also want to dedeclutt my time. Make the most of what I have.
To be more present. I have four children. I am busy. I will always be busy. But, I don't want the busyness of life to rule over me and I miss my children growing up.
BTW-is there any way to watch your Paula Seen segment without subscribing? To watch on demand? I would love to use your episode as a trial run.

I need an edit button. I swear every time I post, I see an error later. My fingers & phone don't match up well. Ha!

This spoke to my heart…I keep complaining of being too busy…& it really IS a choice. This post really resonated with me. Thank you for sharing! I think this will be my new theme of 2015 too! Now on to that huge pile of laundry lol!

You have got to be exhausted. You just adopted a toddler and were gone from home for nearly three weeks. It's ok to not have monthly goals, or any goals other than rest and adjust. Your readers understand and aren't expecting to see business as usual around here. It's ok. Give yourself plenty of grace, mama. I'm enjoying reading about your journey and your lovely family. 🙂

My goal for 2015 is wrapped around this Bible verse (that I know God put on my heart for a reason this year)… I read it back in November, and it resonated.
Psalm 126:5-6
Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
For me, it's more about the action of still sowing… I can get focused on what has not gone my way – or what I want that I don't have – and that's just not right!! Even when I lay my own expectations down, I want to keep moving, keeping doing things God has called me, knowing His heart is good and good will come!!

I totally agree with your vision for this year. I also feel so "busy" or like I am constantly just getting things "done". Time to stop and break that train of thinking. My goal this year is to manage my time better so I can actually live versus running here and there just getting stuff "done". That cherry cobbler—to.die.for.

Hi Shay! Great goals for the year! I was curious if at some point you could please update us quickly on how Ashby has been adjusting now that you're home and she's in a new home, new routine, etc 🙂 I thoroughly enjoyed your adoption journey and followed it like crazy w/excitement but am just curious how the rest of your week went last week! I hope you're all doing well and that Ashby is adjusting nicely!

I read one of your posts a while back about how early you get up. I've decided this year to work on being a morning person. So far I've really enjoyed how awake and productive I feel the rest of the day by getting an earlier start and not feeling so rushed.

I decided that I was going to try to live the life of the "on screen" screen version of myself. You know…if there was a movie about me, how would I want to be portrayed? And then try to carry out that roll in real life. My house, car and office would be clean and organized. I wouldn't stay in sweats all day on days off, I would love on my husband and kiddo more, I would give more, cook more at home, get outside and love life more, get up and go to the gym early, be more present for my friends and family, and of course: have an awesome career. 🙂 So far, its going well. Its fool proof for this perfectionist, because there is no "point of failure" it is about spending each day striving to be the best I can be(come).

My goals are to 1) maintain my sanity whilst moving to a different continent, 2) find the beauty even when life is stressful, 3) enjoy being surrounded by family, 4) spend more time with my dad, and 5) hang out with Shay Shull in Real Life. 🙂
