Let’s start from the beginning…sometimes, you just need a quick dessert. People stop by, people stay later than expected…or it’s just a random Thursday night and you want something sweet. Whatever the occasion, sometimes you just need a simple dessert. When you’re thinking easy (and delish!), think galette. A galette is just a free form pie. You take your crust, you add in whatever you like (on this day, we did sliced plums and mixed berries), bake and enjoy. Oh so simple and oh so yummy.
This is the perfect mix and match recipe. Pick your fruit, assemble, bake and eat. You’ll be mmmmmming in no time!
This recipe serves four but can be easily doubled! I used some frozen fruit and some fresh…feel free to use any combination you have on hand.
Shopping List
1 uncooked pie crust (I used a store bought one but you can use homemade)
1 cup frozen mixed berries
2 cups sliced fresh plums (about 2-3 plums)
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons sugar (divided)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Roll out your pie crust on to a lightly greased baking sheet. Set aside.
In a mixing bowl, toss your berries and plums with your flour and one tablespoon of sugar. Spoon this fruit mixture into the center of your pie crust. Fold up the edges around the the crust as pictured above. Take your remaining tablespoon of sugar and sprinkle it down over the top.
Pop the galette in the oven and bake 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven and serve immediately (maybe with some ice cream too!).
I mean…simple, right? You could do one fruit for the whole thing or a combination. Peaches, apples, pears, and cherries all work great too.
Make this tonight and let me know what you think :).
xoxo
