Summer is winding down and therefore, the Shulls are kicking it into high gear! We’re trying to fit in as many fun little things as possible to end the season…and thankfully, we have had beautiful weather here in North Texas (record breaking lows) to help us enjoy summer even more :).
Day 211: Kensington has been asking Andrea if she can “babysit” Griffin all summer. Kensington loooooves sweet little Griffin. On this day, I picked up Andrea’s boys for a play date while Kensington stayed behind and helped care for Griffin. Apparently she played with her, helped her eat lunch, bathed her, brushed her hair, picked out a new outfit and corresponding headband and pretty much had the best time ever. I see lots of babysitting in this girl’s future :).
Andrea sent me this picture of the girls. Sweetness.
Day 212: Erika and I have been watching the weather all summer for the perfect zoo day…and when we saw that this day was going to be unseasonably cool and a little rainy, we pounced on it (Narci too!). The zoo was pretty much empty…just us and the animals…so.much.fun!
Zoo moms 🙂
Day 213: This was such a special day for us! We spent the morning at the airport welcoming home our sweet friends and their new son from China! One less child without a home! My sweet friend Whitney is already and mom to four kids and now has a wonderful new addition to her crew. We are so happy for them! We anticipate a similar day for the Shulls this fall. Words cannot describe how ecstatic we are to be a family of five :).
Being reunited with their four kids and introducing them to their new brother. What a sweet moment. One less.
Day 214: It was Erika’s birthday!!! We went swimming and had dinner with our families on this night. Happy birthday sweet Erika!! And in a week, it’s Narci’s birthday too…lots of celebrating this month!
Kensington also apparently took 35 selfies on my phone on this day too :).
Day 215: I looked down on our way to church and laughed at the three Starbucks drinks. Apparently, we need a lot of caffeine to get through church (and our church isn’t even boring!). All I know is that I’m ready for the Pumpkin Spice Latte. Anyone else? 🙂
I took this picture of sweet Poppy on this day. Bless her heart, the dog days of summer haven’t been kind to her. She tore two of her ACLs and hasn’t been able to play this summer. She’s recovering every day…but honestly, it’s been a bunch of lying around for Poppy Popsicle this season.
Day 216: This was such a Monday. Kensington was all smiles on Monday morning…Smith was standing behind me crying because his Lego truck didn’t look exactly like he wanted it to. Monday problems. And then…
…Erika and I took our kids plus Narci’s kids (Narci wasn’t with us) to the mall…and things got so crazy that I just started laughing so hard that I was crying (when I laugh hard, I totally cry). There were injuries, sassiness, a little wrestling, a fall that made Ebby Lee look as if she needed an ambulance (she didn’t but trust me, it looked really bad!), Luke walked by with a random scratch on his face and one kid had a bathroom issue that wasn’t super fun…it was all kinds of bananas. Erika and I hit Starbucks hard on the way out. I love our crazy crew…even when they are quite literally crazy. 🙂
Day 217: Woohoo! Breakfast at Starbucks!! This summer, we’ve been having breakfast at Starbucks on Tuesday mornings and my kiddos just love it! This is where you walk to get to our Starbucks (festive, right?) and my kiddos were in a super good mood on this particular morning (that’s what chocolate milk and lemon loaf will do to you).
A close up view…Andrew is thinking Kensington might earn herself a volleyball scholarship with that vertical ;).

Small world…I kinda know the family you went to meet at the airport! His mom was my geometry teacher in high school and his parents and brother go to my church. They were on our prayer list the whole trip. So glad they all made it home!

Funny that you mentioned your psl- we just walked into Cracker Barrel and they have a sign that says I love you more than pumpkin flavored anything and it reminded me of friends like you! Ha! You might need to get one or a few! Ha!

I second the comment about the Omaha zoo if you're ever around Omaha. It's amazing 🙂 We go about a dozen times a year (with membership of course)

WOAH! That little girl has got some air! I agree with Andrew!

Lets be honest, K totally has a shot at a volleyball scholarship with that kind of air! She should be proud of that! Also good job mama catching the photo!!

We take a trip to our zoo every year, sometimes it's 2-3 times per summer. Love the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo. If your ever in Omaha check it out.

Your mall trip sounds hysterical! How often are you all at the mall anyway? It seems like you're there at least a few times a week! How do you find time? And do your kids enjoy going to the mall? Anytime I mention going out shopping, my kids run the other way!
Traci says
Hahaha, mine too! I remember when my son was little, dragging him to the mall…he laid on the floor and cried, "you have enough clothes!" He is 10 now and my husband and I still laugh at his 2-year-old wisdom 😉

What a fun recap! So glad you've had such a good week. 🙂

I am anxiously awaiting the return of the pumpkin spice latte! Can't wait 🙂
Thanks for keeping it real with the mall craziness…I love how y'all seem to just go with the flow, make it fun and not get all flustered and sweaty of the brink of panic attack. 😉 I've got a 2 year old and a 9 month old so that's definitely something I'm working on!

I love the pictures of welcoming the new child home! Just found out this week we will be adopting our 3rd and becoming a family of 5 ourselves. Our youngest's birth mother is pregnant again and chose us to raise this baby as well. Adoption has been such a blessing in our lives.

I have a love affair with cut offs! Where did you get your pair you wore to the zoo? So cute!
